Bracken House is located on the outskirts of of the Old Town, close to wineries, theatres, parks, and biking trails. Ideal for groups of friends, families or small staff retreats; there's room to ramble and relax, amidst the green spaces about.
Bracken House is a newly renovated 1,085 sq. ft. bungalow, bright and comfortable - pleasantly situated on a 2/3 acre property. The bedrooms all feature large windows that look out on the parks and vineyards about - you'll see many birds that frequent the mature gardens on the property. Cozy up in front of the wood-burning fireplace, and gather round the harvest table or small island adjoining the fully equipped kitchen.
Bracken House has a two-night minimum for each booking. For reservations of a week or less, unless specifically requested, guests will have access to the main floor of the house only. There is a BBQ and large patio table and lounge area on the rear patio, and casual seating on the front patio. There is a fire pit in the backyard, which makes for further gathering possibilities. There is a large room in the basement with two hide-a-bed couches (double beds), large screen tv, electric fireplace, and small dining table. There is also a third full bathroom adjacent to that basement room. This is available if there are more than 6 guests, and for an additional fee. Access to the basement laundry facilities is available upon request, and may incur an extra fee, depending on the duration of the stay.

Other things to note
If you have a larger group that would require more accommodations, reservations can be made to include one or both of the B&B Suites at Bushy House. Check our other airbnb listings, and combine the two.
Will it be a late arrival? Want to catch your breath first? Provisions for your first breakfast can be provided upon request, for an additional fee.
Bracken House is non-smoking. If you need to smoke, please do so outside and away from any open windows and doors. An ashtray will be provided there, upon request. Please be sensitive to noise for out-of-doors gatherings after 11pm. There is room to gather on the back patio with the BBQ there. In the front yard, we ask that the fire pit be closely attended, and doused when not. Please leave Bracken House tidy when you leave: there is garbage and recycling on Monday mornings, and compost bins in the kitchen. (We love garden compost!) If you have questions or concerns, we are available at Bushy House, right next door.
I am an artist who works sculpturally, lives creatively, teaches art at various elementary schools, and runs a successful B&B. Our family are all committed Christians, and we strive to live that out relationally and with integrity. And thankfulness.
I enjoy my book group, gardening, and our chickens. Our town is small and quaint; we have some good friendships here. Life expands even more as we have come to form friendships with some of the Jamaican seasonal workers who labour in the orchards and vineyards around us. Currently, I sit on the National Board of Young Life, and it is a privelege to work in this way with a wonderful organization. I count Young Life people among my most cherished life-long friendships. That responsibility heads me out to Western Canada a couple of times a year, where I can also take time to connect with family. My sister is a painter, and we love to get in the studio together (and watch a few movies in the evenings).
I do love film, and when I am feeling particularly in need of comfort I'll plug in a Jane Austen or Elizabeth Gaskell. Food is a good thing, and we have our share of local seasonal yummies around us. And don't get me started on music: Mozart to Bill Munroe to Van Morrison to Talking Heads - and a lot of in between.
