Stunning views of Hobart and the Derwent River. A quirky and comfortable 60's house with a magnificent panoramic view of the Derwent River, Tasman Bridge, casino, Battery Point, Eastern shore and beyond. With native trees and birds, this is a warm and sunny property with open plan living flowing out to a large deck. Great location to relax and watch the river action - ships, yachts, ferries and sea planes. Only 10 minutes from Hobart!

Location

Mount Nelson, Tasmania, Australia

This is a peaceful neighbourhood in a bush setting. That's not to say you can't entertain and have fun. We just ask (for the neighbours sake), that it's not all night.

The bird life is wonderful and includes rosella's, parrots, blue wrens, wattle birds, black and white cockatoo's, kookaburra's and the rare white gos hawk. Wallabies and rabbits roam freely on Mount Nelson - best time is dusk and dawn.

There is an extensive network of bush walking tracks on Mount Nelson - some close by and several more are accessible from the Mount Nelson Signal Station lookout (8 mins drive). There is a restaurant/cafe at the Signal Station lookout - the views are stunning. Bicentennial Park is a huge nature reserve and contains remnant native bush land that supports a variety of native plant communities and provides habitat for endangered species such as the swift parrot.

Natural beauty is on your doorstep and only 10 minutes from the city centre.

The Mount Nelson Store is 15 minutes walk uphill, but it is not steep. A beautiful walk or ride the bus. The Hill St Grocer is 15 minutes walk down the hill (opp Tas Uni) and both stores stock great food, local wine, beer and bake house breads.

Please Note: There is a 3 night minimum stay 1 December to 28 February and 8 June to 16 July each year.

An active and easygoing person, I lived and worked in Melbourne for 20 years and travelled extensively. I now enjoy life in Hobart and everything it has to offer: Clean air, great food and festivals, wine and local entertainment PLUS loads of natural beauty. As my guest, you will have as much privacy as you like and everything you need including help with local knowledge, getting around, best eateries, music, theatre and arts venues as well as 'what's on' in Hobart. If you like no contact at all, that is what you shall have. I look forward to making your stay as comfortable as possible. And if you have nothing to do, sit on the balcony and enjoy the river action - ships, yachts and ferries as well as beautiful sunrises, big skies and moons and an abundance of bird life in your bush setting. And if you don't want to venture outside.....you can see all from your Skybed.
