Escape to this wooded Sierra foothills retreat on 2 private acres in the in the Amador County wine country, where your noisiest neighbors are the hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and an occasional hawk.

The space

This very special home offers abundant serenity and panoramic views in a nature-rich environment. Its open floor plan and high ceilings provide accommodations that are comfy, but never cramped. Spend hours watching several varieties of birds eat from the feeders on the deck, both from the deck itself and from inside the house. Plentiful windows and a centrally-located skylight provide lots of light and bring the outdoors in.

The kitchen is fully equipped with modern Kenmore appliances, including a portable dishwasher. A toaster, a coffee maker, and a blender are also provided. The house is at once remote and private, but also affords easy access to CA Highways 88 and 49. It's the perfect "base camp" for those seeking peace and relaxation, but with plenty of access to fun once you've recharged.

Guest access

There are no keys to misplace or lose! House access is keyless; you'll be provided an access code upon check-in.

Interaction with guests

Please take a few minutes to review the House Guide/FAQ. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to text me and I'll reply as soon as possible. My guest management team is nearby and I can engage them if your issue is something I can't help with over the phone or text.

Other things to note

- AT&T and Verizon have excellent reception at the house.
- Draperies in the bedroom have blackout liners to help ensure excellent rest
- The bed is a Queen with a very comfortable mattress topper
- 32-inch flat-screen television with ability to stream your Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and/or HBO Go accounts
- DVD player
- Wireless internet access (no cable)
- The grounds are rustic and natural
- The deck spans the length of the house, offering plenty of seating
- Hwy 88 is completely out of view, but it's also about a quarter of a mile away. As such, muffled sounds of occasional vehicles can be heard from time to time when outside. The house, itself, has dual-paned windows throughout, so the inside is silent.

Jennifer is a friendly and accommodating host! Really loved watching the sun go down on the deck outside and unwinding with a movie afterward. The full kitchen was great. Ten minute drive into Jackson was convenient and the downtown is adorable!

This was a very nice little house, VERY well kept and clean. Portable AC and fans kept the house comfortable in mid 90s temperatures. Next door neighbors are the caretakers and were SUPER - brought us a new coffee maker the day after we reported a problem (which we certainly didn't expect). Nice quiet location near Jackson (actually closer to Pine Grove) - great base for Gold Country exploration or just some quiet relaxation. Great deck with view of forested foothills (Hwy 88 traffic is audible but not visible). Jennifer had EXCELLENT communication and was very accommodating and helpful during our stay. Large and interesting collection of books!

Jennifer's place in the Sierra Foothills is a perfect place to get away. It is lovely, comfortable, has all the amenities you could want – including hundreds of books, a full spice cabinet, coffee/tea, wifi, loads of fluffy towels, and great view of the valley. Everything was clean and convenient. Sutter Creek is close by if you need restaurants or Walgreens. If you're looking to hang out on a sunny deck or curl up on a comfy couch, this is a great place to do it.

Jennifer's place is nicely secluded on a dirt road but is also convenient to lots of different attractions -- wine, Big Trees, Tahoe, etc. Follow her instructions on how to get to the house and take her advice on local hotspots -- we were not disappointed in anything we tried that she recommended. The home is adorable, clean, and has lots of conveniences in the kitchen if you're looking to cook, a nice view, and lots of birdwatching from the deck. You should know that the bathroom doesn't have a door, just a curtain between it and the bedroom, so midnight bathroom trips might disturb others. Also, the AC unit is in the foyer, so it won't cool the bed/bath. Our trip started with 100 degree days and the AC didn't cool the foyer below 80. Luckily it cooled off most nights and Jennifer has provided good fans and instructions on how to optimize the air flow, but be aware that this is necessary. Overall, it was a pleasant stay at Jennifer's house and her neighbors were friendly and helpful to ensure our stay was a good one.

We stayed at Jennifer's house with our 2 month old son. It was our first week out together with him, and the experience was awesome! The house was perfect for us, quiet, fully equiped, incredible terrace with views, nice weather and friendly neighbors. And plenty of books of all topics! Couldn't ask for more :) Jennifer was really helpful and flexible to plan the trip, thanks!

Great getaway in the sierra foothills. Great base camp for exploring Yosemite and Tahoe and everything in between. Very quiet but close to very cute and historic gold rush towns. Full kitchen and bathroom. Host is very responsive. No central air.
