Take a break in beautiful Dartmouth! Stay at The Loft Room (double ensuite bedroom on room only basis) located on a hill with stunning views of the river & glimpses of the sea beyond. Only a short walk into town with great pubs & restaurants.

Free on-street parking a 10 min walk away.

The space
Stay in our beautiful loft conversion with stunning views of the river and glimpses of the sea beyond. It comes with an en-suite shower room offering wireless wi-fi access, Sky TV (sorry no Movie channels), DVD player, hairdryer, an iron board center, a fan, luxurious towels, tea & coffee making facility and a small fridge. We will ensure that you have a starter pack of tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

Please be aware that The Loft Room does have some restricted headroom areas due to the nature of it being a loft conversion in the roof space. This restricted headroom extends to the Shower room where you may need to 'mind your head' to access use of the toilet.

We are only a 5 minute stroll to all the great shops, coffee shops, bars and restaurants in town.

With so many lovely places to have breakfast in town, The Loft Room is let on a room only basis. You have a choice of places to pop to for a wonderful cooked breakfast which includes the award winning Alfresco's.

Please note that our 'room only' charge is based on a maximum of 2 people sharing. We do not allow any additional guests.

Guest access
Dartmouth is a small, very old but beautiful town that wasn't really designed for lots of cars; with narrow lanes built on steep slopes offering the very best views of the river. We do not offer parking on site but the best possible FREE parking and the closest to The Loft Room is on the Castle Road leading to Dartmouth Castle (which is a short 10 to 15 minute stroll away).

Parking restrictions in Dartmouth are lifted between from 1st Oct and 30 April each year and you are then able to park on various roads to include South Town and Newcomen Road as well as along the North and South Embankments in town. Please always refer to all road signs displayed and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps for how to get there.

Please be aware that the road leading to The Loft Room is uphill and narrow (to be clear and to give you an idea, small vans and trucks are able to negotiate these lanes). If you have lots of luggage, you may choose to drive up to the gate and unload before parking your car on the Castle Road. We will leave you a map on the bed with directions to the Castle Road.

Alternatively, and if you are travelling light or are slightly nervous about the narrow lanes, please park up first and then make your way to The Loft Room but please be prepared for the short but steep climb.

Please also be aware that the Castle Road has no street lighting so if you are arriving late and are planning to park there, then please bring a torch to help light your way back to The Loft Room.

Wherever you chose to park, please note that it will always be a short 10 to 15 minute walk back and there will be a small section of road which is rather steep.

The Loft room is accessed through a gate and across a small bridge leading to the front door. You will have a front door key and room key for access at any time day or night. Instructions on how to access keys will be explained on a confirmed booking.

Other things to note
Please be reminded that we have no parking on site. The road leading to The Loft Room is uphill and narrow. If you have lots of luggage, you may choose to drive up to the gate and unload before parking your car just slightly out of town (on the Castle Road which is a short 10 to 15 minute walk away). Alternatively, and if you are travelling light, park up first and then make your way to The Loft Room but please be prepared for a short but steep climb.

PETS: Just in case you suffer from allergies, please note that we have a very well behaved dog who resides with us in the lower part of the house. We do not, however, allow any pets in The Loft Room.

Location

Dartmouth, Devon, United Kingdom

Dartmouth, the jewel of the South Hams, sits on the estuary of the river and is a wonderful place to visit for at least a weekend or, if you can, for longer. It's a magical place with historic narrow lanes and numerous stone stairways which take you up & down various narrow lanes giving you a different perspective of town.

Visit the Dartmouth Museum or look out for The Butterwalk dating from around 1635. Explore winding Elizabethan streets with independent shops, art galleries and a bustling market. Enjoy gourmet restaurants, bistros, bars and cosy cafes.

It's also a great base with easy access to Agatha Christie's Greenway National Trust House, travel back in time to the Jazz Age at the country home of the D'Oyly Carte family at Coleton Fishacre or take various boat trips either to the wonderful town of Totnes or a short Steam train ride to Paignton.

Sail, fish, explore by boat. Walk the stunning South West Coast Path, mooch around the quayside and River Dart estuary or laze on unspoilt beaches nearby. Go crabbing, sailing and coastal wildlife exploring or let the river ferries and steam train take the strain.

With vibrant festivals running all year round, there is always a reason to visit Dartmouth. Immerse yourself in England’s heritage at Dartmouth Castle or the Britannia Royal Naval College where the Queen met her future husband.

For romantic weekend getaways or just a short break, it’s always a good time to discover Dartmouth - South Devon’s most captivating destination in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
