Stylish luxury apartment offering comfortable space for 2 pos 4. Upper level - kitchen, dining/lounge, double bedroom ensuite. Ground floor room - double sofa bed. Ideal for exploring Epping Forest and Essex Way. Close to M11 and Stansted Airport.

The space

The Studio is located in a cart lodge within the grounds of a beautiful listed property dating circa 1642 which has been our family home for 35 years. The space is fitted out to a high spec with a character walnut double bed and luxury en-suite with shower. The kitchen is fitted with a microwave, Siemens oven, induction hob, fridge and washing machine. The lower level room is a purpose made recording studio which we will ensure is not in use during your stay! There is a comfortable double sofa bed if required with an additional £20 charge per person if the booking is for 4 rather than 2 people. The layout of the flat would mean that guests staying in the lower level room would need to walk through the upstairs bedroom to use the ensuite. The small recording room, adjacent to this second bedroom, will be locked to guests. Wi-fi is accessed throughout the flat.

The comfortable kitchen/lounge is amply equipped if you prefer to cook in and watch a DVD or movie on Netflix and there is an additional TV in the main bedroom. There are two excellent pubs offering great food within walking distance and various restaurants and takeaways a few minutes drive away in Ongar.

Until last summer, The Studio was occupied by our musician son who recorded various musicians including his own Ska and Folk bands! Now our children have fled the nest we are missing the activity of the constant stream of guests and visitors, mostly of the creative type! We now enjoy sharing our home and welcoming guests to experience this lovely area of the countryside yet still within a relatively short driving distance of London and Stansted Airport. It is possible that we could provide a collection/drop off to the airport - please do ask when booking.

The family garden is not accessible and is separated from The Studio by a garden wall.

There is parking for one car outside the Studio and another to the front of the driveway if required. For your own personal safety, guests will not be permitted further down the driveway towards the wood store and workshop.

We love to welcome our guests to ensure that they are well informed to make the most of their stay. You will then be left to enjoy yourselves without disturbance although we are always contactable should the need arise.

Fyfield is a picturesque village with two fantastic pubs offering excellent food. Opposite the Studio is a pub well known for its wholesome, plentiful meals - takeaway if preferred! Only 500 yards away is another, offering real ales, fine cuisine and wines and also widely acclaimed for their regular 'Garret Sessions' when famous country/folk bands play to an intimate audience.

The area is popular with both walkers and cyclists and the property is located on the route of The Essex Way and the 2014 Tour de France.

Guests may chose to play golf at nearby courses or driving ranges. Clay pigeon shooting is a more unusual sport on offer in the village and there is a beautiful fishing lake within a mile.

Attractions within close proximity are:
Epping Ongar Railway
Secret Nuclear Bunker
Hylands House (hosting 'V Festival' and many family fun days)
Ashlyn's Farm
Greensted Church
Lea Valley Park and Water Sports Centre (white water/canoeing)
Olympic Park, Stratford - stadium, Velodrome, Aquatics Centre
Audley End House and Gardens
RHS Hyde Hall

There is a local based taxi company offering a 24 hour service.

The Studio is located 15 minutes from the M11 and 20 minutes from Stansted Airport.

We may be able to offer collection/drop off to the airport so please check for availability.

Driving distances/time:
Epping Underground station is 20 minutes away - 50 minutes train journey into Central London
Chelmsford/Bishop's Stortford/Brentwood/Shenfield mainline stations are 25 minutes away. There is a limited bus service to Chelmsford 3 times a day from the hours of (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).

Due to the limited bus service to and from Chelmsford, a car is recommended for those wishing to explore beyond the village.

The Studio is located in the grounds of a family home which, until the mid 1950's was a working Blacksmith and latterly a farm/farm shop. It is currently a carpentry and furniture making business. Whilst we appreciate there will be the occasional breakage, unacceptable damages will be deducted from the security deposit. We also ask that guests inform us as soon as possible, or prior to checkout, of any breakages or damage incurred during their stay.

Although our house is within the grounds, there is a separating garden wall and so you will have privacy during your stay.

This place is a cosy little haven and all we needed was food and drink. A nice little starter pack of goodies for breaky and the bedroom was spacious with great storage. There are games here for all and whilst we didn't get out we will be back to explore the recommended pubs and Smiths. The kitchen is very well equipped which was amaxing. We would love to revisit.

Teresa and the studio are both absolutely wonderful, and I would return in a heartbeat! I stayed at the studio while having to work nearby late into the night and Teresa could not have been more accommodating or thoughtful. The property is gorgeous, very well equipped and leaves you wanting for nothing at all.

Staying at Teresa's was the perfect countryside retreat, surrounded by fields and footpaths, and with not just one but two pubs on your doorstep - we made sure to visit both on our short stay! Teresa was lovely, she made sure we found our way since we were arriving late at night, and she kindly left us croissants and granola for breakfast. Will definitely be back again! Thanks Teresa

Lovely overnight stay. Teresa was very helpful helping us arrange a taxi and provided excellent directions. She was there to welcome us to a lovely apartment which was very clean, tidy and extremely comfortable. We found fresh croissants, muesli and eggs waiting for us at breakfast. What more could one ask? A delightful stay thank you Teresa.

I have been hosting for over two years and was delighted to be awarded Airbnb's 'Superhost Status' after the first year. I have really enjoyed welcoming guests from all walks of life and from so many parts of the world. I am married to John, a carpenter who designs and manufacturers bespoke furniture.

When the British climate allows, I am learning to sail and otherwise enjoy my time singing and performing with a modern choir, needlework (mainly soft furnishings), gardening and cooking. Unfortunately, 24 hours in a day is just not long enough!

John and I are both sociable and, when not working, absolutely love living in such a beautiful part of the UK and we are especially happy when spending time with our friends and family. As our two adult children work within the music/theatre field, we regularly go to the theatre and music gigs and, over the summer months, we try to go to as many as possible of the growing number of music festivals in the area. We do have a tendency to take on too many projects at once but when relaxing, we love walking and cycling.
