Mekong Cottage is located by the Mekong River in Chiang Khan, Loei. It is designed by Somluk Pantiboon, pottery artist from Doi Din Dang in Chiang Rai. It's environmental and family friendly property. The house is built with double-bricks locally made, and rendered with mud & straws. High ceiling, lots of doors and windows and veranda stimulate the airflow. Located by the beautiful Mekong River, it is very pleasant and peaceful.

The space
We normally called this one-floor house a “Mom’s house”. It’s built for our parents to stay when they come to visit us in Chiang Khan. As they are getting older, we keep the steps only just a few to make it convenient and safe for them. Only when the house is vacant, we open it for guests who love to live in a simply and peaceful surrounding to stay. The wall is double bricks, rendered with rice straws and earth. So, the color is as of the earth in our property. It’s built by local builders showing their craftsmanship. The house offers 2 bedrooms (master and twin bedroom), 2 bathrooms and living area. It’s suitable for a family with kids, or a group of friends. For your comfort, each bedroom can accommodate 2 persons.

This one-storey house is often referred to as the ”Mother's House” because the intention is to make the mother and father stay at the guard to visit us in Chiang Khan. The house has a single storey high roof and has only a few steps of stairs for the comfort and safety of the elderly. Whenever the house is empty, we open the house to welcome travelers who want to relax in a simple atmosphere. The walls are made of double brick. Using a sheet material that contains rice straw and soil at our house, the color comes naturally. Construction and woodworking are all done by local artisans at Chiang Khan. The interior consists of a central hall for living on the terrace around a large bedroom and a small bedroom with two single beds and two bathrooms. The house is suitable for families or groups of friends for personal comfort. Each bedroom is reserved for 2 people per room.

Located by the Mekong River, Mekong Cottage is just 1.5km from the walking street. The size of this property is around 2 acres, featuring earth-tone buildings and a 25m-long swimming pool. The front of the property is facing the main road. Next to us is a big hotel. It can be noisy sometime if their guests happen to sing karaoke. This happens when they take big group of guests. As a town rules, no loud noise allowed after 10pm.
