Guest access
After reservation is confirmed you will get a message with the keepers phone to check in. The property is located in the south part of the lake in a peaceful community Cerro de Oro. To get there from Guatemala City you need to take the coast road, CA2, Escuintla, Cocales, San Lucas Toliman, Cerro de Oro. There is a dock and for extra you can solicit Diego, the keeper of the house, a boat to go to other towns.

Other things to note
A tip to Diego the keeper is appreciated for good service.
Search for map location before going and it is a must to travel during the day. Plan your drive in advance with GPS phone map or Waze.

Remember you are in a rural place, bugs are normal inhabitants. We clean and fumigate the house very well. I suggest hiring cleaning service to prevent crawling bugs in longer stays, hire with Diego and pay him directly, suggested price is Q50 a day. I get less stars on location (we are in the south side of the lake) and bugs, remember it is rural and it depends on weather and time of year, we work hard for the super-host status.

Cerro de Oro, Sololá, Guatemala

Cerro de Oro is believed to be the snake that swallowed an elefant in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's Little Prince. He had an airplane accident in Guatemala and spent 3 months in Antigua traveling to Lake Atitlan. Cerro de Oro is a peaceful and religious local community, at night you can appreciate how they decorate the tuktuks with lights from the terrace, the town sleeps early and wakes up early. During the day you can hike the Cerro de Oro and have a spectacular view of the lake. Ask Diego to take you.

I am a watercolor and ink (Sumi-e) @sushanest I find the peacefulness in Lake Atitlán to be my favorite place for inspiration. My husband and son are architects and they designed and constructed elCapricho, elBunker and the new adventure Sleep in a Jeep, in Cerro de Oro. These houses have been used exclusively for renting, with Diego the keeper doing a fantastic job at keeping the place. Becoming a Superhost has been hard work because there are many opinions on what people expect. I speak fluent english and spanish. Muchas gracias, Saludos, Susan
