First of all I would like to say, that I’m in love with Sri Lanka and would definitely come back one day. People here have very friendly, open, calm manners and a deep sense of self-respect. Nature is beautiful, fauna world is fantastic and full of surprises. Akurala is situated only in six kilometers from Hikkaduwa, which is the main attraction for most of the tourists, who come to Sri Lanka to enjoy ocean, beach, sun and palms. That’s why many decide to find a place in Hikkaduwa, but we have chosen Akurala and Nirmala’s house, and were very happy with it. The house is spacious, elegant and simple, in “colonian style”. Nirmala’s house stands just opposite to a lovely lagoon, where the ocean is calm, and where a beach is always empty. If you want to have an opportunity to rest in silence – this is a right place. If you want to go to Hikkaduwa, you can take a tuktuk just for 300-400 rupees, or take the bus for 50 rupees. I personally love tuktuks, because they are funny, cosy and you can have a breezy trip and also enjoy the great views, as a road goes along the seaside. Besides, Hikkaduwa is a tourist place, and it’s not easy to feel there a real originality of Sri-Lanka. For me staying at Nirmala’s place was definitely not only staying in a nice house with a nice host. The most important for me was an immersion in Sri Lankan culture, thanks to Nirmala, who is a great person, open, honest, caring, sincere, intelligent, tender, friendly and very cheerful. She was engaging conversationist, curious about our life in Russia and open to tell about life and culture of Sri Lanka. She introduced us with pleasure to her friends and family. She was always at the house and was always ready to cater to all our needs. She cooked for us Sri Lankan breakfast und dinner, and every day it was something new. She has organized our journey to other districts of Sri Lanka, and after 6-days journey we were happy to come back to her place for another 3 days. Nirmala has so much energy, that you don’t need to do anything – you just tell her your wishes, and she makes them true. Once upon a time we wanted prawns for a dinner. Nirmala went to the market and bought not only prawns, but also a cuttle fish and very tasty mango ice cream for dessert. The other day we decided to play cards… but there were no cards at Nirmala’s house, and it was heavily raining. Surprisingly, in a half an hour someone knocked the door. It was Nirmala’s relative, who brought… new pack of playing cards! Nirmala treated us not like her guests, but like her friends, and I feel, that we have definitely found a new good friend in Sri Lanka.

My parents and I had a pleasant time staying at the Ratnagiri bungalow (which is about 6km north of where airbnb shows in the listing). The host, Nirmala, was very accommodating with our reservation, especially since we booked a few hours before arrival! Though she herself wasn't present at the house, Mr. Upul was no less hospitable. We highly recommend getting at least one Sri Lankan meal at the house (I still dream about the rotis)! I'd wouldn't think twice to book again, when with family.

The house front yard is beautiful. Very close to the beach. You just cross the street and u r in great sandy beach. The house is big and pretty much had very thing except TV.

Very comfortable and spacious villa. Located in a great location. Across the street is very nice beach with no waves and sandy entrance. You can go to Hikkaduwa. Vehicles without problems. By bus (bus stop nearby, transportation costs 25 rupees) or tuk-tuk. The villa has everything you need. Upul villa manager is very friendly and hardworking chelovek.On lives next to it and can be accessed at any time. Hostess Villa Nirmala and her husband are very nice, friendly and hospitable people. Their villa is in good condition and fits the description. We recommend this villa as a great place to live and holiday in Sri Lanka. We liked the area of Hikkaduwa and a wonderful beach Akurala.

Stayed in this house in March 2016. Location great, across the road next to the beach, clean sea, almost no one, no one bothers. The house is located between the two towns, we like the fact that he was not in the city, very quiet and peaceful. The house has a large area where you can run, play, plus the expense of the territory, the house is removed from the road. To us no one climbed on the night left the window open in the room where slept. Hostess We visited at the weekend, brought small presents to everyone was very nice. We loved it at Ravi's. Nice, huge, basic bedroom with a own terrace and an almost private beach just a few steps away. Ravi's wife Dasha cooks amazing food according to your wishes. There is nothing else really around, no restaurants or bars, so if you're looking for a truly peaceful place this is it. Great job from the neverbeen team to select this spot. It's a gem.

Ravi and Darisha are the kindest and most thoughtful hosts you could wish for. We mostly ate there, both enjoying the most delicious and authentic local food and sparing our wallets at the same time. We also planned a six- day tour around some of the most spectacular places on the island, which Ravi, a registered tour guide, organised and managed splendidly. He took us to a couple of ceremonies which you wouldn't ordinarily attend. He is, as you will find out if you spend some time talking with him, a truly good and generous person. The accommodation is spacious and pleasant, albeit simple: hot running water is not available, but we didn't miss it even though I feared I would. The main road is a little distance away, further than most places in this area, although you can still hear it. But sitting on the shady terrace, it is pleasant and relaxing, whilst on the beach it might be miles away. There are small reefs in front of the beach, so plenty of colourful fish to see. You have to take a little care when swimming over them, but there are also deeper pools between them. Including the tour, we spent nearly 3 weeks here and return home thoroughly relaxed and happy.

