PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO "THE NEIGHBOURHOOD" TO READ ALL ABOUT THIS STUNNING PART OF TUSCANY AND ALL IT HAS TO OFFER FOR LOVERS OF ART & CULTURE, NATURE AND SPAS.

The Agriturismo was once an ancient farmhouse. It sits on a hill overlooking a natural terrace and surrounded by a diverse Sienese landscape. It is reached by a charming gravel road, amid rolling hills that change colour with the changing seasons. Along the road you may come across hares, pheasants, roe deer, porcupines and wild boars.

The style of the farmhouse is typically Tuscan, with pieces of furniture carefully selected in different antique markets and shops, complemented by ethnic furnishings that lend colour and warmth to the atmosphere. It has also become the setting of many iron sculptures, created by the manager using recycled iron.

On your arrival at the Holiday Farm, you will find a splendid natural garden with cypresses, palm trees and succulent plants, and a beautiful gazebo that is perfect for reading, relaxing, drinking a glass of good wine and chatting with the other guests on clear and warm summer nights. There is also a swimming pool to have fun, and poolside sun beds for those who love lounging with a good book.

The holiday farm is family managed and the young owners Mario and Serena. Serena is ready in the morning with her rich breakfast of homemade jams, biscuits and cakes, not to mention the tasty local cheeses and cold cuts. Dinner is served on request and we strongly recommend that you take up this opportunity, as everything is cooked right on the spot, using only fresh local ingredients.

During their stay, some guests wake up early to watch the sunrise, others like to venture out for a jog, a walk or a bike ride... some like snapping pictures or painting. Others prefer lazing by the pool or waiting for the sun to set - we have memorable sunsets!!

Finally, for our more dynamic guests, we organise horseback excursions through fields, valleys and castles... an experience not to be missed! During the outing we are likely to come across pheasants and roe deer, and we can even stop for a break. We will spread a pretty tablecloth on a beautiful wheat field and have a nice picnic together.

Children can ride our horses on our farm

The farmhouse is also an excellent base for excursions to places of extraordinary cultural interests (medieval towns, churches, vineyards……) or for excursions to several natural thermal springs, or a trip to the sea.

Location

Buonconvento, Toscana, Italy

The farmhouse is excellent base for excursions to places of extraordinary cultural interests (medieval towns, churches, vineyards……) or for excursions to several natural thermal springs, or a trip to the sea.

For Wine Lovers: This region boasts numerous DOC wines, like Brunello, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Chianti Colli Senesi, Montecucco, etc… Many wine estates open up their cellars for guided visits and wine tasting. Guided tours can be booked at the Holiday Farm.

For Lovers of Art & Culture:

We are just outside Buonconvento, one of the most beautiful Italian villages - with it's fourteenth-century town walls and Sacred Art and Sharecropping museums. A short drive away, is the Etruscan village of Murlo, with a fascinating local museum.

North of the Holiday Farm there is Siena, famous for its Palio horserace held on 2nd July and 16th August, not to mention the Cathedral, the Piazza del Campo that is renowned worldwide and the many alleys that run across the town.

Going south we find Montalcino, renowned for its Brunello wine, Pienza, the hometown of Pope Pius II, and Bagno Vignoni, a medieval village famous for its hot springs that date back to the Roman era. We also recommend visiting the extraordinarily beautiful abbeys located in the area, like Sant’Antimo, Monte Oliveto Maggiore, and San Galgano and the chapel of Montesiepi with its sword in the rock. The artistic territory further expands southwards, with San Quirico d’Orcia and Montepulciano, and northwards, with Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, Volterra and so much more.

For Nature Lovers: there are many roads and paths that can be travelled on foot, by bike or on horseback. Buonconvento can be reached from the Holiday Farm through the dirt road of the Piana area, also identified as part of the “Eroica” cycling race route for bike lovers, or through another dirt road heading towards Murlo. We also suggest the road connecting Murlo to La Befa and identified as the “vecchia ferrovia”, that is the route of the “old railroad” that served the Murlo coal pits. Lunch at the “Da Brunello” inn, serving tasty local dishes, is a wonderful way to top off any excursion.
The possibilities are endless, also owing to the numerous, stunning horse riding trails across fields, valleys and castles… it all makes you feel as if you are on a film set!

In Buonconvento:

Things of the past over the Easter holidays with antiques market.

Threshing under the town walls in late July, a historical re-enactment demonstrating how threshing was done in the 1930s and 40s, with people wearing clothing of the period, and the machinery and farm tools in use at the time.

Sagra della Val d’Arbia in late September, a festival with dinners in the village districts, music, shows, market stalls, etc.
The farmhouse is excellent base for excursions to places of extraordinary cultural interests (medieval towns, churches, vineyards……) or for excursions to several natural thermal springs, or a trip to the sea…
