  • You cannot beat this view. Neat traditional stone house, gracious and accommodating host, and the outdoor area / view is unbelievable. The village is easy to get to by foot or car. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. That taverna in the village is fantastic.

  • If you want complete and utter silence and privacy with a beautiful view then this place is for you! The entire place is just absolutely adorable and a real gem! The location is great, just a ten minute walk from the local village where there is a rooftop taverna with the BEST food! Its also not too far a drive if you’re wanting to explore some of Heraklion’s history, and if you are willing to drive a little further then you can also easily visit any of the other beautiful places that Crete has to offer. This place is extremely romantic, my boyfriend and I honestly had the best stay, we will definitely be returning and we can not recommend this beautiful home highly enough! It was relaxation bliss! Giannis was also so helpful throughout our stay.

  • Lovely home and location. Pool was a bit chilly but we enjoyed it anyway! Only suggestion is to have more bath towels. There were only 4 towels, and for a home with a pool we thought there needed to be more. Great communication from the hosts and they even picked us up from the airport and fed us dinner!

    Beth2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The view is amazing. The pool was larger than expected, but the water in it was cold (at least in September). Wonderful secluded courtyard. The house has everything except a microwave, but in general it is not needed, there is a gas stove. The village itself is very cozy. Cafe, minimarket, taverns, bakery, pastry shop, everything is there.

  • The accommodation has and really liked. Everything was clean and the terrace and the pool are just amazing! I will never forget the view of the mountains. The village center is within walking distance and the people are super nice. The tavern nearby is top! We paid about 30 € for two and were totally fed (and sitt;)). Giannis and George are great hosts, respond immediately to requests, give tips and are very patient. Thanks again to you. We would book again

  • The house is very clean, the pool is nice but we find it a bit chilly even in mid August ! The view is amazing, a good location to enjoy the serenity and tranquility yet not far from the main city Heraklion. You need a car to get around and overall it's a good experience!

    Kulan2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Giannis’s place is the best Airbnb accommodation we’ve ever had! Giannis is really great, hospitable and kind. The house is much better than what we thought when we saw the pictures and read the description. It’s in the ending of a peaceful village and close to Heraklion, Knossos and many other worthwhile sightseeing places. The amenities are more than you can make use of! Full fridge and many other stuff are already there for you! The outside area is very relaxing with the small pool and all the necessary equipment surrounding it. It should be great for a short winter break too! We’ll sure revisit!!! Thanks for everything, Giannis!

  • No matter what all critics are saying.. trust me there is no critic that can describe how marvelous this place is. The house is isolated from the main village at the end of a hill. The view from the yard is breathtaking!! The only sounds you hear all day long is from crickets. We spent most of the day in the pool swimming and gazing the view. The house is fully equipped from fruits to basic commodities (like milk, oatmeal, rice, pasta etc) and if you need anything extra you will find it at a small market close to the village square 7min walk from the house. Yannis was a great host, always stand by for anything we needed. We were lucky enough during our stay to run into the annual village festival with traditional music, food and drinks. This place is fully recommended if you want to clean your mind and your soul.

    Agios Mironas, Crete Region, Greece

Stone-wood house of historical value (renovated in 2015) that stands from the Ottoman rule period. Unique mountain location with unlimited view, within Agios Miron. The stonehouse is located 20 min from the island's capital, Heraklion within the most renowned wine producing region of Crete. Its ideal location suits every traveller that wishes to explore both the north and the south part of the island. After all, PhiloXenia is the ancient Greek concept of hospitality, generosity & courtesy.
Counting more than a century, this house dates back to the Ottoman rule in Crete. After its renovation, its ready to welcome any guest that wish to explore and seek the true Cretan lifestyle. Bright, cool, airy, spacious and eco-friendly stonehouse of 90 sq.m. on the centre of the village of Agios Myronas (a suburb of the island's capital Heraklion). It is suitable for couples, families and groups. The stonehouse provides: - Large Living room with 2 big sofas and a fireplace which is suitable for winter. - A wooden staircase leading to the bedroom in the first floor. -The bedroom in the first floor consists of 2 single comfortable beds and also 1 air conditioner. The window in the bedroom has unlimited view of the mountains. There is also a door that leads you to an open space to enjoy more of that view. Charmed by the view you must not forget that you stand in the 2nd floor. - Kitchen (fully equiped with oven, fridge, table and also fireplace which was used in the past for cooking). - One modern bathroom - A big yard of approximately 40 m2 where you can enjoy your coffee, a romantic dinner or spend a calm afternoon enjoying the view (It also helps you join the second bedroom). The courtyard is often used as a playground for children by our guests. We recommend that they will be under surveillance. - The second bedroom is outside the main house next to the yard (It includes one big double bed, suitable for couples). - One storage room which is renovated, stands from 1870. Barbecue, grill, tables, chairs, lumber for the fireplace, extra beds are stored there. It is noticeable that this old room is equiped with plenty of tools and objects that date back to the Ottoman rule.
  • The house is amazing, we had a great time !!! The hosts were lovely, warm people, absolutely helpful in whatever we requested. The places were very nice and comfortable, generally making our vacation unique. Would definitely go again !!!

  • We stayed there 5 days out of our 2-week Crete trip, and this place is a definite must :) Agios Myronas is the most beautiful village we've seen in the whole island. We recommend spending a few hours exploring its ancient narrow streets, steep winding alleys and historical stone houses. The location is convenient for visiting the central part of Crete, quite near Heraklion, but situated on a hill among olive fields, with stunning mountain views. The Philoxenia house is old, beautiful, and classy (old stylish furniture) - but also very well equipped (e.g. drinks, sweets etc) and convenient to live in (actually we enjoyed the sheer being there). Also, there is the nicest local restaurant Ethimiko - with lovely local food for good prices :) Our host was helpful and comunicative and in general, we absolutely recommend this place!

  • Charming place with magnificent views. 20 minutes from Heraklion and + - 45 minutes from Phaistos. Village very quiet and not touristy. Hosts very attentive and available.

    Elise2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautifully decorated and has all the amenities you may need. We enjoyed our breakfasts in the backyard with the view to the mountains. The location is so peacefull and quiet.... perfect for some days of relax. A perfect choice to enjoy your holidays.

  • We were greeted by Pantelis and his mother, who had prepared a welcome basket and invited us to join them at a Cretan party. They were keen to introduce us to Cretan hospitality and food and we had a great evening. The house is ideally located to visit the north coast, but also the south coast thanks to the new road. The village is very quiet. A beautiful experience that we recommend.

