Big Dreams Farms is the perfect place for your family reunion, group retreat, or multi-family get away. Explore the property, play games in the rec room, have a movie night, sit in the pond room and watch the fish, or head to one of the gorgeous Yuba swimming holes (15 min). Visit the quaint Downtown districts of Grass Valley or Nevada City (20 min) to shop or enjoy a local restaurant. The Farm offers a lovely home base for your trip, whether it's an activity-filled getaway or a quiet retreat.

The space
The Main Floor at Big Dreams Farm is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath house with roomy kitchen, living room, dining room, and large deck with expansive valley views. To enter, you'll pass through the delightful Pond Room with it's multiple cozy seating area, including 2 sofa beds that offer additional sleeping accommodations.

If your group is larger, or you'd like to spread out a bit, consider adding one or more of the other areas at the Farm. (Find these by clicking my profile):
* The upstairs Dorm has a 1/2 bath, 5 single beds, and a separate room with a full size fold down couch, an enclosed porch with 2 daybeds for more 'hang out' space or 3 additional single beds.
* The Tiki Shack is a free-standing room about 100' from the main house (and bathroom!). It is decorated in a dreamy island theme and has a very comfortable king size bed, plus its own heat and ac.
* The Downstairs Apartment consists of a bedroom with queen size bed and a work station, plus a full bathroom, kitchenette, and large Rec Room with space for a dozen or more to enjoy a movie night on the 55" tv with sound system, or space for your workshop or retreat.

Some additional things to know about the property:

General Safety: The Farm is a rustic, natural environment! The roads and pathways around the property are not paved, and there are literally rocks everywhere. Walking carefully and wearing sturdy shoes can help avoid trips and falls. There are many 'walls' of rocks - please do not climb on these! They are not reinforced and rocks can come loose causing injury or damage. If you explore the property, you may find poison oak or even a rattlesnake. Both are safe as long as you keep your distance, but you must pay attention to where you walk! Black widow spiders are around, but very shy and stay hidden in dark, undisturbed places. Please take good care of yourself and your group, and remain safe while you visit Farm.

Noise: While the Farm provides great privacy, we do have neighbors! Please remain aware of the noise level and be conscientious, especially after 10pm.

WATER: The current drought has impacted our well, and our water supply is somewhat limited. We do have large storage tanks, and with conscientious water usage there is plenty to drink, cook, and bathe with. That said, it is important that guests understand that our water supply is limited and finite. Some ways to help support our well (and ensure that you do not run out of water!) are:
* Limiting the number and length of showers
* Turning off the water while washing hands, dishes, teeth, etc.
* Using septic system rules for the toilet – “If it's yellow it's mellow, if it's brown it's down.”

(Summertime)
Fire Safety: As you know, California is experiencing a severe drought, which creates very dangerous fire conditions. We have done a lot of very careful fire mitigation on the property, and the neighborhood has been certified a Fire Wise Community. That said, one careless spark could create a devastating wildfire.
While you are on the Farm:
* NO SMOKING of any kind is allowed anywhere on the property.
* NO FIRES or flames of any kind are allowed anywhere on the property. The only exceptions are the stove and the grill on the deck.
* Be aware of any situation, activity, or machine that could produce a spark, and discontinue immediately.
* Remember, fires grow out of control and move extremely quickly and can destroy huge areas before they’re brought under control. Please do what you can to help us care for the Farm and beyond.

Pool: The pool is a great way to cool off when it’s hot! Children MUST be supervised at all times for their safety, as well as to ensure that the pool itself is not damaged. Above-ground pools use a thick vinyl liner that can be punctured or torn easily by sharp items or rough play, both of which are strictly forbidden in or around the pool. Before entering the pool, use the pitcher to give yourself a quick shower and scrub to remove as much lotion, sunscreen, etc. This will help the water remain clear and inviting through your stay. Likewise, step into the grey tub to rinse the sand off of your feet before stepping onto the ladder and entering the pool.

During your stay

If I'm not on the Farm during your stay, our caretaker will be. We will be available if any questions or issues arise, but will otherwise respect your privacy and stay out of your way. The exception to this will be our morning chores, when we need to turn on irrigation and feed the pond fish. We'll check in about the best time to do this so we don't disturb you or your privacy.
