The space

Cottage on the lake

Bask in the early morning sunlight on the dock with your morning coffee or in the living room in front of the wall sized ‘infinity window’ with the view of the silver poplar reflecting sunlight over the quiet motor-free lake. (What we call the 'infinity window is the huge window in the living room that when you look through it all you see is water -no earth, like infinity pools!!!)
Enjoy swimming from the dock or take the canoe out to the little island, a 20 minute paddle away for a picnic and a dip!

Lots of sights to see in famous St-Élie-de-Caxton, home of re-known storyteller Fred Pellerin and the film Babine. Nearby in the village, you can take a hike up the Chemin De La Croix, take the guided tractor tour, visit the large public beach named Floribelle, and check out the medieval city Bucolline in St-Mathieu, or the Friday night Karaoke scene at the bar (if that happens to be more your thing!)
Just 15 minutes away, go for a jaw-dropping hike in the beautiful wilderness of Le Parc de La Mauricie or relax and bathe in the astounding waterfalls. On your way back, pick up a soft ice cream dipped in dark chocolate at the local ice cream place or stop off at the bakery for some tasty local treats. For a bite to eat, Le Rond Coin is the local Yourte offering unique grilled cheese specialties and soup in a very interesting atmosphere where you will find a beautiful miniature 'elf house' built into the bar.
Take a car ride to visit St-Alexis, for a stop at their local brewery where you can sample their beer Les Bières de la Nouvelle-France. You can order their samplers to taste each one of their brews for the price of one pint and then continue on to see the lake in the middle of the village. There is a Zoo in St-Edouard great for kids, you can feed the animals and there is a train that goes around the zoo.
If you love to bike, it is recommended to bring your bike, as the biking circuit runs all around where we are situated and up to La Mauricie. If it's too much trouble to bring yours, take the bike in the shed for a spin.
We also have two canoes and a pédalo with plenty of life jackets for all ages for daytime fun on the water.
In the evening, you can curl up with a blanket in front of the indoor or outdoor fireplace.
There is a tv with a dvd player in the closet if you wish to watch a movie.WE have plenty of great Dvds, cds and books you can borrow.
There is no telephone reception but there is internet access. Plenty of good books for quiet moments in front of the fireplace and to sink into the peace and enjoy the sounds of nature.

Catherine's place is just magic! We spent a wonderful time on the lake canoeing and in the house just watching the view from the living room which offers a unique panorama. The village is very close and you can find there everything you need. We didn't meet Catherine but she is answering very fast and made our trip very easy thanks to all the precise instructions. Thanks again Catherine for all! We will keep amazing memories at your place

What a cosy place! Catherine's cottage, with its stunning view, its floating deck, its comfy living room and well equipped kitchen was the perfect home base for visiting the Mauricie area. We enjoyed the very welcoming village of saint Elie and activities on the lake. Big plus, the mosquitoes were only out from 6PM to 7PM! The girls enjoyed the toys and dvds for rainy times. Thank you ! (And although we are on the tall side, the bathroom was really ok!)

We stayed at Catherine's for 2 nights and our experience was much better than expected! This is a small, clean and cozy family cottage. If you are looking for a fancy chalet to stay indoors - you better keep looking :). This place is everything but fancy on the inside, but absolutely amazing on the outside! The lake, the deck, the canoe, the pedal boat, the fire pit, the little island, the twilights and the stars at night will make you fall in love with this place! Merci beacoup Catherine for such a great experience! Hope to visit your place again in the future!

Very Nice view On the lake. Wonderful place to swim, to fish, to sit at the fire, to kano, to pedalo. All available at the house. Quiet place. We visited Parc de la Mauricie. It 's close 35 minutes drive. The house is an old family vacation house. It's nice to stay for a few days, but we prefer more comfort for a langer stay. We enjoyed the two days we spend here .... but don't forget your bugspray .... but the bugs het you anyway.

Catherine took care of everything for us. It was our honeymoon and we wanted a quiet getaway. This was perfect. There is a fireplace and a great view of the water. It was amazing and I wish we get a chance to visit in the summer.

We had a wonderful time at Catherine's family cottage. The location was perfect and being so close to the water was so relaxing for us. Catherine was very flexible and accommodating and provided a very detailed house manual as well as ideas for places to go and things to see. We felt very welcome and comfortable from the moment we walked in. One thing to note is the height of the bathroom is quite short l and as two very tall people it was a challenge for us to fit and also use the shower. We also made sure to bring drinking water because of the iron in the tap water. Gaetan was very helpful when we accidently locked ourselves out the first night! Thank you again for everything Catherine and family! We hope to come back one day soon.