Together with his son (6 years old) spent 9 days at the happy Ravi and Dasha! The room is spacious, with a large terrace. Terms simple, as shown in the description of the room, but we had enough of this. Ravi and Dasha very hospitable hosts, they did everything to make our stay a comfortable and interesting. Dasha is preparing perfectly! I advise everyone to book dinner and breakfast Dasha - try many local dishes. Dasha is preparing to meet the wishes of every guest! In addition, it comes out favorably. Ravi helped in everything good and positive person who can be trusted in all matters. Mosquito was, in my opinion, a little bit. And the canopy over the bed and the desk help. Beaches. I later because of personal reasons, the same day informed, there is no way to live in suites. But hear the phone the other end of the boss's voice, very gentle and kind to say it does not matter. Save and then Sri Lanka, this must be the place I want to live.

Ravi and his family have a little paradise by the ocean. We loved waking to the sound of the waves and out ingenious mosquito net over our patio area. Darcia cooked a yummy meal for us and Ravi was available with lots of information. We loved the sleeping Buddha and the wonderful ocean.

We stayed two nights at Ravi at the end of our trip before going to Colombo. The place is very easy to reach by bus, as you are able to get off the bus at any time, so we got off right in front of the house. There ist another house between Ravi's place and the beach m, so we didn't feel disturbed. Ravi is a very friendly and great host! He gave us a warm welcome and provided tea whenever we felt like it. Ravi is a certified travel guide who knows a lot about his country and the area and likes to share it. We had some nice talks together on the terrace of our room (beach front) where we learned a lot about Sri Lanka. We also did a tour and saw some nice places (sea turtle hatchery, lagoon, sleeping Buddha....) He has a nice garden with a lot of palm trees and it ends right at the beach. There were no other people when we stayed there! We had breakfast und dinner at Ravi's, which we recommend as there is not much in the direct neighborhood. We would definitely come and visit again!

Woah! We spent two weeks in sri lanka. And Ravi was by far our favourite person we met. He even organized our favourite tour/safari. Maadu river. Moon stone factory. Turtle shelter. Might not sound like much but it was all very charming/local and a very real sri lankan experience. His family is also great. And his brother drove us around on his tuk tuk all day. We experienced so much and it was all very fairly charged. Location of house is right by a quiet beach and a beautiful garden. Mostly lovely local people everywhere.

We spent three days in paradise ... The welcome by Ravi and Daisha was very warm! The very functional and pretty room was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The site is beautiful, the beach right in front of the bungalow, a few meters. The meals prepared by Daisha were great! This is an excellent cook! We keep excellent memories of these few days in this lovely B & B. Thank you to Ravi and Daisha!

Very helpful hosts. The house location is a little half bad and it can be difficult with the buses in Hikkaduwa.

The Sea Spray Terrace is a lovely villa at Hikkaduwa and is ideal for anyone who wants to make multiple trips to Galle snd surrounding areas spread over multiple days. The villa is located away from the hustle and bustle of the commercial area and is directly opposite to the ocean. We also got a breathtaking view of the sunset from here. The host Dananjaya is very personable and ensured that our stay was hassle-free. We did not face any major issues here. The villa was in a neat condition and I would definitely recommend the place to my friends who would be traveling to Sri Lanka.

Dan is an excellent host with a lovely Villa right infront of the Beach. He arranged us transport for airport pickup and dropoff, in a comfortable and nice van. He was there to welcome us to the Villa when we arrived with his wife and little daughter. we requested to have breakfast served everymorning for our stay for an additional price and Dan and his wife cooked us srilankan breakfast everymorning which was excellent. I would highly recommend the Dhal Curry for breakfast which was superb. The Villa is like 10-15 mins away from Hikkaduwa town from Tuk Tuk so that was an added benefit. Overall we were very welcome and we had an excellent time. Best part was that Villa was ours to use for our time there so we had complete privacy. Excellent Host, Excellent Villa, Excellent Location. Highly recommended.

We were a group of adults and children and Danny's place was absolutely perfect for our holiday. Danny himself is really friendly and helpful and I was able to email him lots of questions which he answered clearly. He also has an excellent network of contacts so whatever you need during the holiday - transport, airport pick-up, snorkeling, restaurant recommendations - he can provide. The house is well equipped so we could cater for ourselves very easily, but we also enjoyed a night of delicious local food prepared by Danny's wife. The location of the villa is excellent and convenient for reaching supermarkets and local attractions.

Wouldn't recommend unless major cleaning was done in advance of a stay.

