Very nice log cabin for rent. Cabin of approximately 53m2. The cabin lies in this beautiful vally in Øksfjord called Vassdalen. its surrounded by high mountains with many possibilities, in the summer there are many hiking trails of different difficulty and length. You can also fish in the freshwater about 80m from the cabin. In the winter you can start straight from the cabin to climb to high and wild mountains with lots of snow and extreme skiing, or you can walk in a light trail nearby.
Very nice log cabin for rent, in the natural area. Cabin of about 53m2 which is idyllically situated in the beautiful Vassdalen in Øksfjord, Loppa Municipality, Finnmark between the high mountains and with fishing lakes 80 meters away, there are also opportunities for fishing in the sea which is only 800m in from the cabin. There is also the opportunity for hunting and hiking in the nearby mountains. The area has many hiking trails of varying difficulty and length. In the winter there are very good opportunities for top tours in untouched and challenging terrain. Here are opportunities for those who just want to take a regular ski trip on the mountain, and there are also countless opportunities for the most daring skiers. Light / ski trail is right by the cottage about 100m from, but the trail does not annoy cabin peace. The cabin can accommodate 6 people. The cabin has 2 bedrooms with a total of 1 bunk bed 75x200 and 2 bunk beds 90x200. The cabin contains a cozy living room and kitchen as well as a dining table with seating for 6. There is also a sofa group with great views of the water below. The cabin also contains a refrigerator a simple living room stove with two hobs and a small stove, microwave, and a wood stove w / two hotplates. The cabin has electricity, but no water, this must either be taken in canisters or thawing snow. Cabin toilet inside. It is walking distance to the city center with a shop, gas station and eatery / pub.
Quiet neighborhood It is about 4-500 meters to the nearest neighbor, so here you will live undisturbed.
  • Kai is a wonderful host with a cosy cabin on a great location. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen is better equiped than expected. We were with four persons and had an excellent time!

  • Not often one finds an accomodation where everything is perfect. Kai‘s cabin is such. There is everything you need, placed in an incredible landscape. Kai is very helpful, friendly and makes you feel safe. If you travel the north, this is a place to go!

  • Lovely cabin in the heart of nature. You can go to the mountains for a hike or to the lake straight from the door. Amazing place to relax. The beds were super comfortable. Kai is helpufull with everything a guest might need with plenty of tips for adventures.:)

  • Everything was exactly as shown in the pictures, and extremely neat and tidy. Kai greated us personally, showed us everything and was very helpful. Communication was always quick and easy, it was good to know that we could have reached Kai "24/7" if needed. Øksford is beautifully located, and the area offers great hiking opportunities - some of them right from the doorstep. Kai gave us good tips of where to go - we just have to come back to follow all of them!

The cottage is a separate building (about 30 m2) - placed about 10 meters from our house. It is well insulated and furnished with everything needed. Two bedrooms: a double bed in one room, and a slightly narrow bunk bed on the other (mattress dimensions on bunk bed: 75x200 cm). For longer stays, it’s better suited for two people, but we allow up to 4 people. We can arrange for baby / toddler with cradle, baby bath and other equipment. This must be agreed in advance.
Experience nature right outside the front door with a short distance to both mountains and sea. Hunting and fishing opportunities. Beautiful hiking opportunities in the summer/fall. Snowmobile track from the front door! wildlife: It’s among others: sea eagle, golden eagle, falcon, wolverine, lynx, moose, fox, reindeer (summer months) and hare
Rural setting with scattered buildings. Short distance to beautiful »Røykfossen» (a waterfall) and «Navitdalen» which is a landscape protection area. In the autumn/winter time the northern lights are seen in the sky and in the summer we have the midnight sun. About 9 km from E6 and about 300 km to Tromsø, and 130 km to Alta. Little/no public transport
  • Really nice place and amazing experience

Nuvsvåg in Loppa is a popular place for the summit on skis and other outdoor activities, fishing and hiking. Here are the highest mountains in Finnmark where Loppatind is highest. Here are also excellent opportunities to experience the stunning northern lights. Nuvsvåg has grocery store. The nearest airport is in Alta.
  • We had an awesome stay at Jarl Hugo's house. Well appointed kitchen, large spaces to move around, warm and comfortable, extremely clean, and quiet. We also loved Nuvsvag and the quaint little supermarket. It was exciting to take the ferry, which was easy, on time and added to the charm of the experience. Great views, we were surrounded by beauty in every direction.

