Tranquil cottage set back from the clifftops by the sea in the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and just a short stroll to the famous Pembrokeshire coastpath. With the added coziness of a blazing stove, it’s a perfectly inspiring writer's retreat. Your comfortable double room looks out over the rolling hills and sea beyond. If you would like some creative company, I can be there writing and cooking too. If you prefer to book for 3-5 people you may have the whole cottage to yourselves.

The space
Iet-yr-Eithin, Welsh for 'Gorse Gate', is an idyllic country cottage on the beautifully wild and rugged Strumble Head Peninsula in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Footpaths lead directly from the front door in all directions including directly onto the stunning Pembrokeshire Coastpath. The house itself has an open plan kitchen, dining and living room upstairs with beautiful views from all the windows. It is a light, airy and sunny space with wooden floors and a large rug by a wood burning stove in the living room. There are lovely sea views from two large living room windows. The kitchen also has two windows, looking out over the hill Garn Fawr on one side and towards Newport village on the other. There is a wooden desk upstairs to write on, and a large glass kitchen table too. Or alternatively, just sit by the fire and write or draw. The 3 downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are well decorated, cosy and comfortable with thick carpets, and there are slate tiles with underfloor heating in the hallway and bathroom. The house comfortably fits 5 people, with extra room on a double sofa bed upstairs. My place is perfect for solo travellers, romantic getaways, families or groups of friends, including furry ones (1 well-behaved pet welcome).

Guest access
Free to come and go in all areas including the enclosed garden where you can catch the evening sun. Parking is on National Park common land outside.

Other things to note
The House and Garden:
The house runs on Ecotricity with modern night storage heaters plus a log burner in the living room with logs provided. Ecover products are available should you wish to use the dishwasher or washing machine during your stay. You are welcome to venture into the 'Secret Garden' and collect fruit such as figs or damsons which may be growing there in summer, or just sit and enjoy the sunset on the balcony of the wooden shed.

Eating and Drinking:
We leave you a list of recommended lovely places to wine and dine.
Outside the front is a seasonal herb garden so help yourselves to fresh mint or lemon balm tea in summer. And there is generally a good supply of rosemary, thyme, marjoram, chives and oregano to spice up any home-cooked meal.

Llanwnda is a remote and unspoilt corner of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It feels like the most peaceful place on earth, with more passing horses than cars. Whether there are sea mists or blazing sunshine it is a beautiful place to be. There is a friendly community of people living within the hamlet, an old farm and historic church. The French Invasion Memorial Stone is a 20 minute walk away and a lovely place for a picnic. Continue along the coast path to Strumble Head lighthouse and a bird watching lookout point, also good for viewing seals, porpoises, and even dolphins on a lucky day. Seal pups can be admired from the Llanwnda coast path August- late November. Climb Garn Fach behind the house to watch the sun set into the sea. The footpaths leading from the front door are lovely in all winds and weathers, particularly when there is a cosy cottage with a log-burning stove (logs provided) and a well-stocked bookshelf + games, CDs and a DVD cupboard to return to.

Hello my name's Carmen and I'm a mother of 2 recently grown up children. When we are here in Pembrokeshire we enjoy walks along beaches and the coast path, coming home to comfort, peace, and a roaring fire. The Welsh dresser is stacked with books and the bureau full of cds to play, dvds to watch, and games to play. The kitchen and living room are open plan so cooking is also a pleasant and companionable activity. Now we also have a base in Bristol we like to share our lovely cottage with people who want a walking, cycling or activity holiday, or simply a tranquil retreat in stunning and secluded surroundings. It is an idyllic place to come and play or rest, and our guests always thoroughly enjoy their time here. I have been a music tutor for many years so there is a traditional piano in the front double bedroom and plenty of music to play.

During your stay
We are renowned for being friendly welcoming hosts when we are around but as we are both busy working we may not be there all the time. However there will always be somebody on call for you if you should need anything to enhance your holiday experience and we will leave you with full contact details if we are away. You may find that you have the entire cottage to yourselves for a few days, particularly if you have booked the other rooms. If we are around we will provide a simple continental style breakfast for the first week of your stay. Otherwise there are plenty of shops in the nearby village and town.
