Where you’ll be

Jacqueville , Lagunes, Côte d’Ivoire

The history of this seaside town Jacqueville is a bit special. A peninsula city wedged between the waters of the lagoon to the north and those of the Atlantic to the south, it has experienced several influences, first Dutch, then Portuguese, British and, finally, French. Formerly a trading post under French colonization, it owes its name to an English trader, Big Jack, who had settled there to barter with the indigenous populations (including clothes and liquors, for palm oil). The original location of Grand Jack, its name at its inception, still exists, 5 km from the present city. With the platforms of the oil and gas companies, all located off its coasts, the city is also known to be the heart of the country's hydrocarbon production.

the resort of the Ivorians. Its strategic position, between lagoon and sea, makes it a terrestrial paradise.

These open-air bar-restaurants flourished in all the surrounding seaside villages. From about twenty before the inauguration of the bridge, there are now more than two hundred, which extend over fifteen kilometers.

Feast on local and Western delicacies, trembling on the sets of Ivorian DJs, witnessing performances by zouglou artists or dating on the beaches… Abidjanians don't shy away from their pleasure.

There is no pollution in the village unlike the capital, the air is fresh
