Come enjoy a weekend getaway in a new bright and private carriage house loft in the mountains. This unique loft has both proximity and privacy within minutes from the quaint town of Lexington, VA. Enjoy the peace and quiet when you open the dutch door in the morning facing a beautiful rolling pasture or a picnic next to the fire pit during a cool fall afternoon. Conveniently located just 10 minutes from the horse center and 12 minutes from the colleges and downtown Lexington.

The space
This carriage house loft is for adult stays and sleeps two comfortably. The loft is located 6 miles from downtown Lexington, the home of VMI and Washington & Lee University. It is a perfect place for couples to stay during events for either school, those looking to get away to the mountains for hiking or others visiting the Virginia Horse Center. The Maury River also accommodates kayakers and canoers of all levels and there is a wide variety of restaurants and shops in downtown Lexington to choose from. Otherwise, the loft features a full kitchen for those interested in cooking their own meals with all amenities. There is shower in the bathroom and a cozy living area with a large flat screen TV that is cable enabled. WiFi is available as well as options for being off the grid such as a large fire pit and rocking chairs on the wide deck for hanging out and reading your favorite book. The loft has a comfortable king size bed which is situated in the sleeping nook. All 5 large windows have wooden Venetian blinds that give you control of the light day or night.
While the loft is located right off of Rt. 11 N which takes you into Lexington, it also backs up to a quiet pasture providing a nice escape and beautiful views. The carriage house loft faces east for beautiful sunrises and gets lots of natural light during the day. When you drive up, you will see the garage on the first level which is not accessible to guests. Follow the gravel path on the right side around the back and up the deck stairs to enter the loft space. The lower level garage area will be locked at all times while guests are visiting. The key to access the loft will be easily found in a lockbox to the right of the lower level side door which will be illuminated by a motion-sensored light if arriving after dark.
Please note, the driveway is a bit steep and horse trailers are not accommodated easily as they will not be able to turn around.

The loft is in a bucolic setting surrounded by mountains and pastures. There are two historic churches nearby which date back to the 1700s. The Sam Houston Wayside is down below, which is a monument of Texas pink granite that honors the birthplace in Rockbridge County of Sam Houston, former governor of Tennessee and Texas. Hull's Drive-In, the nation's first non-profit, community-owned drive-in theatre, is located several minutes from the loft on your way to downtown Lexington. Right next to Hull's is Lexington Coffee Roasters where you can pick up a latte and a snack most of time. Devil's Backbone Brewing is also located nearby on your way to Lexington. Stop by Duke's Antique Mall after Devil's Backbone for an eclectic shopping experience.

As an avid fly fisherman, I have been drawn to Rockbridge County for a long time. We had a wonderful place on South Mountain near Irish Creek for many years. As a custom home builder, I wanted to create an appealing retreat that could be used by others who may also share my love of the outdoors. I hope you enjoy the area as much as I do!
