Stunning views of Hobart and the Derwent River. A quirky and comfortable 60's house with a magnificent panoramic view of the Derwent River, Tasman Bridge, casino, Battery Point, Eastern shore and beyond. With native trees and birds around you, this is a warm and sunny property with open plan living flowing out to a large deck. Great location to relax and watch the river action - cruise ships, yachts, ferries and sea planes. Only 10 minutes from Hobart!

The space
Amazing views from this 1960's house which boasts a great layout designed to maximise sun, light and fabulous views. A warm and well-appointed home all on one level, the main living space is a combined lounge/dining/kitchen which looks east/north east to the expansive River Derwent, Sandy Bay Marina, Battery Point and the Tasman Bridge. There is a huge and luxurious, round swivel chair in the sunny north/east corner window - once you are in, you won't want to get out! (Trust me.)

Perfect for entertaining while you watch yachting, cruise ships and tall ships action from the large balcony, living area and 2 of the bedrooms which enjoy expansive views by day and night. A cast iron Chiminea is set for you to enjoy fire evenings on the balcony.

A fully equipped kitchen caters for those who wish to entertain and quality appliances include a funky red retro SMEG refrigerator/freezer, Bosch dishwasher and Miele washing machine. The entry hall is quite unique and fully glazed. The house has Tasmanian timbers throughout and the floor to ceiling windows allow sun and light to keep you cosy.

The main bedroom is a queen and the other two bedrooms have double beds. 2 of the 3 bedrooms have stunning views - the 3rd room has a courtyard view. All have wall heaters and electric blankets and the bathroom offers a separate bath and shower.

The adjacent loo (if you care) has a Celery Top timber feature wall and skylight. Alleluia to the throne room I say! The carport is adjacent to the front entry - drive right in to ground level accommodation and relax, feast your eyes on the beautiful sunrises, big skies and the night time vista.

NOTE: Bookings are based on a couple or two people with one room. A $40 per room linen fee applies for the use of a second or third bedroom if a couple prefers to sleep separately, or if two or three singles are booked.

A portable cot and a double air mattress and bedding is available on request - $40 one off fee.

Guest access
You will enjoy full privacy of this fully functional, easy to access home. Drive right to the door and enjoy undercover parking. You get to enjoy the whole house on street level and with a world class view.

Other things to note
There are 3 bedrooms and 3 beds comprising 1 queen and two double beds.

The beds are super comfy and all bed linen, towels, shower and bath soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided. The main bedroom has a raised Skybed for your viewing pleasure. It is raised so you can enjoy fabulous skies and river views, day and night from your bed.

Location

Mount Nelson, Tasmania, Australia

This is a peaceful neighbourhood in a bush setting. That's not to say you can't entertain and have fun. We just ask (for the neighbours sake), that it's not all night.

The bird life is wonderful and includes rosella's, parrots, blue wrens, wattle birds, black and white cockatoo's, kookaburra's and the rare white gos hawk. Wallabies and rabbits roam freely on Mount Nelson - best time is dusk and dawn.

There is an extensive network of bush walking tracks on Mount Nelson - some close by and several more are accessible from the Mount Nelson Signal Station lookout (8 mins drive). There is a restaurant/cafe at the Signal Station lookout - the views are stunning. Bicentennial Park is a huge nature reserve and contains remnant native bush land that supports a variety of native plant communities and provides habitat for endangered species such as the swift parrot.

Natural beauty is on your doorstep and only 10 minutes from the city centre.

The Mount Nelson Store is 15 minutes walk uphill, but it is not steep. A beautiful walk or ride the bus. The York Store is also 15 minutes walk down the hill and both stores stock great food, local wine, beer and bake house breads.

An active and easygoing person, I lived and worked in Melbourne for 20 years and travelled extensively. I now enjoy life in Hobart and everything it has to offer: Clean air, great food and festivals, wine and local entertainment PLUS loads of natural beauty. As my guest, you will have as much privacy as you like and everything you need including help with local knowledge, getting around, best eateries, music, theatre and arts venues as well as 'what's on' in Hobart. If you like no contact at all, that is what you shall have. I look forward to making your stay as comfortable as possible. And if you have nothing to do, sit on the balcony and enjoy the river action - ships, yachts and ferries as well as beautiful sunrises, big skies and moons and an abundance of bird life in your bush setting. And if you don't want to venture outside.....you can see all from your Skybed.
