Two room suite on the second floor of a 1907 frame house with high ceilings, windows on two sides. Furnished with a full bed as well as futon sofas, table, and chairs. Guests are welcome to share events and facilities at the Center for Human Science.

The space
… With its attractive living room with two big windows, adjoining bedroom/study, and large bathroom/closet, the only thing you don’t have for a long term stay is a private kitchen. However, a fully equipped communal kitchen is just downstairs.
… In front of you as you enter the room is another door which leads to a large en suite bathroom with shower. A second door leads to a comfortable and spacious, light and airy living room with a decorative fireplace.
... Through the living room, is the private bedroom/dressing room and study rolled into one. With a comfortable, full-sized bed with nightstand and lamp, a dresser, a big desk and chair, and a full-length mirror, you have everything else a home needs for a short or long-term stay.
… An added benefit to West Suite are the amenities on the first floor. Besides a fully-equipped kitchen at the end of the hallway and a communal bathroom with tub that includes a washer/dryer, there is a separate computer station and printer. All of these--the kitchen, the bathroom, and the computer station--are shared by the guests staying in 223 McCauley.
…The front porch, which overlooks the street, is a wonderful place to sit, read, study, write or just relax with friends.
… The entrance is separately keyed with its own combination lock. When your booking is confirmed, you will be given the codes for the locks to the house and to your room, allowing 24 hour check in and entry.
… This suite is part of the Center for Human Science, which consists of seven air-conditioned houses on its own 2-acre campus in the heart of Chapel Hill. Run by a non-profit organization chartered in 1981 to promote interdisciplinary communication in the behavioral and social sciences (it conducted the famous Nags Head oceanfront conferences for 25 years), the Center provides short- and long-term accommodations to graduate students, faculty, and members of the general public interested in understanding the world we live in. It also sponsors lectures and seminars.

... Adjacent to UNC, the oldest public university in the nation, the Center is 1/2 block from the Carolina Inn, the Global Education Center, and the School of Public Health, and 10-20 minutes from the hospital, medical schools, and main campus, including Memorial Hall, Playmakers Theater, Ackland Art Museum, Kenan Stadium, and the Dean Dome.
... Two blocks north is the heart of Franklin Street, Chapel Hill's main drag, with clothing stores, bookshops, bars, coffee shops, music venues, a movie theater, and several dozen restaurants all within a fifteen-minute walk.
... A 20-minute walk on a paved footpath along the railroad tracks takes you to downtown Carrboro and the Weaver Street Coop, with summertime Sunday brunches on the lawn with live music.
.... Located in the heart of one of the two Historic districts in Chapel Hill, the Center also provides wonderful walking opportunities through campus and around the beautiful residential areas to the north and west.
... McCauley and Vance Streets mainly consist of two-story frame houses with covered porches. With no through streets, traffic is primarily bicyclists and pedestrians, with a diverse mix of the undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and retirees who live in the neighborhood.
