Beautiful and completely private self-contained studio with double bedroom, own kitchenette, shower room/WC. Attached to large Victorian family house in quiet residential area.

Situated in Zone 3 - only 3 minutes from Streatham Common station with trains into Victoria (16 minutes)

Laundry facilities upon request (small charge of £3 per load)

The space

A very comfortable apartment room with double bed, seating area, en suite shower room and private kitchen. Situated on the ground floor of a double fronted Victorian House. Free WiFi is available along with with Freeview TV.

We are a family with 2 children and a very friendly West Highland Terrier dog called Jasper, that loves people. You are highly likely to meet him in the garden.

The apartment is self contained and situated at the rear of the house with its own entrance, making it very peaceful and quiet. You will have access to the large garden with your own seating / dining area to use when the weather is nice. There is also free on street parking available should you require it.

We are usually available to help with any questions or problems you might have during your stay and would love to have a cup of tea with you when you arrive, and tell you all about the local area and how best to get around London.

There is a great local pub called The Railway which is literally round the corner which serves tea and home baked cakes during the day and has a gastro-pub menu in the evenings, as well as serving some fine local beers and ales. For a late evening's entertainment there is The Hideaway Jazz and Comedy Club which is as good a venue as anything in central London.

In terms of restaurants, there are lots to choose from - The Bull pub does great food and The Moorish does delicious Moroccan food cooked in a traditional terrine. Whether it's Chinese or an Indian curry, whatever you're looking for, you can find locally. Or for cheap and cheerful we have a number of local cafes, one of which is situated on the beautiful Streatham Common.

However if you really want to experience what the tourists don't usually see, we can help you with that. We have some fantastic green spaces locally, and hidden gems like the Rookery gardens on the Common. Great 'bring your own' local restaurants that won't cost very much but the cuisine is to die for.

Transport:
There is extremely good local transport. You will be in travel zone 3 which is very convenient to get into central London.

3 minutes walk away is Streatham Common Railway station. The train takes only 16 minutes to London Victoria.
There are also trains to London Bridge and several local buses.
Just one stop from Streatham Common will take you to Balham, which is on The London Underground (Northern Line).

Streatham Common trains:
London Victoria - 16 minutes
London Bridge - 30 minutes
There are also trains to Milton Keynes and Watford Junction from Streatham Common

We have another local railway station nearby called Streatham Station (not to be confused with Streatham Common station) which is only a 10 minute walk away. Thameslink trains from here will take you through the City of London to Kings cross and Milton Keynes (and as far as Luton).

Buses to connect you to The London Underground in Brixton where you can take the Victoria Line into Central London.

If you do not mind a train ride if about 30mins every time you are going to city centre, then this place is for you. You should have almost everything you need in here.

Response from Janice:
Hi Edison, I'm so sorry you had a problem with the trains. Unfortunately we have had a lot of train strikes and cancelled services in the run up to Christmas. We are all fed up about this at the moment. We are in zone 3 and the train journey to Victoria is 16 minutes, I am so sorry it was taking you longer. Hopefully Southern Rail will sort out this problem in time for other guests. I hope you had a good journey home.

Awesome place with a beautiful room. Location is really good, only few minutes to the nearest station. On the day when we arrived, the train broke down and we were uncontactable. Reached late and Janice waited for us to arrive. Really appreciate it. Definitely recommend this place to everyone. Private room, ensuite with kitchenette. Nothing more you can ask for. Janice even provided simple breakfast with juice and milk for us. Thanks!

This is our first Airbnb experience and I have to say that staying at Janice & Brian's place is an awesome experience!! First, communication with Janice was easy. She accepted our reservations request very promptly. What I'm impressed most with is the house itself and the room. As you can see on the photos, they are nicely designed just like a hotel room. The room is spacious and it comes with work table, your personal mini fridge, big wardrobe, luggage storage area, bathroom (with bathtub) and a big comfy double bed with lovely pillows. The fridge is also stocked up with bagels, butter, jam, orange juice and milk. Space is particularly important for me and that's what we got! You can also request for ironing facilities and use the washing machine. They have a beautiful kitchen where you can use everything you want to cook and dine. They also have a lovely dog called Jesper... I have to say that I do have fear for some dogs but Jesper is exceptional. He's just so adorable. He loves to be around people.... Jesper is the most tame and well trained dog I've met... And although we only stay for 2 nights, I felt like I've bonded with Jesper. In terms of location, the house is 5 minutes short walk to streatham common national railway station. It is advisable to get an Oyster card before going to the house because they don't sell Oyster card in this station. You can only top up or buy the national rail tickets from the machine which will cost you more. If you buy a single journey ticket to Victoria station, it will cost you £4.10 - it's cheaper when you travel with Oyster card and the fares are capped! The journey to Victoria station is about 16-17 minutes. Taking into consideration of walking and waiting time, it's about 25-30 minutes from Janice's doorstep to Victoria station. From Victoria station is the hub of transportation in London and you can get to every else from there. We also like the fact that their house is within 5 minutes short walk to Sainsbury's supermarket. It's very convenient... We find everything that we needed there including some extra toiletries and food supplies for our breakfast. Overall, I think the room is nicely designed... It has a classy touch. The kitchen is great for us to prepare food. Location is convenient because it's just a short walk to railway station, supermarket and eateries. Janice and Brian are very flexible hosts... They are very accommodating and we feel at home staying here!

If I ever found myself in London again I would hope to stay with Janice. The space was absolutely perfect and it really is the best ‘bang for your buck’. Quick shops nearby and the best part it’s a five minute walk to the tube station. Lovely family! Lovely dog! Would definitely recommend.

Friendly family house in quiet residential location. I will do my best to make sure your stay is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. I have stayed in several airbnb houses on my travels and have a pretty good idea what makes me feel at home. I hope to provide that for you here if you come and stay.
