I have a guest cabin in Sugarloaf above Posey Ca that sleeps 10+ people. 2 rooms have King beds and the 3rd room has 4 bunk beds with doubles on bottom and singles on top plus a hide a bed downstairs. Its at 6k ft in the Sequoia National Forrest. We have a small fire pit and wood is $5 bundle. please be honest in number of guest you will have. ATV's are available for rent with an added deposit and waivers signed for guided trips. Please leave cabin as found except for linens we will wash.

The space

This was our family cabin until we purchased a bigger place across the street. It's close to places like Calif Hot Springs, trail of 100 Giants (Redwoods) White River, Tobias lookout and not to far from Kernville, Shirley Meadows Ski area, Alta Sierra, ect
The cabin has a new kitchen, new flooring and clean comfy beds, a nice deck with beautiful views of the mountains.

Guest access

You will have access to the whole cabin unless other arrangements are made prior to booking. We don't typically provide toiletries but you can request them. We do supply Towels, toilet paper, paper towels and some dishes. We don't supply charcoal for bbq'ing. We ask for cabin to be left as found with exception to the linens we will wash.
We ask that you take your trash with you as we do not have garbage service. If you can't we can do it for an extra charge. We do have fire wood for sale also if you'd like to use the fire pit in the deck. Holidays require a 3-night min stay
Internet is slow and not for streaming. Text n emails work good. We ask that you don't take chairs from inside out on the deck and be very careful if having a fire in the pit on the deck. It's very dry in the summer months

Interaction with guests

We plan on being there when guest are there (across the street at the main cabin that is) We will be available to help with anything you need but we aren't there to bug you. If we are there your welcome to sit by the fire with us or not. We ask that you treat our neighbors nice when your there. Remember there are people who live up there. Be respectful of the community!

This place is amazing, if you want to get away from life happening for a while I defiantly recommend a weekend or week here, no service for unwanted phone calls secluded enough to enjoy the quiet time and peace, Jim’s place is well laid out and well taken of, and up to date. The scenery is beautiful and a lot of places to see to get the shot of a life time, we went up for a wedding and had an amazing time just relaxing, playing games that Jim had there, and just relaxing on the porch, catching up with old friends. Yes this place is secluded and there are neighbors with in walking distance , it is a dirt road up to the place which was awesome, the only thing I do regret is not taking more time off to explore the surrounding area, I do recommend a 4x4 to take due to how secluded and how much you want to explore, my vehicle was 4x4 I just didn’t get a chance to explore more. A big thanks to Jim again for allowing us to enjoy the experience.

We feel after such a great experience at Jim’s families’ cabin that it’s our responsibility and pleasure to take the time to make sure anyone considering their place should know that they shouldn’t hesitate! The location is an obvious destination of great choice and the condition of the cabin feels very homelike but it’s really the fantastic communication and generosity of Jim himself that is so heart warming and allows one to feel like they are treated like family. Jim was a wonderful host. Prior to our stay he was very timely in his communications with us. During our stay he was very hospitable and went above and beyond for us. He even took our kids for a "joy ride" in his ranger:) The cabin is pretty secluded and off the beaten path, beautiful and senic surroundings. Perfect place for those who want to unplug. It has all the basic needs, nothing extravagent. Internet service is spotty but to be expected.

It's an amazing place away from the city. It's a lengthy drive up the mountain to reach it, but worth it.

This is a wonderful getaway with a very friendly community around. You are not totally secluded but it is definitely way out of the way of metropolitan civilization. The woods are just gorgeous with rolling fog coming through the time of year that we visited. Jim was a great host and very responsive he even had his son and friend help us unload our vehicle, which was very helpful as I have 3 little boys. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a peaceful getaway.

Jim was a nice and attentive host. We got there late at night and he met us a couple miles before arriving to the cabin/house so we wouldn't get lost. He was there if we needed anything and made sure we felt comfortable. My family and I would definitely go back for another getaway.

I am a father of 5 (4 girls and a son) and helped build this cabin when I was in Jr High with my family. My dad lost the cabin and passed away at 50 and I was able to buy it a year later. We have put a ton of work into it and want our guest to treat it respectfully and enjoy it.
We bought another Cabin across the street in 2003 and spend a ton of time there. We love the mountains! We hope you enjoy them too!