    Aline2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted with snacks and drinks and incredible hospitality at our arrival. The village is nice and traditional, a quiet ambience. The apartment is kept tidy and is equipped with everything you might need during your stay. You get value for the low price, so I 100% recommend it and would choose it again!

  • Beautiful cottage in the hinterland of Heraklion about 20 minutes away by car. It is located in a nice village with grocery stores, an oven and a bar where you can find everything a step away from home without having to take the car. The house is perfectly restored and in my opinion it is perfect for two or three people in single beds. There is the possibility of using a queen-size bed in the separate room that can be reached via the external courtyard. But the small room is very small and there is no closet, so you have to somehow organize yourself with those who remain at home even for the bathroom. Furthermore, the small room does not have air conditioning and is an under-roof where it is very hot in summer. However the owner is very kind and allows you to arrange the beds in the house to your liking so in some way he organizes us (we stayed in 5). It was truly a beautiful experience. Super recommended.

    Gabriele2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were very positively surprised how the hosts greeted us with help, food and wine. The place itself is pretty much out of the normal routes for tourists so it is probably a place for people with own car but thanks to this it is quiet, originally traditional and the terrace has amazing view on the mountains. In 30-40 minutes of driving there are many wonderful places to visit. In our case, while leaving, we had a strong feeling that we should book this place for longer.

    Heraklion , Heraklion, Greece

Grandpa's old warehouse, fully renovated, is located in the heart of Agios Myronas (Saint Myronas), a village with a panoramic breath-taking view, just 14 km away from the city of Heraklion. It's, also just around 18 km from the nearest beach. Αριθμός Μητρώου Ακινήτου (ΑΜΑ): 00000610912 Register Number of Property: 00000610912
The village is built on the top of two hills on an altitude of 340 m. It exists since the Minoan and Roman era and many findings are exhibited in the archaeological museum of Heraklion. The property is within a few meters walking distance from the cathedral which is of great historical and religious significance. Underneath the cathedral, you can visit the impressive hermitage of saint Myronas where you will experience holy-water to spout from the rock. On the 7th and 8th of August, a big fest is organised in honor of saint Myronas. Also, within walking distance, you will be able to admire the village's clock at the stone-built school, which can be viewed from the whole area around. Undoubtedly, you should try the delicious raisins, olives and olive oil which are widely produced in the village's countryside as well as visit wineries around the village. There is also post office as well as a peripheral medical center. A few meters away from the house, you will find several mini markets together with traditional bakeries and taverns or local cafés where you can taste delicious traditional dishes and local raki - the famous Cretan drink. Most of them have awesome view to the fields and the sea. Additionally, loads of caves, fountains and magical pathways crossing the rich local vegetation, create a unique scenery that the visitor should definitely experience. I'm sure you will enjoy your staying in Agios Myronas!!

  • The accommodation is clean, spacious, very well equipped and with a magnificent view! Moreover it is extremely well placed if you want to visit all the region of Heraklion. Ioanna welcomed us with open arms despite the late hour of our arrival. His advice throughout our stay proved to be excellent, whether for restaurants, beaches or activities to do in the area. In short, Ioanna is the ideal host and the accommodation she and her husband offers is just as much.

  • This is the best air bnb experience I've ever had. If you're looking to get away from the norm, experience a bit of farm life and meet two amazing souls this is the place to be. The animal presence was so nice. The room was perfect, cozy and homely. The sunsets and sunrises were amazing. The local town 10 minute walk away is full of wonderful people who will stop, smile and share their fruits with you! Anita and adam are truly amazing hosts and made us feel like family. We had an emergency and they took such good care of us to help us rearrange our plans and quickly get to and from the port. I will definitely be returning here one day and am looking forward to it. We were sad to leave. Thank you Adam and Anita for being such beautiful people and sharing your home with us.

  • Roula is a great host ! She even picked me up at the airport to guide me to the apartment. I got a lot of ideas from her what to visit on Crete. If you want to get to know the „real Crete“ Roulas apartment is the perfect spot to start from. The apartment itself had everything : A nice kitchen, functional bathroom and a very nice and comfortable bed. I can highly recommend to stay at the apartment !

    Olia2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful & peaceful. The garden will give you rest, and the stay is worth every penny. Make the most of it by spending a little time with these lovely heartwarming hosts, and travel just 20 minutes by car (or if you are like me.. 2 1/2 hours on foot) to Heraklion Center & port. What else could I ask for? More time here! A proud people of unmatched hospitality. Watching the locals interact gives so much credibility to the term, "humanity." I can say this for all the locations I have traveled to in Greece. Bring your health & money, and leave expectation elsewhere. Enjoy the adventure and in so doing, receive new life. Ρούλα is a passionate teacher who taught me how to prepare potatoes in one of many Greek manners, and Παναγιώτης runs the ropes of the tourist industry, so priceless recommendations are abundant. We had great conversation in the garden and I was given all sorts of homemade items such as marmalade, honey, chicken & pasta, grapes, pomegranates off the tree, and an assortment of homemade alcoholic beverages (5 kinds!) The force is strong with these two wonderful human beings! I'll be back

  • What a welcome from Maria and her son. Your stone house is just perfect. What a sublime view of mountains. The best place if you go to this beautiful part of the world. I already miss the sight !!! Thank you!!!

    Telmond2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I and another couple recently spent four days at the Stone House. Maria was there to greet us when we arrived, and had also arranged for a welcoming platter of Greek foods and Raki. The Stone House is in a small village in a spectacular setting overlooking olive orchards and wine vineyards. The house itself is truly amazing! As we were led from one fabulous room to another, we were truly in awe. The ancient house has been beautifully updated with modern amenities - refrigerator, stove, washing machine, ample cabinets, etc. The many rooms offer panoramic vistas of the beautiful countryside. If we could give six stars, we would!

    Victoria2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Maria’s was very enjoyable. Maria is kindhearted, her villa has amazing views and the patio is filled with geraniums. I’m grateful to have been able to stay in Maria’s villa

  • My flight from London to Heraklion was delayed, causing me to get to the airport after my rental car agency was supposed to close. With my American phone, I was struggling to get in touch with the agency. After I messaged her from London, she quickly called them and got them to stay open later for me. Additionally, she escorted me from the airport to the house once I landed. She was very friendly and super helpful. Stone house was also outstanding. The little village was very cute, the views of the hills spectacular, and the house itself was gorgeous and spacious.

  • We had a great time! Hospitality, hospitality, comfort were at the rendezvous. We will return with pleasure ...

