RAINBOW looks like a small village with volcanic waters and cozy cabins. Located in the village of Santa Catarina Palopo, on the shore of Lake Atitlan, it offers a spectacular view of the lake and all its imposing volcanoes. Unique wooden geodesic cabins provide warmth and luxury. You can enjoy life peacefully among beautiful flowers and healing waters, in front of the most beautiful lake in the world.

The space
We have 4 wooden geodetic cabins; numbers 1 and 2 have an attached half bathroom, 3 and 4 do not. In addition, there are two bathrooms for use by all guests, these have showers. Our pool uses abundant hot water through our volcanic water source. Our solar water heater heats fresh water from another well for our bathrooms and kitchen. Each cabin has a queen size sofa bed.

We can also provide additional sleeping space in tents (we have one) by special arrangement.

Common facilities include two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, covered outdoor dining area and a volcanic pool with its own terrace and bar. Further up on the property is a banana plantation and an avocado orchard. We offer a temascal (like a sauna) as well as an additional outdoor shower naturally heated by warm volcanic water. The local theme for 6 people is free for our guests, as is the volcanic pool and all the facilities.*

*We use wood (or coal) for each use of the temescal, campfire, or barbecue. We ask for $5 (or Q40), in cash, onwards, every time the guest asks for those services.

Where you’ll be

Santa Catarina Palopó, Sololá Department, Guatemala

In addition to our beautiful volcanic pool and gardens, the main attraction of Arco Iris are the ever-changing panoramic views of Lake Atitlan and its spectacular backdrop of imposing conical volcanoes: Tolimán, Atitlán and San Pedro (and the Cerro de Oro volcano), all visible live on the great natural screen of Arco Iris.

The village of Santa Catarina has only two car paths: one that passes through Santa Catarina from the resort town of Panajachel on the way to the village by the lake of San Antonio Palopó; the other is the one-block path from the church to the pier that passes through our door.

Outside Rainbow the people of Santa Catarina maintain their sales of many handicrafts and fabrics. It is easy to get to know the lake and the town on foot - also go up the sidewalks above the village. Most of Santa Catarina is freshly painted - and very pretty!

    During your stay

We reserve our facilities for only one group at a time (2 to 8 people), who will have exclusive use of our volcanic pool, cabanas, temascal, kitchen and all our other facilities during your stay in Arco Iris. We do not accept different groups of people in Rainbow at the same time (or visits from unregistered people).

To avoid any risk of contamination, our crew will wear masks in the presence of our customers. In addition, our policy is to leave a full day between each group to do a more complete cleaning (when possible).

For reasons of avoiding contamination and privacy of guests, our crew member does not provide cleaning service inside cabins during the stay of guests. We also do not wash guests' dishes, although we will do a general cleaning of the kitchen every day during the night when there are no guests present; on that occasion we empty the trash can and recycle the organic waste.

The use of the campfire, barbecue, and temescal is free, and available with a news of at least an hour on. The lena (or carbon) for each such event costs an average of $5 (or Q40), this amount payable in cash when the guest requests service.

Any other services, such as' tours', transportation, chef, prepared meals, equipment or furniture rents, etc., are arranged and paid for independently, although we will help when we can.
