The Good: The location is great. It’s close to the beach, walking distance to some fun places to eat. The house is a neat example of old style beach house. It has potential. The Bad: This little house could have a lot of charm. The owner totally knows this and the bad side …

Christian, Please keep in mind this house has been in our family for over 60 years. We have had many family members and friends enjoy our quaint cottage. The wicker furniture is "Turn Of The Century." We take great pride in our home. We acknowledge that Immediately after your arrival we received the complaint there were no CEREAL BOWLS for your child and the silverware drawer was not clean to your satisfaction. This is the first we have heard that you and your wife had to go out and buy cleaning supplies and clean our house. There were never any complaints about the beds, bathrooms, linens, floors when we spoke. Our housekeeper, Cynthia, was immediately notified and within two hours after check-in she offered to come by and take care of any problems you had with the house. You refused her offer , yet attempted to convince us she had never even made the effort. In fact, your words were, "she never showed up and gave a sob story." I assume you thought she was lying. Please understand her mother is terminally ill in a Dallas hospital seven hours away and she had referred the job to someone else that day who apparently did not do as good a job. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Perhaps given the chance to correct the things you were displeased with, this review would have come out differently. The comment about putting your renters/clients between one of your service providers and yourself . . . Well, you called with complaints. I dispatched the maid. I'm not sure how the other tens of thousands of Airbnb and (Hidden by Airbnb) folks would handle that any differently. Certainly open to suggestions. In fact, before submitting this review you even asked how we thought you should review us based on this "outlier due to a confluence of situations," then proceeded to solicit something in exchange for that. That was confusing to us. You then suggested we treat you to margaritas at La Playa, which we were happy to do. Nonetheless you chose the alternative. In response to the yard, we were on a two-week mowing schedule because of the drought here in Texas; and luckily we finally had some rain and grass to boot so the yard folks had not made it back out. In fact, our family was there several days after you and the yard looked beautiful and thick and green and the house was immaculate, as always. (Website hidden by Airbnb) As far as not being in the same town as my vacation home, I'm not sure how many folks actually live in the same town as their "vacation home." So I don't know quite how to respond to that curiosity. It is very difficult to maintain a FAMILY vacation home from a distance but we do the best we can. It's not only hard to keep it consistently nice for everyone; it's heartbreaking the disrespect with which the guests treat our property, breaking things, taking things, leaving it trashed . . . It's also situations like this that make us wish we didn't have to rent our house out at all. Unfortunately, it's the only way we can afford to own a vacation home for those precious few times we can make it down to Port Aransas and enjoy the shore and fond memories.

Tressa and Sherrie were great hosts: communicative and helpful, and willing to work with us to figure out if our party would fit at their beach house. The home was clean and in a quiet neighborhood near the beach. We spent the weekend walking to the beach, grilling in the backyar…

We really enjoyed our long weekend in Port A. The house was just the right size for our family. We love "old town" of Port A so the location was great. Easy to walk around town, even to the Beach. I wish we had brought our Bikes. Tressa was a great host, easy to communicate wit…

Tressa was a fine host. She has a dedicated person in Port Aransas to manage the property, and a simple and professional check-in procedure. The cottage was for the most part as expected and a good value on the island because it was clean and offered a lot of space for the cost…