  • If you want to get lost in the Cretan mountains and enjoy a village life with friendly people, Maria's Stone House is for you! Isolated in lush greenery, this beautiful home is equipped as if we were at home. We enjoy large living spaces, both inside and out with a courtyard and a covered kitchen that allow you to eat while enjoying the view of the surrounding olive groves. It's a favorite that I highly recommend. Thank you Maria!

  • There is really nothing we can add to all the previous recommendations to this AirBnB. Every positive word written to describe this place and the hosts is certainly well deserved. Visit this place to see the authentic Crete and enjoy a spectacular nature. It is a bit difficult to find the first time and sometimes your navigator wants you to follow some very narrow or steep roads, but once you get there and learn the “right route” you will have no trouble driving there, and you will enjoy the remoteness and tranquility, yet stay near the large city of Heraklion. We stayed in late March and early April and had a fair share of rainy and windy days, but had a great time anyway: imagine how wonderful a summer vacation here must be!

  • Seriously gorgeous, with a breath-taking view from every window and balcony! This is the prettiest and warmest holiday home we've ever stayed in, absolutely perfect for a lovers getaway or a vacation with friends. Romantic, homey, colourful and fascinating place bursting with personal touches and creativity. The remote location makes it difficult to shop for groceries, so do plan ahead, but the place is so very worth it – we stayed home for several days just to enjoy it!

The apartment is situated 10 kilometers from Heraklion centre and the local airport. The nearest sandy beaches are approximately 12km away while other magnificent beaches are situated 20-40 minutes away. ***A few words about Heraklion region*** Heraklion is Crete’s main entrance hub and is situated at the center of the island (north shore). The Minoan Palace of Knossos lies in the city’s outskirts while the archaeological museum boasts a large collection of Minoan artifacts from all over Crete. Although Heraklion is a bustling city, the calm and picturesque countryside, only a few minutes away by car will take you back in time. In the region's villages you will enjoy authentic Cretan cuisine made with quality local olive oil and other local produce. A winery tour will allow you to experience the island’s wine-making tradition, going back thousands of years. During the day you can enjoy swimming and sunbathing in numerous sandy beaches lying in the north and south of the region. Heraklion is therefore a must stop during a multi-day island tour. It is also a convenient base for a short trip to Crete since one can easily combine visits to historical sites with great swimming opportunities and culinary delights. ***What to do in Heraklion*** For history and archaeology enthusiasts the starting point of the tour is Knossos, the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on Crete, also called Europe's oldest city. Heraklion's archeological museum displays exhibits dating back to the Neolithic era in 3,500 BC while the medieval fortress of Koules ("Castello a Mare"), situated in Heraklion’s port is a reminder of the town's medieval past. Furthermore, the Historical Museum exhibits items from the 4th century AD up to and including the Second World War. The Natural History museum exhibits the diverse flora and fauna of the Eastern Mediterranean region. The Cretan Aquarium will allow you to take a glimpse of the marine life inhabiting the waters surrounding the island. During the evening you can visit one of the numerous small restaurants ("Rakadika") situated in the town’s old center (near the Morozini fountain), which serve delicious variety plates along with Cretan spirit "Raki". And if you are up to it you can continue your night out until the early morning hours in one of the local bars and clubs.
  • Well, now we can say that all the glowing reviews for this place are absolutely spot on! We had the most lovely time, the surroundings were beautiful, and Kate and Kostis are indeed legendary hosts. Kate's cooking is fabulous! If you are looking for peace and quiet, a beautiful outlook, fresh air, an apartment where every detail has been thought of, then you may get lucky and be able to stay here! Highly recommended.

  • Very nice tranquil place on the edge of Heraklion with extra delicious homemade treats.

    Daniel2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view, hospitality and accommodation. This is by far the best Airbnb we have stayed in (out of a total of 15 all over the world). Kate and Kostis are remarkable hosts, welcoming and friendly, with useful tips and recommendations. They live upstairs and so are close at hand but the accommodation downstairs is completely seperate and private. The garden, with its million dollar view, is perfect for early morning coffee or lazy afternoon drinks and dinner. We were welcomed with homemade cakes and spanakopita, jam, olive oil, wine and produce from the garden. There was so much food that we had dinner at home two evenings in a row. Vasilies is a sleepy village not far out of Heraklion, a few shops and a taverna. A great base from which to visit Knossos and other nearby towns. It’s an easy half hour drive to lovely beaches. The flat itself is large, sparking clean and is super well equipped with everything you would need for your holiday. It might be a little hard to find (the first time) but we had the help of google maps and that took us right there. You would probably need a car if staying here as it might be difficult coming and going without one. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants peace and quite - it truly is unique.

  • The place was fantastic. Spotless, comfortable, peaceful and tasteful. Equipped with everything we needed and even more. Comfy bed and beautiful bedding. Amazing garden and view. Delicious dinner and plenty of complimentary food, vegs and fruits. Thoughtful touches and all needed essentials. Everything was as perfect as it had seemed online and even better. Heraklion, Knossos, beaches and all facilities located within a stone’s throw of the property. Kate and Kostis were a great host and great human beings. The most thoughtful, gracious, tactful, friendly and helpful host ever. They made sure we had everything we needed to be happy. The best Airbnb we have ever been to. 5.0 stars out of 5.0 in each possible category. We look forward to being there again and stay in touch with Kate and Kostis. Thank you very much for making our holiday great, unforgettable and unique. We flew to Chania but we stayed over 150 km away in Vasilies and that was a bullseye. We appreciate and cherish every minute being there. Thank you again!

  • After 6 weeks trip through Greece we could finish our trip here perfectly. The apartment has everything you need and the view from the beautiful terrace on mountains, valley and sea is breathtaking! The hosts are very accommodating and have spoiled us with products from their own garden and delicious homemade Greek delicacies. We like to come again!

  • We absolutely loved our stay here! From start to finish Kate and Kostis spoilt us, made us feel welcome and helped us fall in love with Crete, you won’t be disappointed if you stay here, we will be back :) if Kate cooks for you, always accept it! Her food is amazing! A big thank you to Kostis too, such a wonderful couple. The views from the apartment are incredible too, nothing bad to say, just book it!

  • Kate and Kostis' place was perfect for our little family and we wish we could have stayed longer! The special touches made us feel extremely welcome and the hosts are so kind and caring, going out of their way to make us happy! The house has absolutely everything you could need and it really feels like home away from home. We highly recommend staying with Kate and Kostis!

