Located in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, this cosy shepherd’s hut (the Hogget) which is a juvenile sheep, nestles amongst the hills of the Scottish Highlands and is perfectly placed to enjoy the stunning views over Balquhidder Glen and Loch Voil. Whether you’re looking to explore the local hills and cycle trails or just relax and enjoy the scenery and wildlife, the Hogget Hut is the perfect hideaway.

The space
In days gone by, a shepherd's hut would be used by shepherds to tend their flock especially at lambing time. Bringing a touch of luxury to the traditional, the Hogget hut has all the amenities to make your stay an enjoyable experience. Park up your car or secure your bike and take a short stroll to the hut which features a fully equipped kitchenette complete with Belfast sink, fridge, microwave, induction hob, wood burning stove, shower, toilet, heated towel rail and storage. Kick off your boots, pick up a good book, listen to the radio or just watch the red squirrels in the nearby oak tree. If you choose to, you can also enjoy access to a Nordic style BBQ hut located on site. Just let us know before you arrive.

Where you’ll be

Balquhidder, Scotland, United Kingdom

The Braes of Balquhidder is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Steeped in history and legend, the Celts believed it to be a ‘thin place’ where the boundary between the spiritual world and the earthly world is minimal. Rob Roy McGreggor, the infamous 17th century outlaw who lived in and around the area, is buried locally in Balquhidder kirk. Along one of the many walks and visible from the hut is Creag an Turic (Boars rock), the ancient rallying place of the Clan MacLaren.