    Steve2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Super holiday in Jarl Hugo House, we spend one week in the house. It was wonderfull. The house is clean, and all the equipment is working. Good place to spend time in front of the Fjord. If you love nature and Norway, it' s the place to be !

    Janody2019-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • beautiful house very Norwegian... we loved that. very quiet. spacious. and Nuvsvåg is beautiful ... Olso on the winter storm. Jarl Hugo is always available for any problem. thanks and we'll be back!

  • This house is perfect for a nice and peacefull stay in finnmark. You will find everything you need in the house, old fashion but great. Jarl Hugo is a perfect host, he answer and solved problem very quickly. We loved our stay and highly recommanded it. Thanks again for everything.

    Yves2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • A first and nice experience with Airbnb. Jarl was a fantastic host. The place is superb, and wild to the extreme, at least in January. Misinformed about the boat timetable, it was Jarl who gave me the information by phone. more, he offered me, in front of the usefulness to stay extra night. It was not necessary, but rather delicate. As for Nuvsvag, the place is sumptuous. Maybe the end of the world is there. Only one wish, to come back to it. Takk !

    Bertrand2019-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great house. Great host. He answered all our questions. Feel like home. The house had everything you need. Very nice around. Beautiful view on an interesting island. My husband and I were pleased. Thank you very much for the opportunity to live in such a house.

    Алена2019-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy house close to the sea, surrounded by beautiful scenery with high mountains with glaciers all around. Nuvsvåg is remote and quiet, so ideal for relaxing and with hardly any light pollution great for seeing northern lights. The kitchen is fully equipped, everything is clean and cozy. We could have stayed there like forever. Jarl is very helpful and answers quickly.

    Christian2018-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jarl Hugo's place is a beautiful little white house by the beach. words and photos simply don't do this location justice. Jarl Hugo has been incredibly helpful, responding quickly to all our questions. we have really enjoyed our time at his place. this only somewhat down side is that you need to catch a ferry from oksfjord to tverrfjord, and this ferry doesnt run frequently. otherwise we highly recommend staying here!

  • With high expectations in our minds, we - a group of 4 friends - travelled to Nuvsvåg. The host, Knut, welcomed us at the ferry. From the beginning he was (and still is😇) a helpful, encouraged and funny person. Even for the smallest problem, Knut offered his help and was available anytime. Knut had a lot of good recommendations and tips for all kinds of activities! We did all of them and had the time of our lifes. The house itself is typical Scandinavian. There was plenty of space, everything was clean and in a good condition. There are absolutely no negative remarks. Our experience was much more and better than we hoped it would be. The house and the small town are stunning and worth a visit all year long. We hope to visit Knut and Nuvsåg again at some time in our future.

