You’ll have the cottage to yourself.
We met on Saba in 2003 and bought our dream cottage in 2015. We still have many plans for improvements on Pete's Cottage which have not been fulfilled, but it is a friendly, warm place where you can watch Saban life unfold on the Unspoiled Queen!

The space
Pete's Cottage is a traditional wooden cottage, which was well maintained, lovingly preserved through its many years , and boasts some beautiful original architectural details.
It has two bedrooms, a walk-in closet, a living room, dining room, one bathroom and a kitchen. As it is build in the quirky Saban style it is hard to take some spacious looking pictures. However our general feedback is that it is bigger than expected. There is enough space to separate yourself and have some private time or spend with your company together. However do not expect a mansion because it still is a cute little cottage. We have recently imported our furniture and collectables from all over the world and it now has an internationally eclectic feel to it. We still have some projects to tackle, where we hope to restore the historic features of the kitchen with its stone chimney and enlarge the bathroom. So keep an eye on this space! Never the less everything is clean and perfectly functional.
It is located in the heart of Windwardside, a convenient (meaning 2 minutes) and easy (meaning flat!) walk to most of Saba's restaurants, supermarkets, and dive centers. It has a gorgeous view of Mount Scenery, and while you are in Pete's Cottage you will be part of the Saban life. You can sit outside and be private or immerse yourself in the day to day happenings in our little street. A friendly greeting to passers by often turns into a laugh, a chat and maybe a discussion about rain and cisterns ( maybe even a Carib or two) with the locals.

Most people come to the island for the world class diving (Saba National Marine Park) or the incredibly diverse hiking such as Mount Scenery (the volcano and Elfin forest), the Sulphur mines or Island trails through the forests and along the deep valleys. There is very limited shopping and no beach culture. Which is why Saba is so unspoiled. Saba is a 13 square km volcano and it is breath taking!

If you are interested, a dive package ( 2 dives per day, all transfer costs and accommodation in Pete's Cottage ) is available through Sea Saba Advanced Dive Centre. Prices available on request and are based on a 7 nights stay and 5 days of diving ( 2 dives a day) ( Price is based on double occupancy )

Please let us know if you are interested in this option.

Guest access
You have use of the entire house: 2 bedrooms ( 1 with queen size bed and 1 with single bed ), 1 bathroom, living room ( with a daybed ), dining room, and kitchen with stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and all the cooking utensils you will need to make your own meals. There is outdoor seating to enjoy a coffee or an after-dive drink. Towels and sheets are provided. The shed is closed and is not available for use.

Other things to note
Saba has no natural water source other than the rain. Sabans love to boast about the size of their cisterns, but the end result is that they are the best water conservationists around. Pete's Cottage has one of the most original historic cisterns and water catchments on the island and the slab of cement is highly functional and precious for this reason it needs to stay clean. We hope that you will also understand the need to preserve this precious resource of water and use sparingly!
To encourage that we only have a small hot water tank and it will allow you two hot conservative showers which is the Saban thing to do. Just to keep your expectations real...if you want long hot showers another Island with natural water sources would be a better choice for you.
Another thing to realise is that this is a traditional wooden Saban Cottage, it is NOT luxurious, it has NO TV (we like to listen to the frogs, have a beer in the garden with friends or read a book, and not have our lovely small cottage polluted by a TV) There is NO ocean view! (unless you look out of the bathroom window ) You are in a little one way street in the middle of real life. This is a real Island that lives, moves and works their normal lives during your stay. You will be amongst the real Sabans. Please note this so your expectations are real and you will not be disappointed.

We are Debbie and Terri. We met on Saba in 2003. Terri was a scuba diving instructor on the Island and Debbie came for a holiday (Terri was NOT her instructor!) It was Caribbean carnival where we met and we ended up dancing all night. It was love at first sight with each other AND with Saba, and we married on the same day we met in 2007. In 2015 we bought our little cottage on the Island, Pete's Cottage, something we dreamed about doing for years. We are both teaching in Venezuela at the moment working our way back to Saba. We both love traveling to new places we haven't experienced before and prefer to be in the midst of that new experience. We do like our bed and environment to be clean and bug free. We will look for that in places where we stay and make sure that that is the same for Pete's Cottage. Sometimes we like luxury and sometimes we are happy with very basic accommodation. We do not believe that people are restricted by the country that they live in but everybody is a citizen of the world which we all share.
