The Nest is a private, airy and spacious self catering cottage on the same property as The Castle on Champagne Ridge near Kiserian. With 180 degree panoramic views sweeping across the Rift Valley it is the perfect place to lay in the hammock or relax on the 3 seater sofa and unwind. The one-of-a-kind custom built King size bed with hotel quality mattress and imported linen guarantees a deep restful sleep. The gas BBQ grill on the outside patio makes self catering a breeze.

The space
The living spaces face the incredible vista, and with far warmer weather than Nairobi all the doors open fully so you can bring the view into your living space.

The bedroom doors open to the magical landscape; the perfect setting to wake up and enjoy a morning coffee. You will be amazed how the scenery changes throughout the day as the sun moves from behind to the front of the cottage. The sunsets alone will leave you in awe of Champagne Ridge.

The large patio area boasts a hammock, outdoor furniture and the all important gas BBQ grill.

The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need including a 3 burner gas cooktop, fridge, pots, pans, crockery and utensils. We also supply milk, coffee, tea and sugar as well as salt and pepper.

The bathroom is special! Without wanting to spoil the surprise, the shower will have you doing a little dance - you won't be able to stop yourself!

In additional to supplying towels there is also soap, shower gel and toilet paper.

Guest access
Guests have access to 10 acres of our property including the dam. Much of the surrounding area is not fenced so you are free to go for long walks either on top of the cliff or down in the valley.

Champagne Ridge is famous for stunning views and brilliant hiking and biking. It is a very safe area only 1 hour from Karen, 30 minutes from Kiserian or 45 minutes from Ngong Town.

During the rainy season (April/May and Nov) you may need a 4x4. We get significantly less rain than Nairobi so most days the last 12kms from Kona Baridi on the murrum road is bumpy but fine for all cars, occasionally it does rain making the road a little slippery in parts.

Location

Kiserian, Kajiado County, Kenya

The Nest on Champagne Ridge is only 1 hour from Karen, 30 minutes from Kiserian and 45 minutes from Ngong Town.

The Nest is situated on the same property as The Castle, 11.5kms from the turn off at Kona Baridi off Magadi Road (on the way to Champagne 4x4 Park) on a good murrum road.

The Nest at The Castle on Champagne Ridge is not far from Ngong, Kiserian, Ongata Rongai or Karen in distance but feels like an entirely different World. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life we enjoy a chilled relaxed rural lifestyle.

We are only 8kms from the new Champagne 4x4 Park where several 4x4 off road and rallying events are held throughout the year.

During the rainy season (April/May and Nov) you may need a 4x4. We get significantly less rain than Nairobi so most days the last 11.5kms from Kona Baridi on the murrum road is bumpy but fine for all cars, occasionally it does rain making the road a little slippery in parts.

Originally from Adelaide, Australia I have lived on the African continent since 2003 working in tourism as well as running our own community solar power project Napenda Solar Community. I have spent the better part of my working life outside of Australia and living all over the World. Our place in Kenya is our refuge, a place to relax and recharge the batteries. I love to cook so spend my free time in the kitchen working on some new recipe or simply experimenting with various ingredients and textures. We have a small organic garden which we try and grow some veggies, our area is semi desert so this poses as a challenge during the dry season. We have 5 German Shepherd dogs; Sally, Stella, Beau, Zanny and Pikey who are thoroughly spoiled, although they may not agree! They love their daily walks, swimming in the dam and playing soccer (football). Sally and Stella are adopted, while Beau and Zanny are rescue dogs; and Pikey arrived on our front lawn in Dec 2019 begging for food and never left! I live with my husband, Tim, and 5 dogs; we love traveling and the dogs love camping! The Castle is open to all regardless of religion, culture, sexual orientation or nationality. After all, variety is the spice of life.

We have 5 dogs, Sally, Stella, Beau, Zanny and Pikey our GSDs; they are very friendly and will come to greet you when you arrive. Beau, Zanny and Pikey are rescue dogs so they sometimes keep their distance.
