A two bed apartment located in the picture-postcard community of Capileira, one of the highest villages in Spain. Facing south you can enjoy the unspeakable beauty of the landscape.

The space

Apartamento Mirador is a two bed apartment located in the picture-postcard community of Capileira, one of the highest villages in Spain. Facing south you can enjoy the unspeakable beauty of the landscape with goats grazing early in the morning to eagles soaring as the sun sets on the cordillera. The Alpujarra is amazing. Even as shadows lengthen, one by one the village houses flicker into existence until finally all those present answer the twinkling roll-call and the mountainside reflects the starry sky. In keeping with the national park status of the area the apartment, although recently built, maintains a traditional exterior. And if you can drag yourself away from the terrace vistas you'll find yourself in a modern home, well equipped for comfortable living through the diverse seasons which make these Spanish mountains such a special place to stay. The views from the balcony are stunning.

Gorgeous place situated in the mountains with breathtaking views from the deck. Easy to walk into town and many hikes in the area from this spot. Make sure you brush up on your Spanish! Kitchen is well equipped and the wood stove was great for warmth and ambience.

Great apartment with a stunning view. Perfect if you are looking to hike in the area- we were there for 4 days and did a hike straight from the front door on each of them. Was great not to have to use the car! 2 mins walk from lots of restaurants and a great bakery & chocolate/icecream parlour. Apartment has everything you need to cook at home too, and there isn't a better view in town than the one from the balcony! Pool was an added treat, though it is only open a few hours a day, and was usually full of very rowdy kids.

This town is a great respite from the heat of Granada. Great location to do mountain walks or to visit one of the many bars and restaurants in town. The apartment was clean and the hosts very accommodating. The only issue we had was with the swimming pool - we had envisaged being able to lie around by the pool only to find it is closed on Mondays and then only open on certain hours during the day and also that there is no pool furniture to sit on - just the concrete. However the view from the pool and the apartment are to die for - it is easy to spend your afternoon just gazing down the valley

This is a nice quaint airbnb with a wonderful view of the mountains. It's location is good for the local town, it's possible to walk to the supermarket and there are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The apartment is hot during the day and although there are ceiling fans in the main area the bedrooms don't have any. You can strategically open the front door and rear patio door at certain times and get a nice through flow to cool the place. At night you can leave the windows open provided you have earplugs. There are several dogs nearby which start howling almost by some kind of schedule around 10pm to midnight ! Although a pool is available during the summer months it is only open 12-15 &16-18 and during those times you will find it packed with children practising their dive bombing, not really safe. One tip, if there isn't anyone to meet you on arrival , park up the top , don't drive down to the gate unless you want to practise reversing up a very steep slope into the main road.

'Fantastic view' is an understatement - the view from Daniel's and Noelia's veranda is the view of a lifetime, changing by the hour throughout the day and into the night, and surely also throughout the seasons, although a week is a bit short to judge that. It's accompanied by the sound of the bells of goats herds - and almost nothing else! Although on the map Capileira is 'round the corner' from Granada, it's a different world. In Granada you look at the Sierra Nevada, in Capileira you're right in it. The temperatures are almost 10 degrees down from those in Granada - a relief when they hit 44C in Granada! The village is exceptionally beautiful, not too touristy, but several lovely restaurants to choose from, Daniel's and Noelia's list being very helpful. It's also the gateway to one of Spain's most spectacular national parks and its highest peaks. Hikes of any lengths and difficulty, rides into the wilderness, climbing Spain's highest mountain - it all starts in Capileira. Again plenty of helpful advice in the apartment. And yes, we did have the obligatory snowball fight in July! The flat itself is very well equipped, exceptionally clean and a joy to live in. Communal pool also most appreciated! Thank you Daniel and Noelia, Christian, Marina and Raphael