The house is from 2004, situated 25 meters from the sea, with a beautiful view from the terrace. It's modern equipped with dishwasher, microwave, freezer and all the kitchen equipment you will need, floor heating in the bathroom, laundry room and entrance area. The bedrooms are quite spacious with good quality beds. During spring, summer and autumn a boat for 4 people, with an outboard engine, is available for rent. Perfectly situated for day trips around the area :)
Three bedrooms are available, one on the ground floor and two are up-stairs, accessible via a narrow staircase. The house has a hall, kitchen, living room, one bathroom and a laundry room. A vacuum cleaner and cleaning gear is available, however there is a cleaning fee due to washing of bed-linen, towels and general check of the facilities, to make sure everything is OK for the next guests.
The area is perfect for hiking, (Mountain)skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, fishing and hunting for the Northern lights in the winter-season. In the summer season, you also have the Midnight sun. At the house you are near the nature, and may see Fox, Weasel, Ducks, Eagles and Porpoises (apart from the ever present Seagulls) During summertime, sami people are in the area and there will be possibilities to see reindeer. Glacier hiking to Øksfjordjøkelen, Jøkelfjord: Approx 30 km (drive towards Burfjord (E6) and follow the signs, you will need a guide) In Langfjordbotn, there are possibilities to see Huskies and get a sled-ride, stay in a Lavvo with a campfire etc. They provide you with the warm clothing you need. See www.vidda-runners.com In Alta you can see the ancient rock carvings, and during wintertime the spectacular ice-hotel. There is also the Alta Museum, the famous Alta river (Salmon fishing) and Alta canyon, which is the largest in northern Europe (the second largest in Europe). It can be explored by boat, on foot or by bike. On the way to the house from Alta, you pass Kåfjord, where you can visit the WWII Tirpitz museum. From Øksfjord you can take the ferry or boat to the beautiful islands off the coast; Sørøya and Loppa (Lopphavet). • If you are looking for a place to be close to nature, surrounded by a beautiful landscape, enjoying silence and tranquility, this is the place to be. Our expectations were surpassed concerning the location; it is stunningly beautiful. The house offers everything you need, and even in January, we could have it comfortably warm. Vetli was very helpful and quick to respond to all our questions. It is not very far from the parking space to the house, but it can be a little adventurous without snow shoes; as we went in the snow almost waist deep at some steps and did not get the direction right in our first try. However it was fun to build a little path from the car to the house. We saw Northern lights in the first evening and sometimes later; but it sometimes also was cloudy. Wifi was very reliable and fast. For us, it was exactly the kind of stay we were looking for, close to nature in silence - only very few people are in this area - and we would definitely come back again! Highly recommended.

    Dore2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place was extremely beautiful, the view was so gorgeous. We went during winter and it was a new adventure for us being from California. The weather was beautiful and we truly enjoyed our stay. Our host had great communication with us and was very accommodating.

    Gabriella2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 10 days in this house and felt at home from the start. Great facilities, wonderful views, loving design. Access from the parking lot to the house was very difficult without snowshoes, sometimes we sank into the snow with our luggage up to the rear.

    Stephanie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best AirBNB in the I've ever been. We could watch the Northern Lights from 5 nights to 4 nights. The apartment is well equipped and has everything you need.

    Sarina2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Vetli's place is as described and does not disappoint. Our time there was an absolute pleasure and we could not have chosen a better home and location. Like previous reviewers have already stated, the place is equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay. The view over the fjord to the glacier is fantastic. Access to shopping is adequate and I suggest Burford as the Coop is better stocked than the one in Oksfjord and there are other shops there too. A tip, if you like a wine (perfect for the nights here) or spirits, you will need to get them in Alta before you come. Finally, the fjord and glacier provide a perfect location to view the Aurora Borealis. No need to be anywhere else. We have never had a bad Airbnb, but this was the best!

    Denny2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and cozy place to relax. Easy to find, going to visit again next year.

    Oscar2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic view from a fantastic home. A wonderful getaway. Kitchen well equipped with all sorts of appliances which is essential for this home away from shops and cafes. 4G phone reception good. Lovely and warm home. Vetli responds quickly and the place was really clean. We saw porpoises in the fjord right in front of the house. Sparrowhawk on the hand rail and reindeer everywhere. Buy your food in Alta before you travel - shops in Burfjord and Oksfjord limited. Escape and slow down, retreat and relax this is a very special place.

    Rob2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the cabin is amazing (mountains and big glacier), couldn't imagine a better place to enjoy a glass of wine after a hiking trip. One morning there were a few reindeers in the back yard :) The cabin is beautiful and has a warm and cozy feeling. Communication with Vetli was smooth and everything went extremely well with him. You can't park your car right in front of the cabin, you'll have to walk the last 100 metres, but that was totally fine with us. We would absolutely recommend this place! :)

  • The house and the surroundings are very nice. The location in the middle of nature we really liked. There were reindeer and foxes visiting and in the water there were sometimes small whales. We were here with our kids. They had a lot to play outside and inside. There is also a big trampoline. The area offered us many nice hiking possibilities. We also visited Alta by car and Hammerfest by speedboat from Øksfjord.

