Cottage on the lake
Bask in the early morning sunlight on the dock with your morning coffee or in the living room in front of the wall sized ‘infinity window’ with the view of the silver poplar reflecting sunlight over the quiet motor-free lake. (What we call the 'infinity window is the huge window in the living room that when you look through it all you see is water -no earth, like infinity pools!!!)
Enjoy swimming from the dock or take the canoe out to the little island, a 20 minute paddle away for a picnic and a dip!
Lots of sights to see in famous St-Élie-de-Caxton, home of re-known storyteller Fred Pellerin and the film Babine. Nearby in the village, you can take a hike up the Chemin De La Croix, take the guided tractor tour, visit the large public beach named Floribelle, and check out the medieval city Bucolline in St-Mathieu, or the Friday night Karaoke scene at the bar (if that happens to be more your thing!)
Just 15 minutes away, go for a jaw-dropping hike in the beautiful wilderness of Le Parc de La Mauricie or relax and bathe in the astounding waterfalls. On your way back, pick up a soft ice cream dipped in dark chocolate at the local ice cream place or stop off at the bakery for some tasty local treats. For a bite to eat, Le Rond Coin is the local Yourte offering unique grilled cheese specialties and soup in a very interesting atmosphere where you will find a beautiful miniature 'elf house' built into the bar.
Take a car ride to visit St-Alexis, for a stop at their local brewery where you can sample their beer Les Bières de la Nouvelle-France. You can order their samplers to taste each one of their brews for the price of one pint and then continue on to see the lake in the middle of the village. There is a Zoo in St-Edouard great for kids, you can feed the animals and there is a train that goes around the zoo.
If you love to bike, it is recommended to bring your bike, as the biking circuit runs all around where we are situated and up to La Mauricie. If it's too much trouble to bring yours, take the bike in the shed for a spin.
We also have two canoes and a pédalo with plenty of life jackets for all ages for daytime fun on the water.
In the evening, you can curl up with a blanket in front of the indoor or outdoor fireplace.
There is a tv with a dvd player in the closet if you wish to watch a movie.WE have plenty of great Dvds, cds and books you can borrow.
There is no telephone reception but there is internet access. Plenty of good books for quiet moments in front of the fireplace and to sink into the peace and enjoy the sounds of nature.
