This review requires a response due to the unrealistic exaggeration of the guest's claims. I will do that 'by number' as she has outlined above. Before I do that, I will make note of my prominent house rules called "Tropical Kitchen Rules" . When a guest books our place they've agreed to those rules in writing and they are also posted in the unit in plain sight. It states that no food should be stored or consumed anywhere in the house except for the dining room, bar area, and kitchen. These are simple and practical rules that keep insects from infesting the bedroom areas which can happen when people eat in bed and crumbs are left in the cracks and crevices of beds and couches. I made sure she understood exactly what I meant and she indicated that she did. My rules also state that the A/C units should be turned off when not in the unit and windows should be closed if it is raining. These are also practical and simple to understand to comply with, and I let people know that I will close the windows if I notice they have departed and it starts raining.... This is to protect their belongings as the wind commonly blows the rain in through the large windows if it's gusting. This guest family did exactly the opposite of what I asked them to do and I went in to close the windows on their behalf and found open food in non-permitted areas. I moved the food back to the kitchen and secured the packages closed on their behalf and shut the windows. The following day they left the property with the main room windows wide open all the way around with rain on the forecast, and the A/C unit on in the bedrooms. I can ascertain these things from outside the unit and I simply closed the windows and turned off the A/C units since I had no idea how long they would be gone and I had warned them I would do so.
So, now by number I will address each notation.
1. I do not have bed bugs in the unit, we have traps set by professionals and are checked with every guest stay. This guest must have incurred mosquito bites. This is a very bold accusation and she said nothing to me at all about this at the time. It is simply not true.
2. I am not a creepy host... this guest was disgruntled and has a chip on her shoulder. Take a look at all 146 previous reviews and you will ascertain for yourself how creepy I seem. Most people know that sometimes you just have people in life that are not going to be happy no matter what and this one didn't want me to tell her how to conduct herself in my house. Living in a tropical region has it's quirks and my main goal is to present a bug free home to incoming guest families.
3. The A/C unit isn't silent but it's new and it's not any noisier than any other window unit on the market. Her claims are exaggerated. If she had been nicer at the get-go I would have shown her the setting that is really rather quiet. She had it on 'auto' and is quite a bit more quiet on 'cool' I usually point that out to guests during check-in, but she was in a hurry and didn't want to listen to anything I had to say in the initial meeting.
In conclusion, I hope that inquiring guest families will ascertain for themselves that this review is certainly to be questioned with scrutiny.
