Location

Dogliola, Abruzzo, Italy

A bit history. Tegliola (Dogliola) derived from "small pan". The village of Dogliola rises 445 meter on a rocky ridge in the lower valley of the Trigho River. The first historic mention is dated back to the Roman Empire 1,115 when Ugo Di Grandinto gives the castle to John, Abbot of the Benedicitine.

The original church that was here until 1700 called Badia of Santa Maria Della Grazie was across the street from the property.

The property was used as the monastery for the old church priests.

The fortified village is still perfectly recognizable. The historic center has a two-fronted ridge comb scheme.

The current church was built (church of sun Rocco) at Palazzo Della Frazia with adjoining library. Is dates back to 1805, built in a modern style and was just renovated, with a single nave and a vault decorated with four paintings by the Lancianese painter Nicola Sigismondi.

The facade, with an eighteenth-century design, is embellished by the portal and by a large carved stone window . The bell tower, on the other hand, was completed only in the 70s of the last century. An ancient organ is still visible inside the church.

The patronal feast of San Rocco falls on June 20, near the harvest, and is celebrated with carts and tractors decorated with bundles of wheat ears and specialty food.

Another element of interest is the "Fonte Vecchia", fountain is located at the entrance of town.

During the summer there is a village festival conducted on June 20 in Dogliola and biking, hiking or fishing is available close by.

The location of the property is excellent and much to do and explore.

Only 24 km from the ocean (15-20 mins drive) consist of the San Salvo marina, beaches in Vasto and music events during the summer time.

2:30 hours from the Bari’s ferry, which can take you to Greece, Malta or even Croatia.

250 km from Rome, with a weekend inexpensive Flix bus leaving from Vasto & San Salvo for a mere few euros.

175 km (2:15 min) from Naples. 100 km from the famous Ski Resort Campitello Matese in San Massimo and close proximity of 105 km (1:15 mins) from Pescara and the famous pasta valley (Majella Mountain) which is known bike ride path.

There is so much to do or just stay home and enjoy the quite and peace ✌️

I’m fun and easy going and love meeting new people on my adventures. I’ve stayed in Airbnb’s all over the world and have met some great people on the platform who I now call friends. My favourite things are diving, aviation & technology. I am a pilot & scuba / Freediving instructor as a hobby. Oh, and I always open to try good authentic food. I also have a passion for learning new languages, which has come in helpful on my travels. Along with English, I speak Hebrew and some Turkish, Italian and Bulgarian.
