Tucked away on Strode Avenue an enchanting cottage, filled with a colourful character, awaits. Upon arrival, treat yourself to a welcome glass of sherry, then sit back and enjoy the charming ambience of number three before exploring Naseby.

Strode Avenue is just a few minutes stroll from the local pub and café. It is a short bike ride away from the Swimming Dam road access to the forest.

You'll find all your creature comforts such as tea, coffee, TV, wifi and games!

The space
As you drive into the town, you are welcomed by a sign that reads ‘2000 feet above worry level’. After a mini break at three strode avenue, we hope all your stresses and worries will be well behind you!

The cottage is set back off Strode Avenue, and is very private. There is plenty of outdoor space to play in and enjoy the sun! Inside the house, you'll be perfectly comfortable, and there is lots to keep you entertained.

Where you’ll be

Naseby, Otago, New Zealand

Below the Ida Range, tucked away in forestry surroundings, is the ‘jewel of the Maniototo’ – the historic town of Naseby.

There are plenty of things to do in Naseby:
- mountain bike over the 52 kms of grades 1 to 5 – it’s the ultimate playground for mountain bike beginners through to advanced. Our favourites include Poor Man’s and Hepi Highway.

- walk in the forest following the Mount Ida Water Race - the track follows the course of the race through the forest and provides a flat, easy walk upstream from the Naseby swimming dam:
o swimming dam to Hoffmans Dam 1.5 hours;
o swimming dam to Coalpit Dam* 2.5 hours
o swimming dam to Coalpit Dam and return via Species Walk 3.5 hours.
*there is a picnic area, playground, and toilets at Coalpit Dam

- curl at the Maniototo Curling International Ice Rink – in winter, there’s also an outdoor rink used for curling, ice skating and ice hockey, plus a downhill luge!

- play golf on the 9 hole public course

- pratice astronomy – the night sky viewed from Naseby is out of this world – don’t forget to look up – you’ll be blown away by the pristine clarity of the starry skies.

- wander around the town and admire the perfectly preserved Victorian shops and buildings.
