Located in the hills of the Scottish Highlands, Shrek’s Swamp is a stumpy, secluded haven fit for a solitude-seeking ogre… and for the first time ever, a handful of his biggest fans, thanks to yours truly. I’m swamp-sitting while Shrek’s away this Halloween, and I’m absolutely delighted to invite you in for a fairytale stay. Oh, and never mind the “BEWARE” signs. They’re probably for decoration.
What you’ll do
Booking opens on 13 October at 6pm BST for a two-night stay for up to three guests from 27–29 October.
Nestled deep within the forests of the Scottish Highlands and accented with the cosy comforts Shrek has accumulated over the years, the swamp offers a retreat like no other. This mud-laden, moss-covered, murky-watered oasis is a perfectly snug spot to escape from village life and embrace the beauty of nature.
During your stay in this spectacularly secluded swamp-scape, you can:
– Relax in the ambiance of “earwax candlelight”
– Kick your feet up with a parfait (everybody likes a parfait!)
– Swap stories around the fire until late in the night
– Enjoy a stack of freshly made waffles in the morning
– And of course, enjoy the ultimate privacy of Shrek’s trusted outhouse (you know the one)
To honour good childhood memories that last a lifetime, Airbnb will make a one-time donation to HopScotch Children’s Charity, which provides some of Scotland’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children with respite breaks through nurturing and dynamic holiday trips.
Other things to note
Once you arrive and check in, our on-site concierge will ensure a comfortable stay for you and your pals – including showing you around and arranging meals. Please note that toilet, sink and shower facilities will be located off-site, approximately 20 metres away from Shrek’s Swamp.
Booking Rules:
– In order to request to book this stay, guests must have an active Airbnb profile, agree to the Airbnb Terms of Service and acknowledge the Airbnb Privacy Policy, and also have a good track record on the platform.
– The fellow travelling party members must be at least 5+ years of age.
– Guests must be able to provide a government-issued ID.
– Guests must enter a complete message when submitting the request to book, letting the Host know, among other things, who will be joining them.
– Guests acknowledge that Airbnb may conduct a review of public records.

Wow, it is so nice to meet you. I’m Donkey, and I’m making magic with Airbnb to roll out the welcome mat this October while I’m swamp-sitting for Shrek. I have to be honest – I love everything about the swamp: the boulder out front, the modest interiors, the seclusion (ideal for singing karaoke late into the night), you get the picture. I can’t wait for guests to experience this muddy slice of paradise for themselves.
