In the town of Hvolsvöllur there is a Supermarket, Post office, petrol station, Bus station, Highway and a Public pool that is cheap, but good. There are also museums on regional viking era history and a volcanic exhibition.
The Eyjafjallajökull area offers a great variety of natural sites, such as Þórsmörk, the new mountain peaks of Magni and Móði, Eyjafjallajökull, Katla, one of the largest central volcanoes in Iceland, covered by the glacier Mýrdalsjökull, Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Skógafoss waterfall, Sólheimajökull glacier, Dyrhólaey rock arch, Lakagígar volcanic area and endless black beaches.
It is easy to visit The Vestman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar), accessible from Landeyjahöfn harbour which is quite near Hvolsvöllur.

I am a singer and ceramic artist and I have been working in ceramic with my husband since year 2000. I have the Folk-and Country band " REMEDIA ", which sometimes in the high season plays in Eldstó Art Café, which is down the next floor in the house. We are never playing longer then 10,30 pm. My Husband is a Master potter and he has been doing pottery for many years, or sins 1972. Thor Sveinsson, that's my husband name, studied pottery from 1971 – ’75. He is very skilled at throwing the various forms and it is very inspiring to watch Thor mold the formless clay into teapots, cups, bowls and much more. You can see him work on the flat screen in Eldstó Art Café. Kind regards – G.Helga & Thor
