Here you are, in the old district of Amsterdam where the hustle and bustle of the city meets the quietness of the canals!
You are directly in Nieuwmarkt (arguably the best square in Amsterdam) and just 5 minutes walking from central station

The space

Wellcome to Amsterdam and in one of its characteristic apartments (registered in the UNESCO database as historical building to be preserved).
The apartment is on two floors, it is facing the Nieuwmarkt square and borders the Chinese district.
On the entrance floor you will find a spacious and cosy living room with a beautiful view over the Nieuwmarkt square; a well equipped kitchen and a small toilet.
On the lower level you find two big bedrooms (approximately 22/24 square metres each) one for the guests and one for me. One bedroom is facing the Nieuwmarkt square and is a bit more noisy (this is the one that I normally keep for me) and the other one is internal and so really quiet but still with windows and a lot of light. This bedroom has two spaces divided by an internal door, the second space is perfect for a kid or an extra guest and there is a fordable single bed while the main bed is a double bed 160*200 cm.
You find on this level also a bathroom only with shower and another small toilet (bathroom and toilet are shared and kept really tidy and clean).

Guest access

The whole apartment is shared and you have access and you can use whatever you see around.
The Kitchen is well equipped and you can prepare your own meal or breakfast. The espresso machine is freely available free of charge.
Living room with dinner table and sofa are there for you to relax. I have a beamer if you want to watch a movie and a DJ-console and good stereo system if you want to play some music!

Interaction with guests

Interaction witrh guests is extremely welcome, I am always ready to give advices and suggest the best spots/restaurants/cafe depending on your taste (I have already a prepared lists of recommendation that I will share at your arrival). I am also ready to give a touristic tour on my boat for a small extra charge.
But of course I respect your privacy if you are coming to Amsterdam in search of quietness.

Other things to note

I own a small and nice boat (see last photo) and I am ready to rent it out for 20 euros/hour if you have previous experience in driving a boat or I offer guided tours along the canals for 50 euros for two hours, you decide if you want the touristic route or the less known canals (the guided tours are designed on your interests: historic tour, discover of hidden canals, cosy bars..)

I have two extra bike at the guest disposal FREE of charge, so that you can experience Amsterdam as a real Amsterdammer.

It was lovely staying at Enrico's place! He's very warm and friendly, and more than willing to share more about Amsterdam's sights and good eats. He's also very helpful in turning up the heating when we managed to ask, and kind to lend us his bicycles for a ride around the city. The espresso he made and offered us was delicious too! The room we stayed in was also comfortable and spacious, and we felt at home during our stay. The best form of contact we had with Enrico was via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) though, as we tended to leave early to explore the city and couldn't catch him before we left. We had a good experience in Amsterdam overall. Thanks Enrico for being a very welcoming host! (And to his housemate too ;) Thanks!)

This was such a great location, especially if you want to be in the middle of the old town. Easy walking distance to most of the things you might like to see. As other reviewer's have mentioned, there are quite a few steep steps to climb, but Enrico was very helpful in the hauling up of the luggage :-) Lots of action and restaurants nearby, but the room was dark and quiet. We highly recommend the Captain's Place.

Enrico was so nice and accommodating! The house is in a great location, a lot of hustle and bustle surrounding to keep you entertained! A map was provided for us upon arrival that was incredibly helpful. The room was excellent and roomy and Enrico allowed us the option to keep our bags in the apartment after checkout so we could explore before our departure. We had an excellent time in Amsterdam and really enjoyed our stay!

My wife and I arrived early in the morning which was not a problem as we left our bags, had coffee and were on our way to explore! Our hosts were one of a kind and provided us with so many useful tips to plan our days as we stayed for a full 7 days! The apartment is very spacious and clean and you truly feel right at home as you have access to essentially the whole space! Every day we would share our experiences with our hosts and we learned so much from them about the history and culture of Holland! The location is one of the best! You are near De Waag which is right in the city center and a beautiful view! There is no problem with noise or anything like that at night! Everything is close by to visit on foot or by bike, which were provided to us for free to use whenever! Also, I highly recommend to rent the Captain's small wooden boat and take a canal cruise all on your own! From Amsterdam we went to the following cities: Weesp (cute town with some windmills), Muiden (castle!), Harleem (north sea), Utrecht (oldest city in Netherlands) Just hope on the train and bring your bike to explore! Overall a 5* experience and we can't wait to be back!

Enrico is a very friendly and welcoming host. We communicated up until the day we arrived and he has been very helpful with recommendations for places around Amsterdam and things to do. The room is located in a perfect location so is close to everything. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Amsterdam!

Due to an incredible mishap and frustrating error on behalf of the airlines, my wife and I had to cancel the last few days of our trip and thus, our visit to Amsterdam, and were not able to stay with Enrico. However, based on the customer service and great communication we received from Enrico, I have no problem giving a 5 star review, regardless. From the day we scheduled our stay 4 months ago, we received a variety of friendly and informative messages from Enrico and he was always quick to answer any questions I had. The customer service alone is worth the 5 star review. Wish I could say the same for Royal Dutch Airlines. Thanks and sorry again Enrico!
