All are welcome here! This lakefront artsy cottage will keep you easy, breezy and comfortable on your vacation. Swim in the summer, ski in the winter, enjoy nature year round! This house is great for couples, friends and families.

The space

This artsy cottage has 2 bedrooms featuring a king and a full and a couch bed that can fit 2 more people. If you could send an inquiry before requesting to book that would be great.

Our house is an older cottage with 1950's grandma charm. Expect vintage linoleum. That being said, we do have a new bathroom, stove, dishwasher, fridge, roof and mattresses. We live in the house half of the year.

Crystal Lake is a deep, clear, natural glacial lake. 70 feet deep, Crystal clear, spring fed. Widely considered the nicest lake in the area! There is a constant breeze because we are high on a ridge, making Crystal lake a great escape from sticky city life. Our private lake access is directly in front of the house, about 75 feet from the front door. You can chill in hammock, take out the canoe, go for a swim or sun on the deck.

Our house is backed by a golf course, making for picturesque views from both sides of the house. The backyard is flat and a nice spot to throw the frisbee. We also have a toddler slide.

Elk mountain is 10 miles away, a quick 18 minute drive.

We have very comfortable beds. And amazing sunset and sunrise views. You'll have a blast!

Guest access

Bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, lakefront, lake, backyard, canoe, hammock.

Interaction with guests

My husband and I will be sleeping elsewhere but will come by to makes sure your are finding everything. If You'll have our cell phone numbers as well. Occasionally we may need to stop in to fix something, or pick something up.

Other things to note

This is a cozy, romantic family cottage, great for curling up to read a great book in. Have fun sledding behind the house with the neighborhood kids, skiing, relaxing by the fire or in a hammock. Watch a movie and sleep in a very comfortable bed. Our vibe is mellow, comfortable and creative. We are popular with artists, ski instructors, families and small groups of friends. We want you to have fun, but we are not the place for an all out party.

We have a 11 month old, and although we have moved things around to do some light child proofing, you are still going to need to keep an eye on your little one. You are free you move things around as you need to...and give us any tips as to how things could be safer! We do have a travel playpen/crib available if you need it please let us know.

A cat often lives here, although she will not be here during your stay, please keep this in mind if someone in your party has severe allergies.

Please be aware that our deck by the lake does not have a railing yet, making for an awesome view, but maybe not the best place for little ones. Check out the pictures and see what you think.

This property has a beautiful view of the lake but thats it. We had quite a few issues with our stay ranging from cleanliness to a mouse in the kitchen to a hole in the ceiling and no curtains in the master bedroom. The photos don't accurately represent this property so beware.

Response from Liz:
I am so sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I did try to be honest in my description that we have an older home, with lots of quirks--and our price, 1/2 that of our new built neighbors next door reflects that. Most of our guests enjoy their stay, and I would have been happy to come up during your stay and do whatever I could to make your stay more comfortable.

The property is located in a private community on a private lake. There is a deck on the lake with a canoe and chairs. The deck provides amazing view of the sunrise. The amount of windows in the front of the house share that great view as well. When entering there is ample seating. Cooking the whole time there I was thoroughly impressed with the assortment of cookware as well as dishware. The two bedrooms were clean. The backyard is on the second hole of Elk CC near the tee box with a view of the first hole's green. The area is remote and secluded. Elk mountain sits close. I highly recommend Liz's property for her responsiveness and the greatness of facility.

Liz's place was the perfect place to stay for our ski weekend at Elk Mountain! We arrived very late on Friday night and found that Liz had left us a little goody basket and also everything we needed to make breakfast the first morning. Liz was easy to communicate with and was quick to respond to any questions we had. I would definitely recommend Liz's place if you're looking for a laid back weekend with friends!

Liz had great communication and very easy to work with. Had welcome basket for our arrival and breakfast "fixins" in the refrigerator. The house, as she mentions in her listing, is lived in and quite eclectic. My teenage kids thought it was cool. We enjoyed the wood burning stove and her record player! 15 minute ride to Elk Mountain. Good value for 4-5 people for ski weekend.

What a lovely lakehouse! Incredibly peaceful and comfortable, with easy lake access and plenty of outdoor space for tons of activity - frisbee, yoga on the deck, canoeing, reading, BBQ'ing, and more. Additionally, the area is great for a morning walk/run, and with a large grocery store about 15 minutes away. Getting together friends from DC and NYC, it was the perfect distance that felt like worlds away from either city. We've never had a more relaxing weekend! On top of all this, Liz is a wonderful host - so incredibly responsive and truly made sure we had everything we needed! Could not have appreciated that level of care more! Will definitely be bookmarking this for future weekends!

My mother and I had a very nice stay at Liz’s place. While it is cozy, it was more than enough space for just the two of us. With the summer temperatures in the 90s it was great to come into the cool air conditioning and clean, relaxing setting. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with lots of room in the fridge for the food that we brought and plenty of dishes available for cooking. And the living room was a great spot to sit and read or watch TV. Access to the lake is just a short, flat walk from the front of the house and across a small road that has very little traffic. There were more people out walking and jogging than cars going by. The deck makes a lovely spot to sit out and enjoy the view. Chairs were available but we brought our own folding/camping chairs to sit and read and take in the sunshine. One comment is that the step up to the deck is significant (maybe 18 inches or so). For people in shape this is not an issue at all. For my mother, who has trouble with any kind of stairs, it was a bit challenging to get up onto the deck and then back down. But we did it and it was well worth it. The deck gets a mixture of shade and sun as the day goes by and we were able to move our chairs around to get shade as needed, with a clear view of the beautiful lake at all times. Liz suggested the Hotel across the way for dining and we had a terrific dinner there with very friendly and attentive service. The restaurant seating is right on the water and makes for a great atmosphere. Getting around the lake was a bit tricky at first, we tried to enter the community from the north east entrance, but there was a post in the road to stop outside traffic from entering. We didn’t know how to work it (it supposedly submerges into the road) so we had to drive around and enter from another route. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps does not register this blocked passage so just avoid entering from that northern most route. Liz left a very kind note and a bottle of wine and was attentive via email to make sure we had everything we needed. Internet worked great.

I am from Northern Virginia ( near Washington DC) originally and I have lived in many places around the US. I am currently in Pennsylvania. I am an artist and ski instructor. I love to travel, I love animals, hiking, and being outside.

Artists and those needing a meditative escape have been coming to stay for years, and I love to share the healing creative energy of this house.

My husband Scott is my co-host, he is a chef and a ski instructor. Would you like him to make you a dinner during your stay? It's delicious and can be arranged for a small fee!
