The space

Experience Stockholm in the best way possible.

This unique property comprises an entire peninsula of about 14 000 sq. meters, giving you the sense that you are on your own island. Go swimming from the cliffs or enjoy your own private beach. The children have their own hilly woods where they can climb trees and pick blueberries. There’s also a lawn for soccer matches or a friendly game of croquet.

The old jetty is perfect for setting the table and having dinner outside while the sun is setting (be aware that in Stockholm the sun is up until 11 pm in the summer) or walk to the top of the peninsula for sundowners. From there you will have a magnificent view over Höggarnsfjärden with water in all directions.

The house is an authentic 19th century Swedish cottage that has been carefully renovated and updated with all the modern facilities and appliances that you’ve come to expect, WC, shower, washing machine, dishwasher and wifi (with some limitations). At 190 square meters it’s very spacious and can sleep up to 11 people. Don’t worry, the large kitchen table will seat everyone! The house also has a roof covered wooden deck that let’s you enjoy all your meals outside if you want, and it’s perfect for barbeques and drinks.

Included in the rent is also your on boat with a 25 hp motor and a row boat with a 6 hp engine. Take the kids fishing or teach them water skiing. You´ll find life vests and some fishing gear in the house.

The house can be reached in two ways. If you have a car you get your own parking lot by the marina on the mainland, 500 meters from the house. You can then use the boat that’s included in the rent to get between your car and the house (when you first arrive we will pick you up with the boat).

If you don’t have a car you can take the commuter ferry from downtown Stockholm (by Grand Hotel opposite the royal castle). It’s a 30-minute beautiful boat ride through the archipelago. Once you arrive it’s a 15-minute walk to the house. The commuter ferry is also perfect for day trips to Stockholm once your have settled in. It let’s you enjoy the city while staying in the archipelago. You don’t need a car to stay here.

We will be happy to answer any questions that you might have and if you decide to come we will make sure that you have a fantastic family vacation!

Best regards Mats & Sara

The house is perfectly situated on a small island with convenient and quick access by boat. The rooms are spacious. The two boats provided by the owner, a small speedboat and a larger slow boat, were fun to use to tour the Stockholm archipelago. The kids loved the house, the numerous toys and dolls, the outside trampoline, and the nature surrounding the house. The adults, however, had some caveats about important information that was missing from the listing, and may have caused us to think twice about our decision to rent: First, the water. When we arrived, Mats notified us that the water at the house is quite smelly and drinking water is available from a few big cans stocked on the front porch. The information booklet in the living room included instructions on where to fill up these cans – a certain faucet which is a 7-minute boat ride and a 10-minute walk away from the house. A schlepp. Indeed, the water had a strong sulphur smell, and even taking a shower with them was unpleasant, not to mention brushing teeth. We only needed to fill up the water cans once during our stay, but this was an inconvenience. Too bad this whole issue was not mentioned in the listing. Second, the interior of the house. In our opinion, it was not the advertised “carefully renovated and updated”. The interior was old and worn out. No microwave in kitchen. Barely any power sockets in the bedrooms to charge our electronics. Strangely laid out bathroom with transparent glass doors and a curtain to hide the person showering. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and the issues above did not terribly bother us. We simply think they are significant enough that they should have been mentioned in the listing.

We are a family of four and spent some great days here. The property is really magnificent: it offers a wonderful experience of the peaceful setting in the Stockholm archipelago. We enjoyed the sea from rocks and little beaches, the boats were another extra. Our kids loves the trampoline and the little football field. The hiuse itself is an old lady, but still very charming (including modern facilities as dish washer, water toilet etc). Beds are good as well. All in all a very good experience, if you look for a natural hideaway with connection to Stockholm city.

We had a wonderful week here. The wooded peninsular is stunning, and yet so easy to get to from Stockholm. The house is well equipped and easily big enough for two families ( there were 9 of us). It's like staying in a beautiful and much loved family home ...slightly worn in places but stylish and completely comfortable, and great for kids, because we didn't have to worry about them messing it up. We cooked great food, enjoyed sitting drinking on the veranda looking at the beautiful views, playing on the rocks, picking blueberries, boat trips for shopping, and bouncing on the trampoline. We have many happy memories of our week on this lovely island.
