Located in a quaint and quiet neighbourhood peppered with temples. We had a really nice day exploring the neighbourhood Temples. Love that it is also a skip and a hop from our favorite breakfast restaurant Chieriya. We like that the house is really near Gion, no need to take public transport. Just a short 10+ min stroll. Checkin was fairly easy as the owners were very responsive - provided there's no lag in AirBnb. The directions buttons on Airbnb app doesn't work. Upon clicking, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)Maps open up to a blank, as did AppleMaps. It seems like it's a common problem with Japanese addresses. We had to get a friend who is familiar with Japan to rewrite it so that we could search for the address manually. The room is a just enough for two persons. The walk-in wardrobe is a nice touch. But it could do with proper lighting. Because of the positioning of the bed and the door to the room, we are unable to fully open the doors to the wardrobe in order to fully utilise the space. For the info of future tenants - 2nd floor is the common area. There's 1 shower and 2 WC (1st and 2nd floor) for the household that has three rooms - which can house 7pax. There's a washing machine, no dryer. Would have been quite happy to air dry our laundry in the walkin closet but because of the awkwardly positioned wardrobe doors, we were unable to dry our laundry in our rooms. Host, Megumi, was kind enough to help us search for a coin operated laundromat a 10+mins walk from the house, between McDonald's and Fresco. For 300yen, the industrial dryer dries 14kg wet laundry in 24mins. Does the job for summer clothes. Thicker winter clothes may need to be further dried or aired in the room. We were housed on the 3rd floor which ordinarily is not a problem. But going up the extremely narrow and steep stairs with tight corners, with a 70litre/15kg luggage, was a tad challenging. Stairs are steep, not recommended for older folks. In all it was a really nice Kyoto experience.

The place is in a nice neighbourhood with many traditional Japanese houses and shrines. It is walkable to attractions like Gion and the shopping area. Although the train station is little far (esp with luggages) , there are also several buses nearby that can take you to many places.

Nice and comfortable stay. I love the strong air conditioner in the room especially during this hot summer. Location is excellence and is almost walking distance to the sightseeing place. Host contact a few times to ensure that I am able to find my own. Great hospitality!
