Spacious room in a beautiful old house with lots of character. Not a showhome, but livable! Common areas are shared with me and 2 friendly cats.

Strong, fast wi-fi. Full kitchen access including all dishes, pots & pans, etc. Free laundry (washer + clothesline). Reliable AC, heat, and hot water. Lots of pillows and blankets, multiple towels per person. Power strip and wall hooks to make life easier!

The space
Your room has tons of natural light, a comfy bed, places to put your stuff, and a desk to work at. It's a high ceiling with a ceiling fan.

The house is a 1950s home with original wood floors, large rooms, and 12 to 16-foot ceilings. Window air conditioners in summer, wall-mount propane heaters in winter. You also get your own space-heater in winter in case you like it extra toasty!

THIS IS AN OLD HOME. The walls are not painted, they are currently 'patchy'. There are cracked tiles, stained countertops, chipped sinks. It is not bug-proof. For people who are used to living in new spaces, it "looks dirty" even when it is freshly clean. I assure you, your room and the bathroom and kitchen are thoroughly cleaned before each visit. But if you are used to "nice things", this place may not be for you.

The living room and dining room are not guest areas.

This is a cute old neighbourhood with most homes 50-100 years old (some more restored than others) and lots of gorgeous trees. The residents are racially diverse with a mix of younger families and older folks. Outdoor music and the sound of children playing are common.

It is not a swanky neighbourhood or a sterile suburb. It is a vibrant place. Folks sit on their front porches and see who is coming and going. I know all of my neighbours and they know me, and I have never had a problem with theft or vandalism.

Note: there is a train crossing nearby so you WILL hear trains a couple of times a day.
