PLEASE ONLY SEND IN REQUESTS FOR DATES YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO BOOK - IF THE CALENDAR IS CLOSED IT MEANS THE BOAT IS NOT AVAILABLE. In true AirBnB spirit, we live on the boat ourselves and rent it out only when we are on holiday ourselves. Thanks!

The boat fits 2 people and possibly some kids (only on agreement). It has all amenities of a luxurious apartment. Facilities include:
- high speed WiFi
- large kitchen with big stove
- bath and separate shower
- central heating and floor heating (so it's nice and warm in winter)
- washing machine and dryer
- dish washer
- TV/DVD/iPOD player

We live in the boat ourselves and rent it out when we go on holiday. So it feels like being at home when you're on holiday. Don't expect a hotel. We always ensure the boat is nice and clean before guests arrive.

We're quite proud that the boat was recently elected by GlobeIn as #3 of most romantic Airbnb getaways world-wide (see photos).

The boat is also listed on Culture Trip in their top 10 Unique Airbnb rentals around the world: (see photos)

There have in fact been guests who have proposed on the boat! We've also hosted some newly weds.

Guest Access

You will have access to all amenities on the boat;
- high speed WiFi
- large kitchen with big stove
- bath and separate shower
- central heating and floor heating (so it's nice and warm in winter)
- washing machine and dryer
- dish washer
- TV/DVD/iPOD player

Interaction with Guests

The place is all yours. We generally are not present ourselves to do the check-in or check-out, as we rent out the boat when we are on holiday. However, there will always be someone to check you in and show you around the boat when you arrive and who you can call during your stay. Note that latest check-in time is 23hrs. If you expect you might be later, please check with us upfront for a solution.

The Neighbourhood

We are completely in love with our neighbourhood. The house boat lies on one of the most beautiful canals of the city, the 'Keizersgracht'. It is surrounded by historical buildings and the area is a UNESCO world heritage site. It borders the 'Jordaan' area, one of the most charismatic areas of town. An array of great, cosy restaurants and cafes are around the corner. There are also several museums nearby like the 'Anne Frank' museum. The so-called 'Nine streets' and 'Haarlemmerdijk' shopping streets are also around the corner. These shopping streets have small, peculiar shops offering a variety of unique goods, ranging from clothes to art and antique.

But our favourite past-time is actually to simply sit on the deck having a long breakfast or coffee, enjoying the view over the beautiful canals and just letting life go by.

The boat is located just around the corner of all the busy parts, so it is very quiet, especially at night.

We leave a sheet on the boat with an overview of our ten favourite places to go to and to do within 10 min walk from the boat.

Getting Around

Amsterdam central station and bus terminal is at 10 minutes walk from the boat. Supermarkets and outdoor food markets are around the corner.

There is a bike rental place close by so you can explore the other parts of the city easily.

How to get to the boat
1) Arriving by train at Amsterdam Central station: It is a short walk from the station to the boat, 10-15 minutes. Everyone knows the Keizersgracht. Alternatively you can grab a taxi at the station. The ride is less than 10 minutes. Be aware that they do not trick you in driving around. It is a very short ride so taxi drivers don't like this ride. If they do, write down their taxi number and call the taxi company. TCA is the most renown taxi company in Amsterdam.

2) Arriving by plane: After landing at Amsterdam Schiphol airport, you can either take a train to Amsterdam Central station (20 minutes, 4 euro) and walk from there/grab a cab (see above). Or you can get a taxi from the airport to the boat, which will cost about 45 euros and take 30 minutes.

3) Arriving by car: parking is extremely expensive in the area, 5 euro/hr. I recommend to park at 'Parking Centrum Oosterdok', Oosterdokstraat 150. This costs 10 euro per day. It is a 15-20 min walk from the parking lot to the boat.

Other Things to Note

We're sure you'll have a great time here, both in summer and in winter.

House Rules
No smoking
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
Check-in time is 3PM - 10PM.

We're not fond of huge rule lists. We have nearly always had great experiences with our guests. We see it as if friends stay over at our place while we're gone. Key thing is that you enjoy the place, the neighbours & citizens are happy with you we are happy when we get back.

The guidelines are:
- no pets
- no smoking inside. outside is no problem
- flush only toilet paper down the loo to protect the pump
- be good neighbours, i.e. no noise outside after 10 p.m.
- no parties or extra guests on the boat, there is enough to do in town
- be gentle with the deck; no jumping or high heels please (unfortunately this did happen once with other guests), don't stand on the glass windows
- leave the boat behind in a proper state

Also, feel free to use herbs and spices or whatever is in the fridge; see it as being home away from home.

About us:
Emma and me used to live on the house boat (one of our listings). When we were expecting a child, we moved to a 'normal' house in another great area in Amsterdam. We Airbnb this house when we go on holiday.

We love the neighbourhood, with its great restaurants, cafes and the Vondelpark just around the corner.

We love travelling and then rent out the boat while we are away. So far we have had almost only great experiences with renting out our place to AirBnB. And it's so nice to hear when people enjoyed their stay as much as we enjoy it!

Lourens works as Head of Technology for The Ocean Cleanup, the largest initiative to rid the oceans of plastic. Emma works as a psychologist and yoga teacher.

Hope to meet you soon!
