Lovely, large peaceful, secluded attic room in a tall 'Victorian' end of terrace home, with a huge superking sized bed with freshly laundered cotton sheets and a down/feather duvet. This room is suitable for 2 adults (with single beds for 2 children under 14), please note it is not suitable for more than 2 adults. Visits are two nights minimum. As our home is a 'bit of a community' we welcome longer term visitors too - our 35% month/18% week discount is available for single travellers only.
The room contains a comfortable day bed to lounge on, a table and two chairs, cupboard space, tea/coffee making facilities, vanity mirror and towels. Two radiators and an extra manual eco heating panel. Bedside tables with books. Ask if you'd like to borrow an iron/board or hairdryer or hot water bottle. Lovely views over the park if you are tall.
For those who are with children under 14, the day bed can be made up into a bed, and there is a further pull out single trundle bed underneath. There is also often a travel cot available, please request when booking. Please note this room is NOT suitable for more than 2 adults or with children over 14.
The shared bathroom is one floor below, with a bath, electric shower, loo and sink. There's another loo next door to the bathroom. There are other bathrooms in the house too.
A breakfast of cereal, toast and fruit juice is included in the price (you can help yourself, I'll show you where things are). You are welcome to use the large kitchen for cooking.
We have WIFI which you are welcome to use, its unlimited and is generally good in all rooms.
The house is a large family and shared 'end of terrace Victorian' home. We have 3 cats and a dog, several children/young adults and lodgers too. There are several rooms we have for airbandb guests (a single and another superking on the floor below the attic).
Its definitely more a busy family home than an immaculate b and b, you're encouraged to make yourselves at home.. There are toys and clutter and movement. We like it and hope you will too.
Please do note that the house has a lot of stairs - 5 floors in all - and the room is in the attic at the top, the kitchen in the basement. The attic staircase is narrow and getting large suitcases up is possible but can be awkward!
Parking is often difficult out the front in the evenings, so we often suggest parking round the back of the house (accessed along an unmade track). A permit out the front is often available if necessary.
We're right in central Stroud, minutes from the bus and railway station, and all the shops and restaurants. Do check out the fabulous farmers market on a Saturday!
We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
Guests are very welcome to use the open plan kitchen in the basement for cooking and relaxing, even a game of table football..
Interaction with guests
we hope you'll make yourselves at home; join in with us as you wish in the kitchen, or keep yourselves private, it really is your call. You may meet other airbandbers too! Please let us know if you need anything or find something you don't like; we so want to make your experience a good one and would prefer to know at the time so we can improve your visit - and for future guests too.
Other things to note
Please do make yourselves at home.
We are usually a 'shoes off' household. We have felt guest slippers should you like or you might want to bring your own. If you'd prefer to keep your shoes on then that's ok too.
The attic room is suitable for 2 adults and up to 2 children under 14. Please do not book (especially instant book) if you are more than 2 adults. Thanks! Also, long term bookings are for single guests only.
Check-in is usually from 4pm, and we ask you arrive before 9.30pm as we have young kids and go to bed early - you can always collect your key and go out. If you're arriving after 8pm please could you knock on the door, and try not to use the door bell or knocker.
There are lodgers as well as the family in the house - please do not go into the door marked private on the ground floor - its a bedroom not the loo/kitchen!
David and I live in a big old Victorian house in Central Stroud, with our blended family, Angela our lodger, our three cats, dog and fish. We like to be at home, cooking, watching films, playing cards and games, hanging out with the children. We also like eating out and being outside. I love natural voice singing and go to a great community choir, I also like reading, painting, geneology and making things. David works from home and is also abroad quite a bit. My 'business' is as landlady and hosting folk to stay and I have a private psychotherapy and neurofeedback practice. We all really enjoy welcoming people into our home, enjoying the community feel of the house with visitors from all round the world.
