Near new, large, spacious, modern 70 sqm furnished apartment with own private access, in quiet no-exit street 15 minutes from the old city or airport. 1 bedroom with double bed, own bathroom, and kitchen with everything in it, plus 100's of movies, Bose stereo and 200/50 Mb Wifi.

Situated in beautiful, private area of Chiang Mai with several outstanding Thai restaurants and markets close by serving delicious Thai food.

Native English speaking owner lives on site in another separate apartment.

The space
Situated in a quiet no-exit street with rice fields and longan orchards nearby, this 1st floor apartment is secure, and it's safe to walk around the area at night. The local Thai people are very friendly and accommodating.

The apartment is only 4 years old with a fully equipped kitchen including hob, microwave, rice cooker and coffee making facilities, or you can visit some of the fabulous inexpensive Thai restaurants within walking or cycling distance. Large floor to ceiling windows flood the apartment with muted light, there’s paintings on the walls and you can chill watching Netflix or hundreds of DVD’s.

There are 2 free mountain bikes to explore the area, as there is great cycling through the suburbs or to the new Promenada Mall 20 minutes away, or a 6 kms cycle into town to the clubs, restaurants, markets and Night Bazaar.

But best to hire a scooter to explore further afield, as many of Chiang Mai's great adventure attractions are 20+ kms outside the city. You can rent a Honda or Yamaha scooter in town, typically 250 Bt per day (US$7) so make sure you bring your international driver's license.

The apartment has its own private access, kitchen, and bathroom, filtered water on tap, aircon, TV, Netflix, Blueray DVD player with 100's of movies, Bose stereo (with smart phone input), microwave, toaster, rice cooker, and coffee maker, plus two 21 gear mountain bikes FOC. In the bathroom is fresh soap, shampoo and conditioner.

Our business depends on reliable high speed internet so there's fibre to the apartment which is typically 200 Mb down and 50 Mb up.

There's also a lot of information on local attractions like yoga classes, Thai cooking school, hair salon, elephant parks and coffee shops in the rainforest, motorcycle day trips through the mountains, and all the local restaurants (Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, plus fast food delivery to the apartment) along with Boys Blues Bar for the best live blues music in Chiang Mai.

Guest access
You have your own private apartment with your own key. It's one flight up from the internal courtyard across a connecting bridge.

Other things to note
Chiang Mai Thailand is such an incredibly relaxed and chilled out city with the weather in Chang Mai varying from mild (Nov - Feb) to hot March to May to Monsoon (Jun - Oct).

There are so many things to do and attractions in Chiang Mai from the Chiang Mai old city surrounded by a moat, Chiang Mai elephant sanctuary, Chiang Mai night bazaar, Chiang Mai night market, Chiang Mai Sunday market called Walking Street, Chiang Mai Night Safari, Grand Canyon Water Park, Tiger Kingdom, Doi Inthanon (Thailand's highest mountain at 2,565 m) and of course Chiang Mai's many temples including Doi Suthep temple on top of the mountain close to the city etc.

There are many flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, landing at Chiang Mai airport only 6 kms away, (the Chiang Mai airport code is CNX), or get a bus or an express train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. The 2nd class sleeper is very comfortable.

If you would like yoga lessons either at the apartment or at a yoga school 1 km away, by a certified teacher we can arrange that for you or even a relaxing Chiang Mai massage, or manicure/pedicure.

Also if you want to learn Thai cooking there is an excellent Chiang Mai cooking class in the country where you get to pick your own home grown, organic, fresh vegetables in season, before learning to cook several dishes of delicious Thai food.

We can arrange a motorbike to rent in Chiang Mai , or a scooter or car hire (with or without driver), lunch beside the lake, or even a trip to Elephant Nature Park.

We are only 600 m from Varee International School and only a couple of kilometres from ABS or Ambassador Bilingual School.

We can even recommend an excellent Chiang Mai dentist, as good dental care here is so inexpensive.

We also run kayaking and cruises tours from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang in Laos, down the Mekong River. These adventure tours are typically 1 to 3 days depending on route taken if you would like to go.

The street is a no exit, so only local traffic goes by. It is very quiet and secure in a suburb that is typically Thai with lumyai orchards, rice paddies and mainly older style wooden teak houses and excellent, cheap local restaurants.

It's safe to walk the streets at night, which are well-lit.

There's a small shop 100m away for daily snacks, beer, etc, the main shopping area is 89 Plaza with a Tesco Express mini store 1km away along with coffee shops, bank, lunch restaurants, food carts and markets. Promenada - a shopping mall 3 kms away has a large modern supermarket, cinemas, etc. You can use the free bikes to cycle there if you wish.

It's about 6 kms from the old city. Most people hire a scooter as many of Chiang Mai's adventure attractions are NW of the city more than 20kms out.

On Mondays and Wednesdays afternoons there's an amazing market at 89 Plaza in Nong Hoi 2 kms away selling farm fresh vegetables and fruit, roast chicken, fresh fish, sushi, etc, all at extremely low prices.

In town the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is on every night, and on Sunday evenings there's Chiang Mai Sunday market called Walking Street a massive market with just about everything you could possibly want.

I am an adventurous Kiwi who has lived and worked across the region for over 20 years, 18 of them in Thailand. I have travelled all over South East Asia by trail bike much of it off-road and have made Chiang Mai my home, as it's such a fabulous place to live. Great climate, wonderfully friendly, warm people, delicious Northern Thai food, and an unequalled, chilled out relaxed pace of life. After 20 years here, I have a good understanding of Thai culture and also the best places to visit in Chiang Mai and surrounds depending on your preferences Chiang Mai is an ancient city surrounded by a moat and is a tourist mecca with a great coffee culture and has all the amenities of a modern city, yet still retains its old-world charm and gentle Lanna style culture and hospitality. It has many temples, and is handy to dozens of tourist activities from bungee jumping, elephant nature parks, carousing with tigers, zip lining, and trips on a rented scooter into the neighbouring mountains. It always has a place in the 5 Top best Cities in the World to live as voted for by the readers of the prestigious Travel + Leisure website. What keeps me fit and curious is off road motorcycling and running kayaking, cruises and mountain biking adventure tours down the Mekong River in Laos www. (Website hidden by Airbnb) and building schools in remote riverside villages along the Mekong. I still do a lot of off-road motorcycling in Laos and also love to travel across the region. Like most people here, I'm very relaxed as I've been here a while, and know all the best places to eat, and visit depending on your preferences. Also all the exciting places you probably won't find listed in Lonely Planet or Trip Advisor. Family motto is "do something everyday that scares you"

During your stay
Guests can have as much or as little of our time as they'd like. We can advise where to go, what to do and see, especially a few of our favourite, secret restaurants that you won't find online or in the guide books.

Also for eating out, there are so many excellent Thai, Lanna (northern Thai), Japanese, Vietnamese, etc restaurants all within a couple of clicks for lunch or dinner, plus our favourite bars and bistros. Food is delicious, very fresh and so inexpensive.

On Monday and Wednesday afternoons, there is a huge fresh food market just down the road selling seasonal food you probably have never seen before.

If you'd rather western fast food, KFC, McDonalds, pizza etc, all deliver to the house on a phone call, as does Food Panda who will order and deliver from numerous restaurants.
