We have a lovely double room available for you in a quiet country cottage, just half a mile south of Haslemere town centre. The house is set in a secluded garden.

The space

Your room has a double futon sofa bed on the ground floor. You will have access to a bathroom with bath/shower just up the stairs.

A basic breakfast can be provided; cereal, coffee, tea etc. You will have use of our lovely private garden, which is pretty much secluded and great for relaxing and enjoying the sun!

We are located just half a mile from Haslemere. In Haslemere you will find all amenities necessary for a great stay. There are shops, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and bars. Here you can also catch the very regular train service that runs to Central London, and takes approximately an hour. Brighton can also be reached in less than two hours.

Other local attractions include Blackdown, a local beauty spot, and the highest hill in Surrey, standing at 280m, or 919 feet and providing stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Blackdown also has strong literary associations with the poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson. We are also just a 40 minute drive to Jane Austen's house, where she spent the last years of her life and did a lot of her writing.

We would recommend a car for this location - but entirely up to each guest. The town is a 12 minute walk away although there is a short, sharp hill on the way back.

When you are staying with us - we are not up to hotel standard. This is a lived in, family home. If you want a hotel, please stay in a hotel. Meanwhile, we feel our price is very competitive.

Location: Haslemere town centre is half a mile away.
Haslemere station approx. 1 mile
Lythe Hill Hotel approx. 1 mile
Goodwood approx. 20 miles (40 mins by car)

Guest access

Guests have access to their room, bathroom at top of stairs, kitchen to make tea/coffee (available in cupboard above the kettle). There is a microwave for guest use also.

Interaction with guests

We are present during your stay - if you need anything just ask, otherwise we will leave you alone.

Other things to note

We are half a mile away from the Blackdown beauty spot (half a mile up Tennysons Lane).

Had a great stay. House is nice and secluded in the country and I was made to feel very welcome. Even though it is in a fairly rural stetting, the high street is only 15 minutes walk with plenty of shops and the train station is 25 minutes away.

The setting is lovely but a bit isolated and tricky to find so you need a car to get there - be aware that you have to drive right up to the automatic metal gates and then they will open. Leonie is a very nice and helpful hostess. The room is very spacious albeit a bit dark and the bed is a sofabed. The bathroom is upstairs which you share with other tenants. The kitchen seemed good although I didn't use it.

Response from Leonie:
Our home is a family home - the bathroom is indeed shared with family (not tenants). Just thought I would correct that, thank you, L

Leonie was very welcoming and explained everything when I arrived . The room is sparsely furnished with a table and sofa bed and two old huge wardrobes . The bathroom was upstairs and was quite small for a shared bathroom . The house is in an idyllic spot for walking and exploring but you really need a car to get to anywhere .

Just to clarify, the room is clearly photographed so you can see what you get before booking. We are half a mile from Haslemere town centre, 1 mile from the train station.

It feels like you're staying on an estate with a friend and their family. Very nice.

I enjoy looking after family and other people as well as sharing experiences with others even if it's only sitting down to a good film. Keen cyclist doing 40 miles on weekends, or equally happy to go for a walk instead.