We spent two nights at Nirmala's lovely bungalow in Akurala, close to Hikkaduwa. Though she couldn't be there, she made it a point to call and check on us the day we reached, and the day we left, which was very thoughtful. The Manager was a particularly helpful man who guided us and made our stay very comfortable. They made sure a kettle, crockery and cutlery was available for us to fix basic food and drink. Wi-fi and a laundry service was available too. Local buses to Hikkaduwa beach stop right outside the house and it's a short 10 minute ride. We had a great time in this house! Thank you Nirmala, for a lovely stay!

We have spent the last three days of our Sri Lanka trip to Nirmala's Bungalow. Just as we had hoped, we found a spacious room + bathroom and kitchen in a large idyllic garden. The beach is less than 2 minutes away, on the street. There you will find small coves where you are completely alone when you go away a few meters from the beach area of the hotels located there. Shame that you especially in the morning to listen to the noise of the street in the room. During the day is hardly any traffic. Nirmala itself we have not met, but the manager was very friendly and always help and advice on the spot. The room was the cleanest that we had on the whole trip. Thank you so much!

We had a great time at Nirmala's residence. Nirmala was very responsive to our emails and provided us with information not only of the area but helped us in organising some local tours for us. The residence was closed to the beach which was secluded and we had a great time there. My two boys had a great time swimming and it was safe. With children ..we had asked Nirmala's to provide dinner and I must say that the food was delicious and plentiful! Mr Ummul ( caretaker) was very helpful and made our stay enjoyable. Nirmala thank you for the gifts..great touch and it was appreciated by my boys!

Everything is great

Nirmala was very nice and she organized everything for us. Althought we haven't met personally, her house manager was always there for any kind of questions. House is very safe (with video camera) and very clean. Only minus point is that there is no air condition. Still, I would always recommend this place.

It is a clean, quiet, spacious and safe space; qualities we were looking for and luckily found here; We liked that it had a kitchenette and fridge. The beach is very close, across the street. It is a very good choice. Uphul (manager ) who is always attentive to what you need, we really appreciate his help. Finally, you must take into account Hikkaduwa the closest touristic town with another beach, restaurants and shops is about 8 kms (10-15mins) away; so you have to go by bus or tuk tuk, none is difficult to achieve, but it is important to consider, especially in the evening when the frequency is lower.

First of all Nirmala is the best person you can imagine to comunicate with. With such a good heart, clean mind and spotless soul. Her home is amazing! Just across beautiful sandy beaches, with no people, very clean and cosy. Home is more than nice! Fresh grass with beautiful garden and comfy room, always clean. We recomend to everyone this home and this incredable host! All best for Nirmala place!

A bit far away from Hikkaduwa and pictures a bit misleading but not too bad of a place

Overall, this is a very close distance of the beach a small house, the room is small, roughly five more suitable for holidays with friends or families. Rooms are basically consistent with the picture, but the former is recommended to stay with the landlord to confirm the good in the end is which room to stay, because we check in "coincidence" encountered a room in the attic, this room needs to reach over a period of approximately 60 degrees humble staircase, great room but it looks like a converted storage room, the room has air conditioning touches, but basically there are no other facilities of. There were Some ups and downs. Ups: Beautifull location, with private beach. Alot of turtles and even baby turtles hatching! Was worth the trip Alone. Beach was calm and good For swimming Spacious rooms Good service from the owner / manager Downs: Although the place looks new. If You take a closer look iT sort of seems unfinished. Nothing major, but this makes the difference between a high quality hotel, and just a place To stay. There were Some cracks here and there but nothing major. And not all was really clean. Although iT must be Said That because of the New year only 25% of the staff showed up For work (happens everywhere in sri lanka) Bed was dirty, but Quickly cleaned. I say give this place a try For a day or two and see if You like iT. Then Book For longer or move on.

Host picked us up at the airport and helped us settle into his hotel that evening. Felt very welcomed. The place is exactly as the pictures. It is quiet and secluded. Only a short tuk tuk taxi ride to Hikkaduwa (where there are drinks and dining). The best part is the quiet of this place, if that is what you are searching for on a vacation to paradise. Host will also help you arrange tours and drivers. Just ask and it can be provided!

Hotel seemed unfinished. Largely a grubby hotel with flies throughout the kitchen area and marks of dirt all over the walls and unfinished fittings hanging from the ceiling. 15 minute bus ride out of hikkaduwa. Private beach and good AC in rooms. Very isolated from anywhere. Difficult to get to.

Initially a bit hard to find, this secret private beach resort is very new, clean, and spacious. Direct views into the beach right form your hotel bed, and a lovely staff downstairs to cook you any food and guide you during your stay. Host was great in my very short 1 day stay. The place was so new some things were not quit ready but he quickly fixed them such as wifi. Come here for a very relaxing visit, access to a beach, and great fresh food cooked downstairs in open kitchen (meaning you can see them cook.
