Breakfast
This is one of a few places in the area that has this feature.
In the high-lying interior of the island of Gran Canaria, you will find “La Casa de Arriba". Built 300 years ago “The House on the Hill” is a traditional Canarian house lovingly restored with an enviable location overlooking the hamlet of Arbejales, near the well-known colonial town and tourist destination of Teror.
There is also the possibility of renting the entire house for up to 8 people. Check our other listings: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/users/show/39649287

The space
‘La Casa de Arriba’ is nestled in a tranquil landscape offering on one side a view of fertile valleys as far as the eye can see halted only by the ocean, and on the other, a rising tsunami of volcanic slopes with lush vegetation soaring towards the highest point of the island. La Casa de Arriba – fully equipped to meet the needs of all guests, welcomes you to simply relax & unwind or base yourselves here for more energetic activities.
My wife Nathalie and I have a passion for travelling and have spent several years looking for the ideal location to build our dream, a warm & welcoming place to share with other people who, like us, love new encounters and the beauty of nature. We arrived in Gran Canaria and immediately fell under the spell of the island and its inhabitants, and it was love at first site when we discovered ‘La Casa de Arriba’. We began what has been over a year of rebuilding, renovating and remodelling this house to make a home for ourselves and for visitors who want to discover the island. Both of the en-suite rooms are beautifully designed, spacious and very comfortable. The communal space on the ground floor offers an open-plan, fully-equipped kitchen with basic necessities for cooking and making tea and coffee, a large kitchen table with chairs and a furnished living area with a comfy sofa and chairs. The beautiful outdoor area is cleverly designed to allow you to be alone with your thoughts or to socialise with other guests while enjoying the views.

Other things to note
We've got two cats living with us in the adjacent property. They sometimes wander on the terrace but they never enter any of the rented rooms.

There is a local shop and a Canarian bar a few minutes walk from the house and the tourist and sports activities on the island are numerous and varied: hiking, paragliding, cycling, beach, diving, museums, shopping ... There is something for everyone!
The colonial town of Teror, home to the island’s patron saint ‘La Virgen del Pino’/ ‘Virgin of the Pine’ is a short drive or less than an hour’s walk away, and boasts a beautiful historic centre and the famous basilica built in homage to ‘La Virgen del Pino’. The colourful, weekly Sunday market, the most popular on the island, offers up local culinary delicacies along with religious accessories and much more.
The vibrant capital of Las Palmas is a 35-minute drive away also reachable by public transport, and here you can wander the colonial streets and visit Christopher Columbus’ house, soak up the views from the cathedral tower, and delight in the quaint shopping area of Triana. "Las Canteras" with its’ 3kms of promenade and beautiful sandy beach is the perfect place to take a dip, surf, suntan and then enjoy drinks or a meal at some of its’ numerous bars and restaurants. On a clear day you can look out across the sea and see the ghostly outline of Tenerife !

My wife Nathalie and I have a passion for travelling. We met in South America more than 10 years ago. At the time she was a language teacher in England looking to perfect her spanish and I was living in Ecuador working as a manager of a backpacker hostel. After travelling together around South America we came back to England for a few years where we got married and then have spent several years looking for the ideal location to build our dream, a warm & welcoming place to share with other people who, like us, love new encounters and the beauty of nature.