  • I had to give all fives to every element - I feel like this home is basically what AirBnB wishes every single one of their locations was. The hosting was gracious, they provided many small and thoughtful gifts, they were super available and helpful yet discreet and didn't make me or my highly introverted wife feel pressured by their presence. The views were amazing, the comforts lovely, the food and gifts were so amazing after our long flight. The location was away from the bustle of the city, yet very close to get to. It was also very accessible to the highway in all 4 directions allowing you to easily get to many major sites. We actually adjusted our planned schedule to spend more time at this location, it was that lovely. If you're going to Crete - go here.

The house is located in the traditional village Kerasia, 23 km from the city center of Heraklion! In Kerasia you can admire landmarks, such as the chapel of Our Lady Revealed landscape of exceptional natural beauty, the chapel of St Silas, a ruined church of early Christian times, and other churches, such as St. George in the village center and the parish church of the Life-Giving Spring, at the highest point of the village. Still, at sightseeing belongs the restored building of the former elementary school, at the grounds of which there is the grave of Captain Charalambos Vlachaki who acted against the Ottomans. From the hills of cypress and Chalepa you can enjoy the view which extends to the island of Dia. You can even visit the Kerassano canyon that stretches north of the village with an EW direction, which the river flows begging. Finally, you can attend the local village festival on July 30, when St. Silas celebrates.
  • This is a little gem in the hills about 30 min drive from Iraklion and Knossos. A traditional village with steep and narrow cobbled streets. The house is at the top of the village next to the church. The house itself was beautiful, clean and well equipped and everything worked well. It has everything you could need. however the most memorable and charming part of our stay was Soula's friendliness and desire to share with us a real sense of Cretan hospitality. Even including us in a village celebration. It was a very positive and memorable stay for us.

    Selma2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice traditional home in a lovely little village in central Crete. Clean, very well equipped with a nice private interior terrace. Thanks to Soula and her mom for the great hospitality. Highly recommended for a familiy holiday in the region.

    Mathieu2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Soula’s place so much, it was our favorite place so far on our trip through the Greek islands. It truly felt like a home away from home. There is a patio in the back (with a fragrant fig tree) and front where you can sit and have your coffee or wine. There is also laundry and a full kitchen, which allowed us to go to the market and cook dinner in. The house is well insulated from the heat and very quiet - it was so easy to relax! Also, Soula’s mother was so kind to us, coming by to check on us and give us treats, even though we didn’t know any Greek. I highly recommend learning some phrases if you’re going to stay here for any length of time. It will make your experience in the village very rewarding. We aren’t city people, so we preferred our stay in Kerassa much more than the time we spent in Heraklion. We liked the countryside, quiet farm roads, rolling hills lined with olive trees and grape vines leading up to Psiloritis, where you can hear the sheep being herded home in the evening. For a nice “hike”, I recommend walking up to the ruins at Prinia, first established by the Minoans. Use Google maps. It takes you gently uphill through idyllic farm roads for about 1.5-2 hours until you get to the archeological site. There is some walking on paved roads, but you will hear the cars coming and can stand to the side. The site is in the process of being excavated, and there’s not much information on site, but it’s very neat just to walk around and discover it for yourself. There is also a small church with an excellent view of the valley (all the way to Heraklion). I recommend Soula’s place if you want to experience a little of traditional village life and get away from the tourist crowds and the busy city, without being far from any of the big attractions. We loved it!

    Kat2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house is a lived-in house, presumably inhabited by the mother of Soula, at least it appears in the furnishings made of objects and affection choices. Grandma is lovely in her frequent offerings of carinerias, from sage twigs to bread, to sweets to the best ouzo from Crete. There are beautiful outdoor spaces, where it is pleasant to eat meals that can be well prepared in a perfectly organized kitchen. Ideal holiday home for the winter as it has a large fireplace. Absolutely to be recommended as long as you have a rather 'narrow' car.

    Chiaralba2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect host, highly recommended

    Stratos2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an authentic holiday this is the place to be. the place is quiet and relaxing comfort and benefits of the house is perfect ... very well located to visit Heraklion and its region ... we recommend everyone to have a good time .Soula and his mother are welcoming and most friendly ...

    Patrick2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Soula, although to our regret, it was too short. Her mother welcomed us with a lot of warmth and hospitality. The house is warm and well equipped. Perched at the top of the village, it is very quiet and has 2 terraces. A good place to immerse yourself in Cretan culture.

    Christelle2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really nice! It is located right near the village church and is very quiet and calm. You have a separate entrance on the ground floor and a small personal terrace with a pleasant view. At the same time, the first floor is occupied by Soula's mother, very friendly and gentle woman! Unfortunately, she does not speak English, but we managed to communicate via a translator a little bit. Both Soula and her mother are fantastically kind and welcoming persons! They do everything for your comfortable stay. When we came, they prepared for us some local dishes and then each day we had some small tasty presents and fruits! We really appreciate that! All rooms are lovely and romantically decorated and there is all what you need for a several days stay! Besides, the shower is full of hot water and the Wi-Fi is perfect. If you come by car, there are two ways to approach the house from the main village street. The former is short and goes up straight to the house, but it is steep enough (we used it to leave as it is suitable to go down). The latter is longer, goes around the village, but easier (we used it to come). However, it still has one narrow street at the end, but it is still OK to pass. Once you get to the house, there is plenty space to park and turn around. The village itself is nice as well. It is small and it takes little time to get around it, but the walk is pleasant. If you like to be out of crowdie places, we definitely recommend the place!

  • Casa de Luna is a little jewel in the countryside of central Crete. Small and very comfortable, perfectly clean and simply but well furnished. So fresh we had no need to use the A/C and it was August. Just open windows and let the pure air fill your lungs. A couple of minutes from the town of Venerato where you have excellent market and a very good taberna. If you wish you can buy all you need at the market, including very good lamb, and cook at your kitchen. Or you can go to Keralia's cafe to have breakfast and to Dimitri's for lunch. We stayed 2 weeks and it was paradise.

  • Kallias place is sparkling clean and in a good location for exploring the area south of Heraklion. The garden is gated and it's a great place for people enjoying having privacy. There is a good kitchen, a good bed, and air conditioning that keeps the house cool even on very hot days. We were welcomed by Kallia and her parents with smiles and homebaked muffins. Kallia was truly committed to making our stay a good one and making sure everything worked. Due to a cut cable somewhere in the area, we had no net connection at one point. Kallia solved this in no time, by buying and bringing a 4G Wi-Fi router. We highly recommend Kallia's place!