Nauti rauhasta ja luonnon. Täällä on hienoin standardin tilat lähellä merta ja vuoria.
Stille og rolig plass nært sjøen, 500 m fra trafikkert vei. Bygget er egentlig gårdens gamle fjøs som er ombygd til leilighet. Øveretasjen er fortsatt en ordinær gammeldags "låve".

  • Trygve Trygve’s place - especially in wintertime - seems to be at the end of the world : perfectly located at a small peninsula with direct access to the fjord and only a stonethrow away from dozens of hiking, ski and MTB trails. The perfect hideaway for a relaxing and zen escape amidst a beautiful scenery. The terrace of the house overlooks the shore and through every window nature is just aside. Trygve has plenty of ideas and (wildlife)stories to turn your holiday into a truly unbelievable experience.

  • It is hard to find a better host than Tryggve. We enjoyed our second trip to Tryggve’s place and will most certainly be coming back again.

  • Comfortable and tidy accommodation where two weeks stayed too fast. Friendly and helpful reception. Tryggve speaks good Finnish. The guitar, piano and bunk were nice, says posterity. The only need for salt for cod is well served at home by the tips of Tryggve. You can also try sailfish and sea irons from the tide on the other side of the peninsula.

  • Really nice place to stay and Tryggve is very kind. We really enjoyed our stay !

    Alexis2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is really super nice and it was absolutely clean, the host lives in the next house and was very friendly. For those who seek absolute solitude a super nice spot, the scenery is awesome. At least in the winter, however, the environment was very extinct, good for hiking and ice fishing, other outdoor activities or material rental difficult or impossible to organize.

    Sarah2019-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice cozy house and very friendly landlord. The landlord gave us some good tips for the area and was very helpful. There was everything you needed in the house, fireplace included. A special highlight for me was the beautiful bathroom with underfloor heating. I felt very well and like to come back again. Very recommendable.

Welcome to Noraførr Ranch. Noraførr its a norwegian word for "northernmost".
Our old ranch is a charming house on a place in the middle of the arctic nature. Got a private small lake and a small river that passes by right next to the house. The house is from 1950's, and its over 2 floors and a basement. We have rebuilded some parts of the house, and made our own look inside. The livingroom and the kitchen is at the mainfloor. The kitchen is old, but good. Right next to the kitchen, its a big dinnertable. We made our own dinnertable from local wood, and you can enjoy dinner with up to 10 persons. We have a older bathroom with wc/shower at the main floor. In the second floor there are 3 bedrooms. The electric system in the house, is under upgrading, but it shouldnt make any bigger problems. Further infomation will come after booking. The basement is private, and is under rebuilding. Its possible to dry clothes there (depends on the rebuilding situation), but please get info on the building situation there, before your stay. Its old barn at the property, and some small houses. In the summer, you can the see the local reindeers walking by, and maybe some ducks and grouse by the lake. Parking right outside the house. Place for several cars, or big vehicles. Our guests must clean the house before check out. Vacumclean, wash the floor/bathroom etc. Clean the dishes and leave the house in the same shape you arrived. The bedlinen/sheets must be taked off and layed on the floor on each room. Towels can be leaved on the floor on the bathroom. In the summer time, theres some contruction/digging work in the area around the house.
Its a very quite and calm place. No neighboors. Only thing that you can see, is some cars go by from time to time.
  • Clean, comfortable, well off the beaten track. Perfect for a group of up to six (we were six). For us it was an ideal spot to break a long journey. Great value for money. Host was fast to answer all queries.

Fantastisk turterreng både sommer og vinter. Unike topptur muligheter fra huset. Gode jakt og fiskemuligheter både på fjellet og i sjøen
  • Great place with nice views over the fjords. Very clean and quiet with lots of wildlife around (saw dolphins, sea eagle, reindeer). Marianne was very helpful and great at providing local tips

    Olivier2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Good place face to the fjord with the Dolphins, otters, Fish Eagles, reindeers....Magical Good base camp for skitouring in Finnmark !

