Ogletree Cabin is a private retreat nestled on 85 acres of stunning hardwood and pines- just a three-minute walk to lovely Toad Lake. The beach is a great jumping-off place to swim out to the raft, fish on Toad Lake (where we are the only house on the lake), sit on the screened-in porch off of the fishing shack, and go kayaking and canoeing. Please take note that the cabin has one bedroom with queen and a loft with three beds accessible by a ladder only and not safe for young children.

The space
Each season at Ogletree Cabin brings a new surprise. In the spring we will be offering Morel mushroom hunting weekends. Springtime is also a glorious time to watch the birds return and start noisily looking for mates and watch the antics of nest building.
Summer is always full of activity. Swimming, fishing, and water sports. We are only 45 minutes from the fabulous Michigan wine country and 90 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes. The entire Charlevoix area has beaches for the public to enjoy. On the property play a few games of bocce or corn hole as the sun goes down.
Fall is STUNNING at Ogletree Cabin. You get the full glory of the changing of the colors right outside your door. Walk right out and walk on the seasonal road or bike over to the other end of Toad Lake. Sit outside at night either at the cabin or on the beach and enjoy a good fire while stargazing in one of the dark sky areas.
Winter is a great time to be at Ogletree Cabin. If you have never done ice fishing- now is the time to try it, there is just something about standing in the middle of the lake and enjoying the grace of a sunny afternoon that stays with you after you have gone. Enjoy sledding on a hill perfect for kids and weather allowing we will have ice skating on Toad Lake. Bring your own snowshoes which is a great way to see the property on the trails. End your day by lighting a fire in the woodstove and having a glass of wine. The loft bedroom has two twin beds and a nice daybed all accessible by a ladder only and not safe for young children.

One of the 10 dark spots of USA. Close proximity to Lake Michigan. Michigan wine country around the corner. Charlevoix, Petoskey and Traverse City to visit. It’s about 50 miles to the Mackinac Straights and Mackinac Bridge. Mackinac Island with its Grand Hotel (featured in “Somewhere in Time” Movie) is well worth a day trip.

We will be on the property the whole of the stay. Our house is located 200 yards from the cabin. We will also be enjoying our beautiful woods, paths and lake!
