Jan and Elena are terrific hosts. When the television didn't work, we had a new one the next day. When the washing machine didn't work, less than two days later a new one was installed. They are quick to respond and extremely helpful with getting acclimated to Berlin. Some oth…

Elena's husband was right there waiting for us when we got in, even though we were a bit later than we expected to be. He helped with our bags up the stairs and showed us around the apartment, which was really just perfect, clean and cozy, and had everything we needed. Heikel …

Elena was helpful and welcoming and good at communicating. She was able to meet at that flat to give keys to us earlier than expected which was really appreciated. The flat is in a block of others and is very quiet indeed. No road noises even though just outside the front of th…

Flat was ok First be prepared to climb four steep flights of stairs, so if you have a lot of luggage, be prepared for a little workout! The apartment itself was cute. Very small and quaint. There is a little market pretty much out the front door twice a week, so if you're stay co…

Response from Jan&Elena:
I refrained from writing a review because it would not have been the best, and in these cases I prefer not to write one. But in this case I definitely have to answer: First: my husband helped carry the incredibly heavy bags upstairs. Second: Izabella and her husband were very friendly until the moment the City Tax had to be collected. People able to read my description of the apartment on this platfom would have noticed that this tax has to be paid. No hidden costs from our side as airbnb can't include the City Tax in their price. Every other Airbnb host in Berlin not collecting this Tax does it illegaly. First Izabella and her friend said they did not have ANY cash on them. When they understood that it would not be a problem for me to go to the next ATM they were able to pay it! Miracle! Third: The apt is in one of the most buzzling neighnourhood of the city and is 8min away from Alexanderplatz via metro, the station is right around the corner. The location is everything else but limiting. The canal is right in front of the house, innummerable restaurants, shops, cafés and much more at close by walking distance. Nobody forced them to book this lovely apt instead of an unpersonal hotel on Potsdamer Platz for the same price. Fourth: I agreed to host Izabella and family (little baby included) because I thought it might probably be more difficult for them to find an airbnb home with a baby. Apparently I was right, as they left the place in such a disorder I still barely can't believe it! The baby is of course not responsible. But its parents. I discovered a real naked bone (dog toy) ON THE TABLE! And another leather bone on the floor even though pets are not allowed in the apartment. They also left a half eaten water melon in a plastic bag next to the cook top, unaware of the fact that the bag had holes and the melon water was seeping into the cook top. NICE! Empty beer bottles laying around were not missing btw. I had also the pleasure to discover baby diapers next to the trash (not in it, and why were they not able to throw them in the trash bins downstairs when leaving???) All in all a very frustrating experience!!!! Some people really behave weardly to say the least and then even complain. Please take the time to read the other reviews. Thank you!
