A private 400 sq ft Studio apartment with 12 ft high Ceilings in a beautiful old brownstone house overlooking a courtyard with a mix Asian and French interior decor, it is a true taste of NYC; only a couple of blocks to Columbia University. Great Neighborhood and a fabulous block, lots of new stores and restaurants. Hardwood floors, private bathroom. laundry room in Building. A,B, C, D trains (A,D Express ) one stop to mid-town Columbus Circle Central Park, two stops to Time Square

The space
Your own private studio. We set this up to accommodate friends and family as well as entertaining. This is a perfect getaway for two, or a business traveler that wants a more personal experience than a hotel. There is a refrigerator and microwave for convenience as this is our entertainment area for the house, there is a stove in this room but we do not have pots and pans and do not want any cooking here. (too many trendy eateries around here for that). You can use it to heat water but other than that no cooking.
For the bed, I know you see a pull out sofa bed but wait until you try it. It is a Queen Plus size tempurpedic memory foam mattress, and the couch is unbelievably comfortable to top it off. We supply clean sheets and towels plus two bed pillows. Your private bathroom contains a Shower, no tub. We own and occupy the house so you will know people in the neighborhood already. This is part of our house but you will have your privacy and come come and go as you like. It's located in a great old brownstone that was built in 1909. we spent a lot of time keeping the original charm in the building while upgrading to the current standards. If you have not experienced today's Harlem you are missing out on something special. Mostly everyone in the neighborhood is friendly and moved here for the revitalization. There is a small store on the corner for drinks, sandwiches and quick items you may need. Two blocks to a great food market called the "Best Yet Market". They are a full service grocery store with prepared foods as well. Also, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Wine stores, dry cleaners, Local bakeries, and tons of great restaurants including Michelin recommended, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, French, Continental restaurants and etc are all in the immediate area and all less than four blocks walk.
Sorry about the cleaning fee but we have the house cleaned by a professional service after every guest to make sure everything is up to par. Every guest always has a thoroughly cleaned room; This includes sheets, linens, bathroom etc. So you know you are coming to a clean and ready place. The fee is one time, not per night. If you are planning on an extended stay longer than a week just ask and we will work out something so you have clean sheets and towels. If you are planning on and extended stay there is laundry in the basement of the house, just ask us.
Important Note; if you are staying more than seven days there may be additional cleaning charges based on the stay and your needs. Please discuss this with me in advance of booking.

Other things to note
We are an international couple and love to travel. We have traveled all over the world and brought back multicultural memories back to our home, you will definitely taste the multicultural experience during your staying. We have friends and family come to visit and stay with us, so we set up this room to welcome our guests and give them their privacy (and ours). We joined Airbnb was because we love the culture of it, we also like to share our passion for travel and the multicultural experience with our guests. There is a notebook on the desk for you to write down your thoughts of your stay, please leave a note for us and future guests. Harlem, New York

Harlem - Columbia University, this is the heart of the Gentrification/Revitalization of Harlem. Everything you know of Harlem is right around the corner. The Apollo, Columbia University, Magic Johnson Theater, Cotton Club, Grants Tomb, National Jazz Museum, the famous Red Rooster restaurant which is one of the favorite restaurants of Obama, the chef Marcus Samuelson has been invited to White House to make the national Gala dinner many times, and the list goes on.
To make it even better, the area is bursting at the seams with new restaurants, markets, coffee shops, wine stores etc, most of them are in walking distance. The area is very safe to walk around.
You can walk to Columbia where you will find a bustling campus and more places to eat and check out. That is also where you find the "Seinfeld Diner" and yes, it is open so you can go in and check it out. We are also a couple of blocks away from the famous historic the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine.