  • Our stay at Stein's place, "Aspen", was exceptional. The location is great for skiing and the view across the fjord soporific. The house is well arranged and stocked for multiple guests. We loved coming home to the cozy house and atmosphere of a traditional Norwegian home. I recommend Stein's place to everyone unconditionally. Tusen takk, Anne and Russell

  • House still somewhat of a work in progress (no wi-fi) but hospitality, space and location unbeatable.

    Richard2018-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and host kind and helpful. The only note is the bathroom (with shower) located in the basement, since the house dates back to the 50s

    Simona2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very old. Still very clean and functional. It does not lack detail. With enough reforms that make certain areas are new. We had a misunderstanding to think that the house included sheets and Stein arranged it nicely

WHAT: the Lavvu Arctic Camp, a lively experience in a lively community in the region of Finnmark, in Norway, 400 km north of the Arctic Circle. HOW: The camp. Three small Lavvu, made with organic cotton, heated by high efficiency stoves, reindeer skins and a big one for cooking and socializing around a bonfire. Local food from the local farmers and herders, fish, zero waste, composting toilets and a polar greenhouse to produce our own vegetables. And a wooden cabin for a healthy breakfast.
The Lavvu Arctic Camp is located in a beautiful pine and birch forest. You can reach the camp walking 50 mt. Three tents, the Lavvu, the tipi like Sami tent used in the Arctic for more than 8000 years, 3 meter diameter and 260 cm high, will wellcome you. Inside the tent you will find a wood burning stove, two bed made like the old Sami tradition, birch branches under reindeer skins, and Fjällräven-26 sleeping bags. We provide also the liners. They are the best bedding for this weather keeping you warm even at -20 Celsius degrees. You can make your tea with the included stove boiler. In the hytte, the wooden cabin, we will share a super healthy breakfast with local wild salmon, or local organic cheese and milk and eggs, locally baked bread, and more. In the bigger Lavvu tent, 4 mt diameter, we will socialize in the evening, waiting for the Northern Lights. You can relax in the sauna and hot shower room. The water will be made by you, melting snow on the stove. Then a jump in the snow will cool your body. In the warm and relax room you will take your time to recover from an incredible free ride run, sea to summit, or sleddogging, or just skiing or snowshoeing in the woods. A composting toilet, not heated, but with a view, will make you test your comfort zone. Normally, funny to say, it is one of the most enjoyed experiences at the LAC!
Magic Forrests, many birds, eagles, Arctic foxes, elks, reindeers in the plateau, and the fjords.. salmons, orcas, whales..difficult to describe with words.. and a lots of wonderful huskies. These are our neighbors! Also we have one of the biggest glaciers in Norway. It is a winter paradise. So wild and beautiful. The last real wilderness of Europe. Langfjordbotn is a little sparse community with nice people coming from all over the world. About 70 persons, and 200 dogs. To say nothing about the thousands reindeers, difficult to see in winter because their are high in the Finnmarksvidda plateau. Around the Camp just trees, but 15 minutes easily skiing down or walking, to the fjord we have a wonderful family run Cafe and restaurant, serving only local and organic food, selected and prepared with love by Randi Karlstrøm, the soul and hearth of the local community, where you can meet locals and nice persons from all around the planet . Not to be missed! And then Parken, a wonderful farm where we get our organic super cheese, milk and eggs, with the famous Parkengårdhusky Husky Kennel, run by Arne Karlstrøm and Marianne Skjøthaug, and family the most famous mushers family in Scandinavia.
  • We had a fantastic stay with Giacomo and Sandro. The camp and tents were comfortable and an unforgettable experience. Would highly recommend a stay here to have an authentic experience in the snow!

