A feeling of privacy, but close to to town with lovely views. Recently remodeled with new kitchen cabinets, new furniture, beds, linens, and towels, the apartment is a clean, comfortable retreat from which you can explore Homer and the Spit.
This is a garden level unit, but has extraordinary views of Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountain Range from the dining area, living room, and bedroom. The outdoor seating is perfect for taking it all in morning or evening.

The space

You will be uniquely situation within walking distance to town and high enough up the hill to have the views for which Homer is famous. The lawns and gardens are well cared for, and there is a vegetable garden from which we encourage our guests to harvest. In August there are raspberries growing all around the property - they make a great addition to the morning breakfast!

You have the entire apartment to yourself, including the outdoor area. The sleeping arrangement includes the queen bed in the the bedroom and the choice of a queen or single air mattress (or both) in the living room. The air mattresses and bedding for both are stored in closets in the living/dining. We have included a memory foam topper for the queen air mattress to alleviate that coolness that come off an air mattress. The single air mattress has a foam sleeping pad for the same purpose. Our goal is for your sleeping comfort!

Guest access

You are in the garden level apartment. The door is on the east side of the house - look for the blue door. The door is unlocked and the key inside. Unless you request otherwise, you will be on your own for both check-in and check-out, however, we are always just a phone call away if you need us.

Interaction with guests

You will be on your own for both check-in and check-out, but we are just a call away if you need anything or have questions. Most days we are around the property working on lawns and gardens and love to chat if the occasion arrises. Call us if you don't see us and want information.

Other things to note

Such a lovely space, with enough room to escape from the rain and plenty to do outdoors when the sun is shining (or you're feeling intrepid!)

We loved staying here. Wasn't the most baby proofed place when we arrived, but wasn't marketed as one and didn't take long to rearrange cords and move chairs to block outlawed items like the heating element. --We loved the views and the nice lawn for baby to play around on. Another great thing was how FAST Phyllis responded. Seriously it took her about 3 minutes to respond, which we really appreciated because we were spontaneously staying the night and didn't have reservations! Also, great location and very roomy.

Nice location for a weekend trip to Homer. Close to downtown and had a nice kitchen if you'd like to cook for yourself at the place. The secon bed is an air mattress which was probably the nicest one I've ever experienced. The only negative is that with three people we ran out of hot water each morning with normal use. I would recommend this place to a friend.

Response from Phyllis:
Thanks, Amanda. We really appreciate knowing there is an issue with the hot water - we will get that fixed! Also, it's nice to know the air mattress was comfortable. Hope to host you again some time.

We stayed only one night. The place was very clean and spacious. This is a basement apartment with windows above ground. The windows face the massive mountain range across the bay, quite picturesque. We did our dishes and stripped the beds like the guest manual requested.

This is space is exactly as described and looks in the pictures, and is only a 2 minute drive to town. The space has everything you need to cook and make it feel like a home away from home. You also may be greeted with animals walking around outside your window (we had a moose, birds, and squirrels) We travelled with our 14 month old and had no problem with keeping his routine in this new space. The only thing to be aware of is that you are on the bottom level so sometimes you can hear the visitors walking above you. Overall we were quite pleased and plan on booking again and recommending to our friends for their trips to Homer!
