The space

*2 rooms available. This listing is for one room. Please see our other listing (#379455) if you would like to book the other room as well.

There are 2 rooms available, each with a double bed and a view over the garden. We are able to provide a mattress for extra people (in the same room) if need be. Both rooms share a bathroom.*

Set in the foothills of the Ruahine Ranges, this 100 year old homestead is a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of city life. The extremely private property is surrounded by an extensive garden and the beautiful Makaretu river valley. The trees are home to a spectacular variety of bird life including kereru, bellbirds and moreporks who swoop through the deck at night. Part of the property that borders the river has been put into QEII reserve and is full of native flora and fauna.

This is the perfect spot to come and relax in the garden, by the open fire or as a gateway to explore the Ruahine Ranges and all they have to offer.

The menagerie of animals add to the character of the property, with chickens, ducks, pet sheep, pigs, horses and a very friendly dog who all love a bit of attention. We also welcome any furry companions you may have with you as well by negotiation. Please ask us if you have any queries about bringing your pets be it a horse, dog or anything in between.

In the surrounding area are a number of boutique vineyards including Junction run by John and Jo Ashworth just a 10 minute drive away. Their award-winning wines and warm hospitality are not to be missed.

Norsewood is our closest town about 10 minutes drive away. Dannevirke and Waipukurau approximately a half hour drive where you can find restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and anything else you may need.

We will provide breakfast - homemade muesli, toast and a selection of spreads, coffee, tea or juice. We can offer other meals by arrangement.

Absolutely loved every single moment of our stay with this wonderful family! Not only did Kerry and Marty open their house to us but their home, too. They made every moment worth it. We got to meet each and every animal on the farm and learn them by name, giving an even more pers…

This place is piece of heaven...view from the garden on the valley is amazing, like a painting. Kerry was amazing host, so sweet, she even walk us true the farm and introduce us with all the animals. Our 3 years old son was delighted, he did't want to leave. Highly recommend!

We stayed one night to break up the drive from Lake Taupo to Wellington, but really this would be a relaxing spot to spend a day. The property was beautiful in early spring, so I can only imagine how gorgeous it must be in summer.

We had the MOST amazing time at Kerry &Marty's farm, and Marty had to carry the whole load since Kerry had to be away. We were intrigued by Marty's Kiwi can-do spirit, impressed by his musical talent & entrepreneurship, and grateful for his skills in the kitchen. I've sent photo…

We are a family living in idyllic Central Hawkes Bay. Marty works on the surrounding farms and is a jack of all trades, Kerry works as a NZ sign language interpreter in the Manawatu and Hawkes Bay regions. Our young boy, Radek, keeps an eye on all the goings on around here.