  • Luvva Artic Bar is without a doubt one of the best experiences, you have to live this at least once in your life Giacomo will always help you and you will have an unforgettable experience :)

  • a unique experience... We gave up going to Cape North and used the saved gasoline budget to stay 2nights at Giacomo. It was an excellent decision ... the setting is incredible, magical possible, we are alone in the world with the snowy landscape ... Sleeping in laavu is a unique experience. Do not be afraid of the cold, with the stove and the duvets it's perfect. The sauna allows to relax in the Norwegian and to shower. And Giacomo's cabin is a real cocoon for chatting and eating. Giacomo himself is worth the reservation, because of his kindness, his philosophy and his experience of life that he will share. Inspiring ... He will advise you for snowshoeing and freeride tours because he knows the region very well. The snow was amazing! For sled dogs, restaurant ... it will put you in touch with the local community, only beautiful people close to nature ... I can continue for a long time ... Thank you Giacomo for this moment of unforgettable life! Jeremy and Virginie.

The charming house is our family house, most rooms are renovated. It is in monthly use by us for weekend trips. Furniture is from the 80-90s. Reasons to go: nature, fishing, hunting, northern lights and silence. Ideally located on a small hill, viewing the fisherman village, the ocean and all the fishing boats coming in with their catch. The kitchen is FULLY EQUIPPED with all you need to cook and clean. The living room has a panorama view over the ocean, TV many channels & WIFI.
The house is on the ground floor level, easy accessible 50 meters from the road, 50 meters from the ocean, surrounded by mountains. The cabin is fully equipped for long stays, as the host family use it regularily for weekends and during summer vacation. Feel free to use tools and equipment you find to aid your stay. We do have light fishing gear to rent out. If you want to fish for big cod, halibut or catfish, then you can rent boat and professional gear in the village from the many operators renting out boats and gear.
2 km to the shop, 500 meters to the tractor road that can be tracked across Sørøya, the 4th largest island of Norway, surrounded by wild nature, with fishing lakes and hunting grounds on both sides. Also there are relics and caves from the 2nd World War. The biggest Cave housed 123 People during the war, Winter time. Several caves are located near by to visit and explore. The Arctic island has a Rich Wild life, and eagles, whales, dolphins are amongst regular sights to be seen.
  • Fantastic views to wake up to! The house contained everything we needed and some more. Plenty of space and comfortable atmosphere.

  • We had a wonderful time in Langfjordbotn and can only recommend a stay. The house is very cozy, with everything you need and we had readings on the fire or sweat in the sauna with a view of the snowy mountains and the starry sky (thanks again to Hanjo for cheering). At the campfire we could admire the polar lights. From the living room you can watch the beautiful huskies and even drop by for a petting. During the day we wandered through the lonely snowy landscape or did a little sled dog tour with Ben and Hanjo. Ben was a very helpful and nice host who was always approachable, it felt more like visiting friends. Thank you for the wonderful time.

Experience a vacation beyond your imagination in a traditional log cabin on a rustic farm in arctic Northern Norway. Go fishing, hiking or bird watching and finish off with a trip to the sauna, on this isolated island on the edge of the Barents sea.
The log cabin is available for rent all through the summer. The dark season from December to February has a terrific bluish light, despite the fact that there no sun whatsoever. Flashing Northern lights are almost guaranteed. March to April is a time for change, spring comes early on the island and the birds of passage follow. May to July is the time for picking eggs, enjoying the midnight sun and eating fresh fish from the sea – which you catch yourself. August to September is the time for berry picking and hunting for gees and ptarmigan. November is not to be recommended, rain and strong winds make life rather miserable. Skaga is a place for solitude, reflection and overwhelming nature.
Spildra is the biggest island in Kvænangen, the northernmost fiord in Troms. The island has been inhabited for around 8.000 years, for the last 2.000 years by Sami people. Up to the 16-1700th century people lived by hunting and fishing and moved around in the fiord according to the seasons. Wild reindeer, seal and whales where important prey beside the very rich fish resources in the fiord. 400 years ago people became sedentary, started farming and selling dried fish to the European market. Since then, fishing combined with farming has been the main way of living both at Spildra as in the rest of Northern Norway. Today, Spildra is one of the very few places where this ancient way of life still is to be found. The island is situated in the middle of the fiord on 70 degrees north and has around 50 inhabitants. Before World War II people lived scattered all around the island, but today all reside in the village of Dunvik. Here is a school with 7-8 pupils, a fish delivery station, food shop, accomodation, post office and a good pier. Around 7-8 fishing boats lie in the harbour and in the wintertime it is possible to come along to collect the pray. On the neighbouring island is the old county church, a beautiful wooden structure from 1850. The island is no longer inhabited, but a sermon is held in the third sunday in July. A lot of people arrive and it is altogether a very special occasion. CLIMATE: Summertime at Spildra can have over 20 degrees C – but nothing is guaranteed! Winter is relatively mild, the sea does not freeze because of the Gulfstream and there is hardly more than a few minus degrees. The ground is covered with snow from December to end of April. The sun shines all night and day from the middle of May to the middle of July. Within a short distance is the smaller fiord Jøkelfiord, where a large glacier is to be found (41 square km). It is the only glacier in Europe which calves directly into the sea. The glacier also tells us about the ongoing climate change. Here the global warming is a matter of fact to be seen as the very tip of the glacier withdraws from year to year. Ice climbing and hikes to the top of the glacier can be arranged.

