The space
Borgo Argenina is a tiny medieval village surrounded by Chianti vineyards outside Siena. The hamlet is mentioned in monastic documents dating back to 998 A.D.

The breath taking 360° view of medieval castles set in rolling hills covered in vineyards and olive groves makes the place one of the best and most desirable locations in the whole Chianti Classico region, the magic land of the Black Rooster.
The Villas have been carefully restored and maintain its ancient and original charm. It has been tastefully furnished by a Milanese stylist in the old typical Tuscan design. The beautiful living room ground floor features 3 arches and brick vaulted ceiling and has French door leading to the stunning terrace and a charming dining room with a summer kitchen.
The rooms have wood ceiling and ancient terracotta floors.
The original large kitchen first floor with majolica tiles and open fireplace and benches inside to sit in, and is used for Elena’s cooking classes and dinner with the guests.

Other things to note
• My cooking class is a very special event at Borgo Argenina and it’s very well described by my guests in vide youtube and reviews from the guests.
After picking some of the fresh ingredients from our vegetable garden, you will gather around the wooden table in my kitchen for a hands-on cooking experience: chopping vegetables, making pasta, preparing ragù on the stove, mixing eggs with sugar for the dessert… and more!
You will be cooking traditional Italian recipes passed on from mother to daughter, I learned from my family and all the beautiful mothers and friends I met and loved in different Italy regions. Home-made pasta, lasagna or tagliatelle, risotto, chicken cacciatora, pork loin cooked with milk, meatballs with ragù, fresh salad, as well as various vegetables, from our farm garden and a special dessert: grandma’s version of Tiramisu (we call “Coppa Bagnocavallo”).
We’ll plan your cooking class based on your availability and according with the other guests. We do not cook every day.
The class begins at 5:00p.m., so you will have time to come back from your day trip or your check in at 3,30 and relax with a glass of wine before getting to work creating a delicious meal.
Cooking class is not included in the rate of the room.

Borgo Argenina is a tiny village of four restored villas dating back to 998 A.D. located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. It was November 1991, and I was living in Milan, working as a fashion designer, when I first spotted the five fairytale stone houses nestled on the rolling hillsides, birthplace of Chianti Classico wine. Despite their disrepair and abandonment of over fifty years… for me, it was ‘love at first sight’! I knew at that moment that the dream I had carried since I was a child was finally going to come true. I knew in my heart that I would transform this broken down hamlet into Borgo Argenina, one of the most romantic, magical, and breathtaking country inns in all of Tuscany! MORE In March 1992 I moved to Gaiole in Chianti with my 10-year-old daughter, Fiorenza, and began the overwhelming restoration of my precious rundown village. There was no electricity, no heat, no running water, and due to the overgrowth of weeds, you could barely see what was left of the ancient buildings. During the following five years, we scraped, hammered, plastered, and painted—sometimes through the coldest of winters—to turn this neglected ruins into the most authentic and beautiful place to stay in Tuscany. Working side-by-side with our skilled Tuscan craftsmen – Almo, and his sons- has been the most exciting experience to me. They have become my precious Tuscan family through the beautiful restoration of these ancient buildings. One day, when we were still working on the last details, a handsome American man showed up at my door. He was Rick Steves. A few month later, many other travel writers came to visit us and wrote about our charming and special place. My dream finally came true when we opened the B&B in 1998: Borgo Argenina was back to life.

• I am very much looking forward to your visit to Borgo Argenina and cannot wait to host you and share my love for the region with you.
I fell in love with the Chianti region many years ago (and never left!) and I am so passionate about sharing the beauty and charm of the region with my guests. Every region of Italy holds treasures and wonders to discover, but to really get a taste of authentic Italy, it is nice to spend more time in one place and get a feel for the daily rhythm, taking time to savour the tastes, the sounds, the smells and the sights.
. For many travelers, Chianti and Val D’Orcia regions combine all of the best that Italy has to offer: a mix of hearty cuisine, fascinating history, and gentle beauty.
With Borgo Argenina as your home base, you can choose a different day trip every morning without the hassle of moving your luggage from one place to another. We are centrally located 20 minutes away from Siena, in the heart of the Chianti region and a few km from Montalcino. Many guests venture out to Siena, San Gimignano, and Volterra for the day. We also have Florence, the whole of the Chianti region, castles, Medieval villages, hilltop hamlets, Gaiole, Radda, Greve, Castellina, the Clay Hills, the Val D’Orcia, Montepulciano, Montalcino (the list goes on and on!) right at our doorstep!
If you are a wine lover, your exploring can take you through the 3 best wine country in Italy – Chianti region the birthplace of Chianti Classico wine and Supertuscan, Montalcino Brunello wine and Montepulciano, home of Nobile wine. There are so many historic and famous wineries housed in Medieval castles and hamlets, you will truly be taking a step back in time as you taste and learn about the different wines and their history.
With more time, you can soak up some of these breathtaking and spectacular sights and still have time to unwind at the end of the day, watching the sunset from our terrace overlooking the vineyards. You can also participate in a cooking class hosted in my Tuscan kitchen.
