We’ve had the most wonderful stay at Jackie’s home whilst celebrating my dad’s special birthday. The house itself is quite spectacular yet very homely indeed. There was plenty of space to accommodate our group of eleven. And it’s set in the most gorgeous countryside. So peacefu…

Thank you so much for this Louise and I'm only sorry that the timings over the weekend were such that we didn't meet you in person. It was a delight to meet your family, and even the village pub helped your father celebrate his birthday in the live music evening. We're so pleased you explored the area and that you like the house and the village. Thanks also for leaving the house so very neat and tidy - it is much appreciated. Kind regards, Jackie and Peter

The Old Rectory is a marvellous property in the lovely little village of Great Asby. There’s lots of nice walking very close by and for cyclists the climb of Great Dunn Fell is a short ride away. Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick are only a 45 to 50 minutes drive away so it also …

Marc, we're pleased you had a great weekend and thank you for leaving the house so extremely neat and tidy. You are ideal guests! I'm really delighted that you spotted the advantages of Great Asby - Lakes to the west, Pennines and Dales to the east and tranquillity back at base after a busy day. But you must come back and sample our revitalised village pub, which is now back to being a village focal point! Thanks and hope to see you again. Jackie

Thank you for this Naomi and also for leaving the house so neat and tidy. Although there's not too much going on in the village itself (which is part of its charm!) you visited the celebrated Dufton Show and also enjoyed the spectacular scenery of the Appleby to Settle railway, both of which are within easy reach. We'd be delighted for you to come back! Jackie and Peter

We booked the Old Rectory for our father's 70th birthday celebrations. We were all absolutely delighted as it was warm, welcoming and well-equipped. It was ideal for a large family (ours ranged from 3 months to 70 years old). Jackie and Peter were wonderful hosts, very approac…

We are so pleased you enjoyed your family celebration in the Old Rectory, and we much appreciate your kind comments. We're so lucky that peaceful villages like Great Asby are still unspoilt and here to be enjoyed by guests wanting to get away from life's rush! Hope to see you both again. All the best, Jackie and Peter.

Thank you so much for this Mark and we're so pleased your special family get-together was successful. We sometimes take the peace and quiet of Great Asby and the Eden Valley a bit for granted - until we go away to enjoy the buzz of other places (the club scene within 10 miles of the Rectory isn't too hot) and then come back home again! Thanks for leaving the house so extremely tidy. We hope to see you again. All the best, Jackie and Peter.

We stayed at The Old Rectory in celebration of my Mother-In-Law's 70th birthday. The house really is fantastic;a secluded delight that the pictures really don't do justice of. Jackie & Peter were fabulous hosts;so warm and welcoming and always on hand for extra help. The homely f…

Caroline, we're delighted you enjoyed your special family get-together, and thank you for telling others about it! We think the Old Rectory is very special, not just for its family atmosphere but also because having as many 'living' rooms as bedrooms (6 of each) gives everyone space to spread out; your reference to hide and seek takes us back to our own children's parties 30 years ago. We hope you'll be back and see some more of the lovely unspoilt Eden Valley! Kind regards, Jackie and Peter.

We're Jackie and Peter Lambert. We bought the Rectory from the Church in 1982 because it offered us the space to bring up our children in the quiet security of a Cumbrian village. Thirty years later, rather than leave our much loved family home and a brilliant village, we've re…
