Edsele is located in the middle of Västernorrland - 140 kilometers from Sundsvall, Örnsköldsvik and Östersund and only 60 kilometers to Sollefteå. Here you have close proximity to western Ångermanland's characteristic steep sandy river-bank (nipa) and to the river Faxälven. In the village there is a well-equipped shop, gas station and Restaurang Grytan which serves lunch and coffee on weekdays. In the surrounding area you will also find a heritage centre (hembygdsgård) with simple meals and Faxälvdalen café serving waffles and more during the summer. At Restaurang Grytan you can also buy lunch boxes if you wish.

In the summer, you can take the opportunity to go water skiing in Ramnsjön or visit Västernorrland's largest quartz and feldspar mine. In winter there are many kilometers of snowmobile trails to explore.

Starting from Edsele you will also find many other destinations in western Ångermanland; Ramsele - known for, among other things, Lastbilsträffen and Näsåker - with one of the world's best festivals Urkult and Europe's second largest rock carving site. Of course you are also close to Sollefteå and Junsele.
