The space

A well appointed bright top-level, 2.5 bedroom apartment. Large windows provide picturesque neighborhood views and fill the rooms with natural light. My apartment is located in one of the few historic castellated buildings in Chicago, and features all the essential amenities you are looking for: rooms with A/C, memory foam beds, stylish living room, hardwood floors, ceiling fans, central heat, free wi-fi, coin-operated laundry facilities for your convenience and a fully stocked kitchen for those with culinary inclinations.

Guest access

There is no moat to cross at this castle! Access instructions will be provided upon booking.
Spaces are cleaned before arrival, fresh linens and towels are provided.
Please refer to my Guidebook for transportation, groceries, restaurants, entertainment, nightlife and recreation near by.
You will encounter other guests in common areas during your stay.
If driving: building's parking lot is not for guests, but there is typically a decent amount of free street parking (city permit not required). During peak hours (6PM or later) you may have to walk some blocks back home -this is very common in the city-.

Interaction with guests

The neighbourhood

Situated in the vibrant heart of Rogers Park, a safe and walkable residential neighborhood (as asserted by Chicago Tribune and Walk Score), you can enjoy the eclectic urban mix of university students, young-professionals, old hippies and new immigrants. Whether you are looking for fine dining or a casual local establishment, you will find it among the 130 restaurants that call Rogers Park home.
Returning to my apartment is an experience as the entire block consists of medieval-style castles, landmarks and historic mansions.

Located less than thirty minutes by car from O'Hare International Airport and about forty minutes from Midway, getting here is easy. Once you have arrived, you will find yourself about ten minutes from Loyola University, Northwestern University, Evanston, Little India and Andersonville. In less than half an hour you can get to Lakeview, Ravenswood, Lincoln Park, or The Loop (downtown) in only 23 minutes.
Whether you bring your own car or pick up a rental, there is typically a decent amount of free street parking (city permit not required). During peak hours (6PM or later) you may have to walk some blocks back home -this is very common in the city-. Please watch for street sweeping days and make sure you park legally to avoid tickets.

Between the bus and “L," there are great public transportation options in the area. Both the Jarvis or Howard "L" subway stations are within six to eight blocks of the castle and will have you in Downtown Chicago in about thirty minutes, or in Evanston in about ten minutes. Additionally, the buses stops just a short distance from the apartment. Options abound!
NOTE: For semi-express 30-min ride to the Loop use the Purple Line subway from Howard station to State/Lake station.

The city has a taxi/cab at every corner. Uber is available in the city at convenient rates, and you'll find the option 'Uber Pool' which is a shared ride with other riders, it's a bit slower but at very discounted rate. Lyft is also available in the city, which is the same as Uber but at lower rates. Lyft offers both single and shared rides which makes it even more convenient!

Besides the traditional car rental companies like Enterprise, National, Zipcar, etc. the city of Chicago offers the option of 'car sharing' apps like Getaround and Turo with peer-to-peer car sharing, a much more convenient option than rentals (and you are helping locals rent out their own cars).

Airbnb has been a wonderful experience! I'm truly grateful to have the opportunity to meet so many amazing and inspiring participants from all over the world. Ensuring they have an amazing time brings me great satisfaction.

I'm a Chicago-based music producer and a language teacher able to communicate in Spanish, basic Portuguese and Italian. In between working in the studio and traveling when needed, I enjoy connecting with other artists, music enthusiasts, visitors and colleagues in the city.