Registration Number 1039K10003063701 This is the perfect spot to sit back, relax and enjoy spectacular views of mountains, valleys, the city and sea. Quiet and peaceful yet close to everything. The house is spacious and comfortable and the surroundings are stunningly beautiful.
This is an ideal rental for independent travellers and family groups who want the freedom of a comfortable and well-appointed house to base themselves on Crete and experience daily life in a small Cretan village. Our stone house is just six years old and set in an olive grove in the beautiful mountain village of Loutraki, just 30 minutes from the city and the sea. Incredible views, warm people, great central place to base yourself on this amazing island. Washing machine, fully furnished, TV DVDs, very comfortable. The accommodation consists of three bedrooms, sunroom, kitchen, lounge room and two bathrooms. The ground floor includes a fully equipped kitchen, lounge/dining area, two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds, and a large bathroom. The lounge can also double as a bed. Upstairs there is another bedroom with its own balcony and bathroom. There is also a large terrace on the first floor with views that stretch across green hills and gorges to the city and the sea beyond. The sun room which is on the terrace has a single bed and a sofa bed. Loutraki is a small, quiet, agricultural village. Our garden in the front is still growing but the olive grove behind is big and shady. There is no tourism here, just a simple way of life tied to the seasons and harvests. However the village is convenient to the main thoroughfares that link the island from east to west and to the south. It is also close to many important archeological sites and impressive churches. All around the village the views are so beautiful they can break your heart. Loutraki has a really good tavern called 'Loutraki' opposite the war memorial. It is usually open at night and definitely worth a visit. It is run by Christina and Nikos and the food is fantastic and the company even better. Next door there is a mini market where you can buy fresh local eggs if the chickens are in the mood for laying, milk, bread etc. There are also a couple of very traditional coffee shops, one of which is open in the evening. You can reach long stretches of coastal beaches in about 15 minutes by car. There is a petrol station about 1 kilometre from the village. The main port town of Iraklion is 19 kilometres away and can be reach in about 30 minutes easy driving by car. The airport is about 40 minutes depending on traffic. The large village of Gazi is about 15 minutes by car and it has a variety of big and small supermarkets, butchers and bakeries for more extensive shopping. There is a large village 3 kilometres away from Loutraki called Krousonas which has bakeries and a variety of shops including a pharmacy. Krousonas also boasts a fantastic pastry shop run by the local women's collective, which also runs the bakery opposite. Traveling in the opposite direction (towards Iraklion) are some picturesque villages starting with Korfes. If you follow the curving road down from Korfes you will pass another village before arriving at Kavro Xori which is a very beautiful village quite close to Iraklion, but another world away. There are plenty of great places to walk in the countryside around the village including some incredible gorges. I have included some photos of the Gonies Gorge. The start of it is about a 30 minute walk from the village. This gorge is not open to hikers at present but there are many, many others of varying difficulty and ease all over Crete. As the photos show, the landscape is incredible.
No words can adequately describe the beauty of this place or the warmth of the people in Loutraki. It has to be experienced. If you take the time to meet people you will remember them forever.
  • wow!! we loved this house..in a very tiny village...you have all what you need in the house... great host ! a beautiful Area...we wil come back one day love David & Max en Clio

  • If you are looking for excellence in every way and for a local Crete experience Rose's place is highly recommended. As a previous reviewer commented this is how an AirBNB was intended to be operated before booking agents high-jacked the system. We stayed for four weeks. Initially there were two of us and our son and partner joined us for one week. Everything was perfect thanks to Rose and Stella. We were welcomed with generous gifts of fruit, local olive oil, wine and raki. The house had everything we needed, even a dishwasher. The mountain water was beautiful. Solar hot water was plentiful. The power supply was reliable. Internet access was intermittent and as a back up we bought local sim cards and data from Cosmote in Heraklion. The house was spotless and the garden magnificent. We hired a small car and made trips to nearby villages for shopping and to the coast for swimming. For longer trips we went by coach from Heraklion. The local village Taverna provided us a place to go for dinner and was just a short walk away. We bought milk and eggs from the local shop. We were fortunate in befriending a number of local people who all made us so welcome it was very sad to leave. If you are a person who wants to be off the beaten track while still having access to great facilities then we strongly recommend staying at Rose's home. If you are fortunate enough to stay there please read our notes in the visitor's book to help you with local knowledge.

  • Rose's house is completely in line with the description. The house is beautiful, a superb view of the olive groves from the terrace. Do not miss the magic sunrise. From Loutraki you have access to the eastern part of the island. Thanks to Stella for her welcome, her smile and her joie de vivre. Rose, olive oil: divine See you soon

  • Every BNB host should stay here to see how a BNB should be set up. It is what AirBNB used to be about. They have created something special. The village is small but easy to get to and only 20 or so min from Iraklio. The road is also a pleasant and easy drive. We loved our stay and couldn’t recommend the place more. Thank you Rose and Stellar you two are truly super hosts.

  • Lovely place to stay . Although the construction site in front of the house will slightly deflate your expectations .

  • Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Stella - she brought us to the house, showed us around and explained everything. The house was gorgeous and spacious and had everything we needed. The views were fantastic and the neighborhood was quiet. We loved the village and being away from the tourist hotspots. We had some struggles getting internet reception (for the most part it didn't work, but we could get internet connection in the village). If you would like to relax and unwind - it's great; if you are planning on working and need internet access - you would need to make arrangements. There was also construction going on across the street. We could only hear it in the morning, as we usually left in the morning and returned later at night. I would like to thank Rose for being attentive, for checking in on us and for her prompt responses. She made us feel comfortable and well taken care of during our stay at her beautiful house!