  • It was certainly a particular experience, unlike any other experience so far. Living even if for a very short time without the help of modern comforts makes you think .. probably there is a need for a step back from everyone, and I think that making people understand it is Giacomo's goal, beyond the good experience in these fantastic places.

    Daniel2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredibly idyllic location, unusual and eye opening experience! We went over Christmas and Giacomo organised dogsledding for us, which was the most magical experience. Don’t think about it, just book it!!

    Katie2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was 3 of us and we spent 15 days at Lavvu Arctic Camp. We are grateful to Giacomo to spent his time to help us discover Finnmark region, local communities and traditions. We felt like true locals, almost experiencing the daily life as locals do. Moreover he suggested skialp tours, nice places to visit by car or walking, and even he invited us to meet local people, activities and friends. Living in the camp is the right way to understand local way of life and how to respect nature. Even if there isn't electricity and running water any host can understand how to use natural resources without any discomfort. Staying in the tent heated by a stove, sleeping on reindeer skins in giacomo's high quality sleeping bags could be better than any modern bedroom.

    Luca2019-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing two days of our life, totally didn’t expected so magical place! Giacomo is a perfect guider, helped us to book some extra local activities, and his simple but so tasty breakfast was amazing! If you looking for a place to connect with nature and go deeper in your own soul definitely try! Tent was perfect prepared, as a clue my girlfriend was sleeping in a tent during winter season her firs time but high quality sleeping bags, well working stove inside and sauna just before night gave her a perfect sleep! Highly recommend⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Marcin2019-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the camp. Giacomo is a very caring host, who has provided us with great tips and organized for us a trip with sled dogs. That was also a wonderful experience. Thanks also to Randi for the excellent, regional dinner. We drove from Tromsoe to the camp. The roads are very good with incredible views. Therefore, allow enough time for stops and photos! And there are very few open restaurants on the route. Although each gas station sells sandwiches but otherwise there is not much. There are many supermarkets along the way. The first village with good restaurants was Sørkjosen. Here there is right at the entrance to the port and above the supermarket, a good coffee with good kitchen from 9:30 o'clock open until 22 o'clock open. Approximately 5 km further on, the town becomes bigger and there are also other restaurants.

    Manuela2019-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was with great trepidation that we spent the night at Giacomo's house to finally be sad to leave it! Everything is great at home! His camp is just amazing "back to basics" with as host a great gentleman :) awesome book without hesitation!

    Julien2019-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience with Giacomo. He is really kind and helpful with everything. It was a pleasure to have some talks and discover more about the local way of life. Giacomo organized dogsleding for us and also prepared a sauna for us in the camp. This camp is really peacefull and beautiful, surrounded by trees and mountains. Giacomo offered hot beverges and a warm place to stay before going inside the Lavuu. The tent was warm inside with the fire and we slept really well. The sleeping bags are really good quality and there is also reindeer skin behind so it's not cold at all. The next morning Giacomo prepared a delicious breakfast. I totally recommend this place, we will come back !
