Wategos Surf Shack is the ultimate retro Surf House. It is newly renovated overlooking the beautiful Wategos Beach. It has 7 bedrooms and and a huge kitchen and outdoor entertaining area. It is ideal for families and groups of friends.

The space

Wategos Beach Byron Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is commonly known as where the rich and famous stay whilst holidaying in Byron Bay. It is also home to some of the best waves and surf breaks in Byron Bay. If you surf Wategos Beach and Wategos Surf Shack is where you want to be at!

Located on the most Easterly Point of Australia, Wategos Surf Shack offers affordable accommodation right on the beach and just under the light house. The shack contains six bedrooms which can be leased as a whole house or as individual rooms. The house boast a beautiful outdoor entertaining area and large kitchen with all modern conveniences.

Sit up on the top floor balcony and take in the sunshine and stunning views or even spot some dolphins or even whales at the right time of year. Have a game of cards or watch a movie in the lounge.

The house has a white wash beach shack feel and has just been renovated in November 2015. Located just 1.5km from Byron Bay Town Centre and 1.4km walking track to the cape Byron Light House. It is also walking distance to other well know surf spots Clarkes, The Pass and Tallows Beach.

Guest access

Please be aware there is no parking available. There is only on street parking. The house has a very steep driveway. Management and the property owner take no responsibility for damages that may occur whilst using the driveway.

Interaction with guests

We will email you the check in details prior to check in. As we are located in a residential area we have strict rules when it comes to noise and parties.
For the comfort and enjoyment of neighbouring properties we ask that you keep noise to a minimum at all times.
There is to be no noise after 10pm. This includes but is not limited to music, yelling, swearing, and loud talking. This must be adhered to and carries strict penalties if not complied with. We suggest that you move inside after 10pm.
Visitors are permitted at the property however are not to exceed 6 persons between 8am and 10pm.
If you are making excessive noise after 10pm and before 8am security will be called.
All neighbouring properties have the details of local security so you will not be able to avoid penalties if you break the rules.
Warnings from security will incur penalties and you will face eviction.
1st warning will incur a $250 fine.
2nd Warning will incur a $500 fine
3rd Warning you will be evicted from the property.

*Definition of noise: If others can hear your music, TV or voices outside the house after 10pm.

Security Bond
A security bond of $1000 is charged to your nominated credit card prior to arrival. The security bond will be charged if
the beach house is not left in the condition it is in on check in. The security bond will also be charged should house rules
be broken and or an eviction of your group takes place.
Rubbish is to be removed and placed in garbage bins located in the car park. Pick up all cigarette butts, can tops
from the house, decks and gardens
All furniture is to be placed back in its original position
The kitchen is to be left as it was found with all dishes, cutlery ect cleaned and put away
The BBQ is to be cleaned
Any damages, breakages or missing items must be reported to management
Any excess cleaning, carpet cleaning, rubbish removal or painting due to smoke residue is required this will be deducted
from your security bond.

Management reserve the right to evict tenants who are in breach of house rules.

Location right on the money. Amazing view and exactly what we needed for a family of 12. Enough room for everyone, with views of Wategos, 30sec walk to the beach. So so good, would stay again in a heart beat.

An absolute amazing spot. 12 boys on a golf trip for 2 nights. Amazing view to enjoy an evening beer and BBQ. Only a short trip to town to enjoy the night life. Will definitely be back!!

It is a perfect location. It takes 3 minutes to walk to the beach and 1 minute away from the Lighthouse trail head. It takes about 8 minutes to drive to downtown. The only downside is the steep slope for the parking. We drove 2 vans there and it was impossible to park there and back out. A nightmare for the elderly to get in the house. There was no wardrobes and clothes hangers/ hooks around in the bedrooms or in the bathrooms. A well equipped house.

Awesome weekend with a group of girls. The photos don't do the house justice. The view is insane, the rooms are clean and perfect for big groups, heaps of space to lounge around and just a few minutes walk to the beach. Would definitely recommend to big groups. The only thing was the lights tripped a couple of times so couldn't have the outside light on for too long. But we managed! Thanks for sharing your house with us!