Villa “Spitaki” (means small house in Greek) was built in 1900 based in old traditional architectology. It has four fully restored bedrooms in traditional Cretan style. The two-level house situated in a quiet location in village Ano Kalessa, a picturesque little village on a green hill just 4km away from Ammoudara beaches and very close to Heraklion city. Be ready to enjoy the Cretan Hospitality!
The house is made out of stone and the 80cm thick walls act as a natural air-condition by keeping the house cool in summer. Additionally, there is an original stone built fire-place which provides warm moments in the winter. On ground floor there is also a dining area with a large wooden monastery table, a kitchen with all the facilities, the fireplace and a WC/shower also. A staircase leads to the upper floor where a master bedroom is located with en-suite WC/shower. This bedroom also has access to the veranda. But the point that makes “Spitaki” precious and unique are the three “ontas” bedrooms. “Ontas” is an old fashioned architecture place that used to be a bedroom and is in some way separated from the rest place. This traditional house was builded and used from the grandfather of the family as a stable before being restored into a fully functional house and so lots of its usability details have remained the same. The veranda has a beautiful view around the hills that give someone the opportunity to appreciate the fresh Cretan air. Finally, equipment for outdoors barbeque is provided to the guests. In the balcony there is also a traditional sofa with a marble table to enjoy the moments in Crete. You will find everything you need to make your stay pleasant and comfortable!
In Ano Kalessa village you will find local shops such as bakery, butchery, mini market, coffee house and tavern. Also guests can visit a riding club about a kilometer away from the house which organizes rides in the countryside. Furthermore only 4km away it is possible that guests visit Ammoudara’s sandy beaches. In Ammoudara area there are various bars and restaurants and lots of nice on beach bars to enjoy a drink or cocktail while on beach. Heraklion city center is located about 16km from the house and you can be there within 20 minutes driving.
  • Amazing place, traditional and comfortable, very clean, very nice decoration. But the most awesome fact was the hospitality! Argiro and her whole family are amazing hosts, maybe our best memory from Heraklion. Our next trip there will be scheduled totally considering the available dates of this place!

  • Argiro is a very lovely and kind host! She is very helpful and willing to make us feel comfortable during our stay in her house. "Spitaki" was absolutely perfect in every way: quiet, very spacious, comfortable and what really impressed us, is the stylish decor. We had the opportunity to admire lots of authentic cretan traits of this village . The drive to Heraklion was not more than 15 minutes and we had the chance to so be close to the city, and at the same time to be enjoying very quiet and tranquil times when we needed it. I think that we made the best decision by choosing the "spitaki" because the combination of high quality of living and low price is most of the times hard to find; but we seemed to be lucky! Thank you Argiro! :) ;)

  • A lovely traditional and cozy home in a picturesque village very close to Heraklion city! Amazing hospitality from the host!

    Katerina2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house is extremely cute and cozy. It is very convenient for a family with children or teenagers: in addition to the master bedroom with a queen size double bed there are 2 single bed and 1 double bed separate sleeping mezzanines. Some corners under the mezzanines are very low though, so mind your head... The interior is comfortable, nicely decorated and perfectly clean. Outside is a terrace with a view down the hill. A lovely place to relax in the swinging chair. Villa Spitaki is a nice way to experience life in a small cretan village. The village cafe just round the corner offers marvellous food for dinner, there is a grocery store in 100 meters and a nice sandy beach just 10 minutes down the hill. Perfect!

    Hanna2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Argiro's place was everything we wanted and more. This was a true authentic experience in a greek village. We were close to the airport but still tucked away on a mountain that felt very remote. The views were beautiful and the airbb was beautiful. We recommend this to everyone and will remember this place fondly. The host was very communicative and responsive. Wish we could have stayed longer.

    Nicole2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house in a small village outside the tourist circuits. Excellent welcome (I recommend the amazing dinner in the bar of the square) and tastefully furnished house, with mezzanines where the single beds are placed, but eye to the head because the ceiling is very low and one double on the top floor, which is reached through a steep spiral staircase, with a service bathroom, where there is a very cozy terrace from which you can enjoy the view.

    Marco2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Argiro for hosting us in such a charming, traditional and unique stay. This house was one of our favourites, and sitting on the verandah with a cold glass of white wine and some fresh grapes looking out at the stunning view was one of our favourites. Just note, it is located in a small village about 15-20 minutes out of town, but that’s exactly what we were looking for. Hot tip, head to the next village over (Kato Kalesia I think) and find the cafe with an amazing view for an authentic Greek coffee. The bakery down the street from the cafe was amazing too.

    Jed2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful night at this lovely house with a veranda that has an amazing view of the mountains and the olive trees that surround Heraklion. It even has its own pizza oven! We (parents + 3 daughters) enjoyed our dinner at the local taverna on the village square. When we left the next day, the neighbour gave us tons of fantastic sweet grapes. Too bad we were only there for one night! Do watch your head, some ceilings are low.

In a historic village and nearby an archaeological site (Minoan Civilization), you will be able to relax, rest and enjoy fresh air and a natural landscape. By the fireplace, we will welcome you with a fine Cretan wine or Raki at your arrival.
A traditional and rural space with a beautiful garden. Spectacular view of the mountains and sea.Clean and cozy. You are going to love it!
It is a peaceful area, where you can see the mountains and the sea! Nature all around you and stilness of time!
  • Small apartment very clean and rustic but with all the comforts The mattress was very comfortable. The only flaw, the underside sheet too short, as well as the one above, every night we are on the mattress It would be wise to use a fitted sheet for night comfort I recommend it anyway, as it is very popular with Manolis with lots of attention, red and rosé wine, raki

  • I give this listings 5 stars because of Mr. M. After 24 hours between airport and air plane, when I got there, all I wanted to do was sleep. Mr. M was not having it! He prepared a meal and introduced me to some of the best teas! I had four cups that night. I grew up, and still only drink herbal teas, so that’s saying a lot! The apartment is in a village with all the charm and charisma of village life: barking dogs and a VERY curious cat (I have pictures on him curled up beside me). The road leading to and from the village is curvy, so be very careful. There is wine (red, white and a clear one). You can tell I don’t drink. But if you do, he makes them from his vineyard including olive oil. I was only interested in the teas, some of which he bought for me to take home! As this was a working trip for me, I did not have enough time to visit some of his recommended places. Next time, definitely! He is a wealth of information, so you are in good hands. Oh, and there are numbers on the houses, ask for his, just in case you get lost! Thank you, Mr. M.

  • This is the most wonderful place I ever stayed at. I went there with my boyfriend for one week and we were blown away by the kindness of Stella and Manolis. They are such great and lovley persons! Stella picked us up at the village to show us the apartment and everything. From the first moment we felt really good. The communication with Stella was also uncomplicated. She always responded fast and answered all of our questions very friendly. Manolis told us a lot of things about living in Crete and about his wine. At our arrival we've got wine, raki, marmelade and some other little things to eat from Manolis. The wine was amazing! His olives too. The apartment is a beautiful and cozy flat. Everything was clean and just perfect. A lot of times the cute cat of Manolis visited us. The apartment is in a small traditional cretan village only 15 Minutes from Heraklion City Center. Only 7 minutes away by car you can find a nice little taverna to eat and drink something. We miss it already. Never had such awesome holidays before! A thousand thanks and much love to Stella and Manolis! We will never forget this wonderful place.

  • Where to start ??? What happiness ... a beautiful house in an authentic Cretan village. We were greeted by the MONSIEUR dad Stella, an extraordinary man of incredible kindness always present while being discreet to make our stay unforgettable! We thank him so much for giving us the opportunity to welcome us, to make us discover the horizons, to taste his Raki, his olive oil, his smile, this knowledge ...... there is so much to say! If anything else, we wanted more from this place! Book with your eyes closed and live your desires. Thank you again, thank you for everything! Stella, expect to see us again next year for 2 weeks!

  • Stellas place is the best place to stay in Crete. It really is like in the pictures, and the view from the balcony is breathtaking. When we got there, Stellas husband showed us the apartment, and they waited for us with a freshly baked cake (from Stellas mother), some wine (from Stellas father), Raki, water in the fridge, some local cheese. During the week they were really helpful, when we had some problems we got quick answers. On our last evening they even invited us to dinner. They cooked a lot of local food and everything was very delicious, we had a very good time. I would strongly recommend Stellas place, if you want to meet the real people from Crete and sleep in a very quiet and nice apartment.

  • What happiness! Manolis and Stella welcomed us as friends! They made us share the love of their beautiful island by offering places of visits, local festivals and taverns. Manolis made us taste his wine, his Raki, his olives and many other local specialties! It was just great!

  • Tylissos is a beautiful hamlet and Stella's house offers relaxation and tranquility. It is made of stone and wood, it has a beautiful view while the cooling tree on the balcony creates an atmosphere of escape. Stella made sure the internet worked perfectly and was available for anything she needed. It was a very pleasant stay. I highly recommend.

    Elisavet2019-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Stella and her dad are exceptionally friendly, warmhearted and generous hosts. There was a small hurdle on arrival because the name of the village is written differently than on the Airbnb ad and stated in Stella's message to us. That's why we got lost first in a homonymous district of Heraklion and Stella's father, who picked us up personally, had to wait a long time. The apartment is a simple, but very tastefully decorated piece of jewelry. Small, but very high quality in the African style, beautifully located between trees with a small terrace. 1-2 nights, the guard dog barked by the neighbors, but then it was quiet again. Stella's father gave us so generously with home-made raki, own olives, grapes etc. A second evening he took us in the car to a concert in the neighboring village. When we went out to eat, he even invited us. We spent a wonderful evening at an open air concert with traditional Cretan music in orchestral version. We learned a lot about Crete from Manolo!

  • Don't hesitate to book Sofia's place. It's guaranteed the best choice you'll make! It's an easy 10min drive from the city center: close enough for citytripping, far enough to escape from the crowds. The apartment is spacious with everything you might need or can even think of, the views on the terrace are stunning and the hosts are the friendliest Greeks you'll ever meet. They're always ready to help if you need anything! (even when you achieve to get your rental-car stuck in an olive grove... Afterwards, they even invited us for lunch).

  • Sofia is a wonderful host. Communicating was easy and and she was very welcoming. There is a fruit bowl and there are veggies to make a Greek salad in the fridge. Basic things like coffee, honey, salt, sugar, olive oil, vinegar and cookies were also provided. The apartment is newly remodeled and very clean. The location is on the edge of the town and has an amazing view all around. It is a quiet and relaxing location. The private roof terrace has a sunshade, I recommend watching the sunset as it is breathtaking. I regret only staying one night, I will definitely be staying longer next time!

  • This is a wonderful, traditional Cretan family home. The cottage is beautiful both inside and out. If you wish to experience staying in a real Cretan cottage that boasts the history of three generations of family and where your water is drawn from an antique well, where you can look out every morning on Cretan mountain ranges and walk amongst terraced fruit and olive trees within your grounds, and listen to the call of the Tzitzikas and know that you have woken up in Paradise then this is for you. Susanna and Manolis are incredible hosts and nothing is too much. They are attentive to all your needs helping to recommend places to visit, local restaurants and sharing their enthusiasm for everything Cretan. They were even kind enough to share their passion and friendship in hosting us with a delightful evening spent in Heraklion tasting local delights and sharing Manolis' evocative retelling of his growing up in Siva and Heraklion. We have touched Heaven and we do not want to come down!

  • The house is clean, nicely decorated, the bedding is comfortable, the garden is full of flowers and has many fruit trees. Siva is a peaceful village not far from the beaches. Susanna and Manolis are always so welcoming and do their best to make our stay enjoyable :-)

  • From the minute we enquired about Suma's place she was professional and helpful every step of the way. From helping us with arranging one of the best deals we have ever had on a hire car to maps with places of interest so that we could plan our own tour of Crete. From Suma's place we were able to travel the length of the island. We made day trips to Vai and Intanos beaches in the east and Balos in the west. Every day we were able to see and experience something new. One of the best beaches for us was the closest just North of Heraklion called Paleokastos at only 30 minutes away. More locals here than tourists The house is located in a quiet street opposite a beautiful little church. There are a number of small villages very close by all of which are well worth visiting. On Suma's recommendation we visited a festival in Venerato which was a super experience. The house is well equipped and the bunk beds for our boys 10 and 8 were ideal. We ate outside most days under the shade of the massive vine from which hung huge bunches of sweet grapes. Up the stairs at the back was an orchard with a large range of fruit trees. We arrived late due to our plane being delayed and getting lost 'thanks SatNav!'. Suma waited for us and provided us with all the information we needed. On waking we were treated a beautiful sunrise over the mountains from the front of the house. Whenever we had a question responses were made quickly. One of our favourite places in the house was the reading corner next to a window (lovely breeze) on the upper landing. We visited in August and clothes dried very quickly in the sun. The wind can be strong so be sure to put the shutters on the hooks provided. The wind can also cause quite strong waves on some of the beaches and undertows. This was only an issue on 2 of the 10 days we spent on the island. We enjoyed the waves and were able to find sheltered beaches. Suma and the accommodation were fabulous. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will stay again if we are ever back in Crete.

  • We have to admit that this was one of the warmest welcomes we have ever received. Susana and Manolis waited for us patiently and when we arrived they showed us around and explained so carefully to us how everything in the house was arranged so that we’d have no difficulties. They gave us loads of useful information about things to see, where we could visit and go on day trips, and we followed many of their suggestions. It was wonderful to sit with them and chat about life in Crete and it really gave us insights that we hadn’t been aware of and which ultimately made our holiday richer and more rewarding. Indeed, from their warmth and interest, one could immediately feel that being hosts was not a business for them but rather a labour of love. The house is rustic and cosy, is fully equipped with all mod-cons, with a tranquil garden and orchard attached where we could be lazy after a long day sightseeing. The position of the house was perfect, right in the centre of Crete, just off the main road and only a short drive from Heraklion. I can give the very highest recommendation for the house as a holiday location, and for Susana and Manolis as wonderful people and hosts. I hope that we will be able to come back and stay with them again in the future.

  • We were made very welcome by Susanna and Manolis. Susanna took us to the cottage and also showed us around the area; where we could buy bread and provisions; took us to a local restaurant; showed us where the olives they grow are processed in the village. Manolis had left a map showing places of interest which we found extremely useful and which we took with us each day when we went exploring. We were invited to refreshments at their flat in the centre of Heraklion where we were given home-made apple pie, coffee and then a selection of home-made liquers. There are not many hosts that are prepared to do that! The cottage was perfect and had everything that we could need. We were given a bottle of olive oil and were invited to pick oranges and grapefruits from their orchard. All in all, we would highly recommend staying here.

  • I think Susanne and Manolis are the perfect hosts. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was too much trouble. Sorting out the car hire, then meeting us at the airport at 23:00 and escorting us to the house are just two examples of their generosity and professionalism. The house was exactly as described and was the perfect retreat for our holiday. It's location makes it perfect for exploring Crete, either by car or foot (we did both.) There are no facilities in the village but, as part of our introduction, Suzanne and Manolis showed us where the filling stations, super markets, bakeries, cafes and tavernas were in our area, which ones they recommended and the easy routes between them. There is a winery across the street from the house. The owners are very friendly and their wine is fantastic. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful. Return visits were met like the homecoming of an old friend.

  • Susanna and Manolis gave us a great welcome to Siva explaining in detail the attractions on offer and taking us for a quick drive around the area to orientate ourselves to the local services. The cottage was an excellent base for us after having been on the road for three months. It is one of the better appointed airbnbs we have stayed in and allowed us to choose to relax at "home" as an option to driving to many of the nearby sites of which there are many. The many nearby villages had all the services needed and it is only a short drive into Heraklion. We had a great eight day stay in the cottage.

Relax under the bright Mediterranean sun, enjoy the magnificent Cretan landscape as well as a fantastic sea-view from this amazing villa, built at the foothill of mythical mount Ida amidst olive groves and sheep farms, in a quiet secluded village.
This house was built with stones from the Cretan land according to the local tradition and with the intention not to interfere with the superb natural environment of our beautiful island. The place is 110 square meters and consists of two floors interconnected by one internal and one external staircase. The ground floor is an open space with a desk, a fireplace corner with a sofa and a kitchen table next to our fully equipped kitchen that boasts a 4-burner gas top and large professional oven. There are two dinning tables were you can have your meals enjoying the magnificent view of the Cretan landscape. The upper floor has two bedrooms. One with a queen-size bed and one with two single beds. They both open to a large veranda with an amazing unobstracted sea-view. There is also a convertible single bed in the hallway of the upper floor, open also to the veranda, as well as a small refrigerator. There is a bathroom on the upper floor as well as a WC with a sea-view. Another WC is located at the ground floor, next to the laundry space.
Quiet and safe village, 20 km SSW of Heraklion, 350 to 400 m altitude, with family houses, a mini market for the essentials, an excellent cafe-tavern, and a … ewe and goat farm just next to the house! The mountain is excellent for hiking and there are many trails to follow (detailed maps may be provided) and much more to discover. From the farm you can buy dairy products (yoghourt, feta cheese and fresh «mizithra» –a low fat and salt sort of cottage cheese– made from fresh ewe and goat milk by Master Katerina, are highly recommended). The cafe-tavern, run by Christina and Nikos offers excellent food. Ask Christina to prepare special dishes on order.
  • We loved our stay at the villa and would recommend this location to anyone looking for a spectacular view, a quiet village experience and a unique home. The house is not a sterile impersonal place but full of the spirit of the wonderful owner with his books, art collections and photos decorating the rooms. There was plenty of space for our family of four and a portable crib was provided for our baby. The kitchen was very well equipped with a large gas stove where we enjoyed cooking some fantastic Cretan food.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Yanis’ beautiful stone country house. He met us in the village and took us to the house where he had provided fruit, sandwiches and all the makings for a delicious Greek salad. There was even some raki. The house was very clean and comfortable, had good WiFi, as well as magnificent views of the countryside. It’s a great location to visit the surrounding sites or wander the local area. Thank you for a great stay!

  • Beautiful stone house in the hillside of the village of Loutraki. The kitchen had everything a gourmet chef needs to cook in. Yanis was an excellent host and met us and took us to his house. The view is spectacular and it was very clean. We enjoyed our ten day stay there and highly recommend it.

  • We really loved our stay in this home. It was absolutely adorable with its very traditional style yet also very cozy and comfortable. The lack of air conditioning really was not an issue as the temperature is cooler and breezier that high in the mountains, so just leaving the windows open was sufficient. The hosts were wonderful and very hospitable. They greeted us like family. It was very kind of them to leave us with some essentials like milk, water, coffee, cheese, olives, some fruit. The location is conveniently close to the city center of Heraklion, just a short drive away. The best part of course was the magnificent and breathtaking view, we will never forget it! We definitely recommend this home to fellow travelers.

    Anna2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning views! I wanted to get the "horio" (village) experience, and this lovely home delivered. We received an amazing Cretan welcome including, beers, water, homemade buiscuits, muffins, sandwiches, fresh fruit, enough produce to make a Greek salad, and recommendations of what to see and do. The home is very clean and rustic. Fully equipped kitchen. I used the washing machine and it worked perfectly. At night you can literally see every star in the sky!!! A real treat for a city dweller like myself. The sounds of dogs, goats, sheep, cows, cats, cekadas, and various unrecognizable animals fill your senses. Incredible mountain winds keep the home cool as a cucumber during the hot summer, keep in mind that these winds are strong and sound very loud. I think it goes without saying that you need a car to stay here. Parking right out front of the house. These roads are steep and narrow at points. If you plan on staying out late, the drive back is very dark combined with the winding roads makes it difficult for a driver not used to those conditions. The local villagers are super friendly. Although the home seems remote, driving into Iraklion or to Knossos is half an hour and many points of interest are easy to get to.

    J2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really liked the house! The location is a bit more rural than expected. The dogs in the village sometimes disturbed the wonderful peace, but otherwise it was fine for us. The house is well maintained and clean. We had a young cat family at the house which has always welcomed us at the home. We really liked that. We would book it again.
